"Make another dish based on the original one?"
Ann asked for confirmation.
"Yes, I'll use the French lemon chicken they just made and turn it into something you'll approve of," Sui nodded confidently.
"Haha, you think you can take that substandard dish and somehow make it to my satisfaction?"
Ann's eyes gleamed with sarcasm.
A dish, once cooked, had its flavors fixed. It was akin to a completed painting—once done, it couldn't simply be turned into a different work of art.
"Yes. Would you like to see it?" Sui asked, unfazed.
"Haha, no thanks. It's impossible."
Ann's lips curved into a mocking smile. Although she was curious, she couldn't believe that this boy—someone who wasn't even one of Totsuki's Elite Ten—could pull it off.
After all, she knew all the top talents at Totsuki, and this guy wasn't among them.
"What, are you afraid?" Sui teased.
Ann stopped in her tracks. She knew full well this was a provocation, but the tone still irked her.
"Since you put it that way, I'll give you one more chance."
Her expression softened as she smiled sweetly, though her words carried a sharp edge. "After all, we at the WGO are kindhearted. Even when dealing with a worthless cook, like that Mr. Sōma earlier, we still show tolerance."
With that, Ann returned to her seat, clutching a thick stack of red-covered books. But the smile had long since vanished from her face. "Go ahead, show me what you've got," she said, her tone now sharp. "But don't waste my time. I'm busy."
"It's fine, it'll only take twenty minutes."
Sui's calm smile lingered.
Seeing his smile reignited Ann's irritation, and she gritted her teeth.
"You're a student of Totsuki, right?" she asked.
"That's correct." Sui nodded.
"Don't bring shame to your school," Ann said, her smile tightening.
"Sui, the dish is already finalized. How can you recreate it?"
At that moment, Megumi approached, concerned.
"Yeah, the flavors are already deeply set in this dish," Sōma added. "If you try to redo it, you'll only ruin it."
In their minds, it was simply impossible.
"Don't worry, I have an idea," Sui replied calmly.
"My friend, I'm counting on you!"
Kujo Eisuke, leading the staff of the restaurant, knelt down in a show of desperate respect.
"Haha, no worries. After all, we're all Totsuki students at heart."
Sui smiled casually.
Eisuke was a decent guy. Even as a senior, he treated Sōma and the others well. Regardless of the system's tasks, Sui genuinely wanted to help.
"You can use whatever you need in the kitchen, and if you want my help, I'm all in!"
Kujo said, rolling up his sleeves, ready to assist.
"No need. Megumi can help me."
Sui said, already trusting in the strong connection he had with Megumi.
"Alright!"
Megumi smiled warmly, feeling a surge of happiness from Sui's trust.
Together, the two entered the kitchen, leaving the others waiting anxiously in the restaurant.
Though Kujo Eisuke found it hard to believe Sui could transform the already heavily garnished lemon chicken into something delicious, deep down, he had a sliver of hope. Perhaps the young man truly had some magic.
Twenty minutes flew by in no time.
"Still not done yet?"
Ann checked her watch, frowning.
Just then, Sui and Megumi emerged from the kitchen.
"All set. Please, have a taste."
Sui presented the dish to her.
"Cold Noodles with Shredded Chicken?"
Ann blinked in surprise at the dish before her. If she remembered correctly, this was a fairly common dish.
"Yes, I shredded the chicken from the French lemon chicken and paired it with cold noodles to create something new," Sui explained with a smile.
"Even if you shred the chicken, it will still have flaws in texture. Pairing it with cold noodles doesn't magically fix that. You can't turn this into a perfect dish."
Ann frowned, her skepticism clear.
"Just try it," Sui insisted. "I've cast a little spell on this dish—the flavor's entirely different now."
"Hmph, trying to be mysterious, huh? Fine, I'll see what your so-called magic is."
Ann scoffed, picking up her chopsticks. She tasted a piece of the shredded chicken along with the cold noodles and cucumber.
To her surprise, the expected sweet and greasy taste was completely absent. The shredded chicken was refreshingly light, perfectly paired with the sweet sauce and crispy cucumber. The noodles were springy and had a wonderful chew, enhancing the entire dish with an unprecedented freshness. The overwhelming sweetness from before had vanished entirely.
In that moment, An felt as if her entire body was enveloped in a cool, refreshing sensation, like walking through a peaceful forest.
"This... how is this possible? Did you actually cast a spell?"
She asked in disbelief, her eyes wide.
The entire restaurant stared at her, shocked by her reaction.
Had Sui really made the impossible possible? Could he have breathed new life into the already ruined lemon chicken?
"Well? Does it taste good?"
Sui asked with a slight smile.
Ann's face flushed. Though she didn't want to admit it, she had to concede that the dish had indeed been transformed. The chicken, while still the same, now tasted entirely new and invigorating, far surpassing its original version.
"How did you do this?"
She asked, unable to contain her curiosity.
Everyone else leaned in, eager to hear Sui's explanation.
Sui smiled and began to share his secrets.
