Chapter 12: Catch Me Up
Birdy jumped up from the couch in excitement when she heard the knock at the door. After her nightmare meeting with Ravyn, she called Holly and begged her to come and visit her that night. She had bribed her with the promise of a homemade dinner, bait that Holly had happily taken. While she was a whizz at baking, Holly was as useless as Alex when it came to cooking.
"Look at you moving on up!" Holly exclaimed teasingly as Birdy opened the door.
Birdy rolled her eyes with a laugh and hugged Holly tightly before pulling her into the apartment. "It's not that fancy."
Holly snorted in disbelief as she walked into the apartment, her eyes darting around curiously - taking in her surroundings. The apartment was a little blander than she had expected it to be, but it was still nicer than the building Birdy and Dale had lived in together.
"It's not that much nicer than where I lived with Dale," Birdy protested as she took the shopping bag Holly was carrying.
