The principal and the others were momentarily speechless.
If what Yuzuki said was true, then Sui wasn't a bad student at all—on the contrary, he was the most exceptional student in the entire school. Far from being expelled, someone like him should be celebrated like a hero.
An outstanding student like Sui could bring unparalleled honor and recognition to the school.
If he graduated and went on to become a leader in the culinary world, it would undoubtedly bring immense benefits to the institution.
"Yuzuki, is what you're saying really true?" the principal asked, his voice tinged with disbelief.
The idea that such an extraordinary genius had been right under his nose all this time seemed unreal. He had never even heard Sui's name before this!
"Yes, everything I said is true. If you don't believe me, you can go to Kagura Sakaya and ask for yourself. Sui-kun is now an honorary chef there. He prepares fifty dishes a day, each priced at 20,000 yen. And they're always sold out," Yuzuki affirmed with a nod.
"Twenty thousand yen per dish?!"
The room fell into stunned silence.
Several teachers had side jobs at restaurants, but none of their dishes were priced that high. For most of them, 5,000 yen was already considered a lot. And yet, a student they had thought of as a failure was commanding four times that amount for his food?
"Yuzuki, why didn't you tell me something this important?" the principal asked, a hint of reproach in his voice. If he had known that such an exceptional talent was part of his school, they would have celebrated it.
Now, as the principal, he felt like he had failed in his duties.
Yuzuki looked a bit uncomfortable. In the past, she had always thought of herself as the school's top student. But upon discovering that someone was more accomplished than her, her pride kept her from sharing the news.
Luna, another person who knew of Sui's accomplishments, had also stayed quiet. Feeling the growing gap between herself and Sui, she had grown somewhat depressed, and thus, didn't say much about his success.
The vice-principal, on the other hand, remained stunned, his disbelief evident. He knew Yuzuki wouldn't lie about something like this, yet he still found it difficult to accept.
Teacher Mitaka, too, was at a loss for words. He remembered how he had mocked Sui for boasting. But if what he heard now was true, then Sui really didn't need to attend this school—there was nothing more for him to learn here.
"Sui, this is incredible. I'm truly happy to hear this," the homeroom teacher sighed in relief, smiling warmly at Sui.
She had never expected Sui to achieve greatness. She only wanted him to study hard and be grounded in reality. That would have been enough for her.
"It's okay," Sui replied with a humble smile, feeling a little embarrassed by her praise.
Everyone in the room, except for the vice-principal and Mr. Mitaka, who looked slightly uncomfortable, was visibly pleased by the news.
The principal, in particular, was overjoyed. He had been troubled by the school's declining graduation rates and was struggling to justify it to the board. But now, with such an outstanding student in their ranks, he felt a weight lift off his shoulders. Despite the school's recent struggles, Sui's achievements would shine as a positive highlight.
With this thought, the principal's gaze softened as he looked at Sui.
Sui cleared his throat and spoke up, "Actually, I came here today to submit my application to withdraw from school—"
Before he could finish, a staff member burst into the principal's office, visibly flustered. "Mr. Principal, the chairman is here!"
"What? The chairman? What's he doing here at this time?" The principal's face flashed with panic.
This school was privately funded, and the major investor behind it was a large corporation. Although the principal held autohrity, his position was appointed.
"It's likely a performance review," the vice-principal muttered, his expression turning grim. Given the school's lackluster results over the past few years, this visit was not a good sign. It was the very reason they had been discussing expelling students to boost the graduation rate.
"By the way, Sui, what was it you were saying earlier?" the principal asked, his tone now far more considerate. After learning of Sui's achievements, he felt less concerned about the chairman's arrival. At least he had some positive news to share.
"The chairman will be here soon. Could we discuss it later?"
Sui had intended to talk about withdrawing from school, but seeing the principal's urgency, he nodded. After all, the process couldn't be completed right away.
Meanwhile, outside the office, a crowd of students had gathered, most of them from other classes, eager to witness the drama. But rather than Sui, their attention was focused on Erina, who was standing nearby.
With her striking beauty and noble aura, she looked like she had stepped straight out of a fashion magazine.
"That girl is so pretty," someone whispered.
"Yeah, I don't think even the celebrities on TV look as good as her. Who is she? Maybe the daughter of a director?"
"I don't know. Maybe she's from some big company."
Erina, however, was fuming.
"Damn it! He said it would only take a minute!" she muttered angrily. This was supposed to be her first date with Sui, and she was irritated that it was being wasted on something so trivial.
The stares and whispers from the crowd didn't bother her—she had long since grown used to such attention at Totsuki Academy.
"Sui-kun is not going to be expelled, don't worry," Luna said, attempting to reassure her with a gentle smile.
"It would be a blessing if he were expelled from this sorry excuse for a school," Erina snorted. "Of course, a much better school will want him."
Naturally, the "better school" she was referring to was Totsuki.
Luna was shocked. Could it be that a more prestigious school had already extended an offer to Sui? Given his current talents, it wouldn't be surprising.
She glanced at Erina, thinking she must be the daughter of a school director or a major shareholder.
"Hmph, what does he think he is? A student at a better school?" Mako muttered bitterly as she stared at Erina with envy.
"Yeah, he'll definitely be expelled," another student added.
"I don't know what kind of luck that guy has," one of Sui's classmates grumbled, their jealousy clearly showing as they eyed the stunning girl by Sui's side.
At that moment, an elderly man in a wheelchair was being pushed toward the office.
