The letter

The housekeeper or the butler as he liked to call himself smirked at the piles of dead bodies in the villa, he thought to himself that his job was complete, and he just had to report back walking towards the room of the parents who owned the villa, he smiled as soon as he saw the dead bodies of the man and woman.

"Now to check on that snobbish daughter" he said to himself, before he could turn around, he felt the cold feeling of a gun kissing his bald head. He froze thinking it was one of the assassins the person sent out of fear he shouted "It's the housekeeper".

"I'm aware" Athena said.

"Now don't you think you have some explaining to do? hmm housekeeper?" Athena cocked her head to the side as she asked.

"Mi-miss please don't think that way, i had a family emergency i had to attend to" The housekeeper sputtered, he couldn't help but curse his carelessness, he felt a shiver running down his spine.

"Now you of all people should know i'm not stupid, hmm housekeeper want to have a go again?" the housekeeper couldn't help but piss himself remembering the nightmare he wished to forget.

"I'll ask a question, pawn or mastermind?"

Knowing full well what his role was in this he stated that he was a pawn, Athena wasn't very surprised either. She didn't have any use for him, so she shot him in the head and kicked his body aside, walking into her parents' room she decided to burn their remains and create a fake body to place there.

FIVE HOURS LATER UNDER THE VILLA'S BASEMENT

Athena stood up from where she sat with her parent ashes in an urn glancing down at the fake bodies, she made of herself and her parents, she dragged them to the elevator leading to the upper floors, placing all the bodies in where there are supposed to be she returned back to the underground floor and took the urn before putting a bit of the ashes in a tiny black glass vial necklace, she wore it before she went back upstairs to her room with the urn containing the remaining ashes.

She walked back downstairs, dragged the housekeeper body down to the basement, took a liquid vial from a table walked over to the body and poured the liquid on the body, looking at the body sizzle and decompose she nodded.

Suddenly feeling tired she walked upstairs and fell asleep in her room

AT THE CHURCH

Evans glanced outside from one of the windows on the upper floor, looking at the sun shining a bit too brightly, he caressed the ring on his finger, feeling footsteps behind him he twirled his finger, and the ring vanished from sight.

"Is it almost time?" the person behind him asked

"Yup in a day, everything would change"

"What about the little girl, you said she would be back?"

"She'll be here during that period of time"

"When do we leave?"

"In four days, after the army arrives"

The person behind him nodded and then left, leaving him all alone to think. The ring on his finger came back in sight and he continued to caress it, while looking at the sun.

"It's almost that time huh, I hope this time around you can change things" he murmured.

Athena woke up from her really short nap, while groaning she glanced at the mirror opposite and then noticed her body covered in filth, it didn't help that she felt like all her bones had been broken, she stood up and then walked into the bathroom, filled the bathtub, took off her clothes then climbed in it.

"Apparently, mum and dad were aware of what was going to happen, the documents and everything" she thought

Thinking back to what had been on the document, she laughed thinking

"So, whatever is going to happen would be part man-made and part nature, jokes on the Government ha, they're probably not expecting it"

"at least it would be fun, the Apocalypse should be fun, the liquid I drank from the vial, should start acting up in about five hours, while the bars should start about.....now" immediately she thought that a heart wrenching scream tore out of Athena's mouth, she felt as though, her bones were being broken and being remade, she felt as though she was dumped in boiling hot oil, Athena fainted.

An hour passed before Athena opened her eyes, she took a shower to wash away the grimy stuff from her body and then walked towards the mirror in the bathroom, she glanced at her reflection then noticed that her skin had become milkier and her baby face became more babyish, her shoulder injury seemed to have healed with just a faint scar that was quickly disappearing from sight. Walking out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around her body, she raised her hands and if anybody was in sight they would see the surroundings have ripple-like movement, seeing that she smirked.

After putting on a cargo pant and a singlet top, she took out a backpack and packed a few clothes, a combat boot and guns and ammo in it, she walked towards the safe opened it, took out the ring and wore it, she then took out the envelope and used a knife to cut it open, there were two letters in it, she took out the first one it read:

Dear Athena,

This is your mother, I believe by now I and your father are both dead, and you've read the documents in the safe. If you're asking, then yes, we knew what was going to happen, how you ask? Then I'll let you know that on Atherena, at least 30% of the population has superpowers, we call them Mut Neferu your father and I have the skills of seer and I a diviner, and you have it too, but the government doesn't know as we registered as skill less, diviners and seers don't have the best life on Atherena, at two years of age you were showing signs of being a seer, having nightmares all the time, so we had to seal your ability but don't fret the seal will be broken on the night of the red moon. The ring in the safe should contain the space we've prepared for you, we don't know how the inside would turn out, but we've stocked it up for you, it contains everything you'll need for the Apocalypse.

To activate the ring, a drop of blood is needed.

Love,

Mom.

There were tear stains on the letter indicating her mom had cried, Athena felt like she was the worst daughter ever, she questioned how she could be so oblivious to everything around her. Athena was a child that's a bit closed off, most of the time she shuts the world out and there wasn't really anything for her to care about, when she was given birth to, she didn't cry no matter what the nurses at the hospital did to make her cry, she only started to cry and feel emotions at two when her abilities started to manifest, she was also more connected to the world due to it, when her abilities were sealed she reverted back to being in her own little bubble and she didn't cry or show much emotions afterward, and she didn't care about the happenings of the world around her and this explains why she missed out on so much.

the language is Ancient egyptian and it can be translated to Mut meaning mother, it is also the name of the egyptian mother goddess, while Neferu means blessed. i find the egyptian culture beautiful and i don't mean to offend anyone by using the mother goddess as a reference in my novel, if it's offensive please let me know.
