Mission Failure

They met the rest of the team at the gate of the base, eight vehicles were stationed there and was also capable of carrying five people each, when they got there the captain of the supply team was giving out orders.

"You guys are to stay behind the military team all the time, one step ahead and you're dead also do as you're told" He glanced at the Athena and the others who were just arriving and scoffed before saying "I won't be repeating myself anyways, the ladies are not to rely on the men for protection" he continued while looking at Athena, meanwhile Athena was talking to Raven about how to scam the military team for firearms and bullets, this was something Damien taught her on their way here. 

The captain of the supply team saw that Athena wasn't paying attention, sneered and then decided to separate their group, "You over there, speaking to the girl you're with me, while you and you are with the military team, the rest go in group of threes".

The guys glanced at Athena who gave them a nod, nodded back and then walked to where they were assigned, the captain of the military team walked over to give them the go ahead to board the vehicles.

"Umm excuse me, but I'll need a weapon, I don't have one and I believe you guys are aware I can only operate with firearms" Athena said, looking at the military captain.

The military captain looked at the tiny human who was speaking to him without fear, nodded then tossed her a bag which she caught with ease "Okay everyone in the vehicle, stay close and do not fall behind" 

Athena was in a vehicle with two men one of them was the man with a beer belly and a soldier, they were all carrying backpacks and sacks, they drove for a while in total silence, before the vehicle came to a halt, they waited in bated breaths in the vehicle till they heard a knock on the side before they all climbed out of the vehicle.

They all waited in a single file, when they saw the signal upfront, they moved in a single file, where they stopped at was at one of the largest shopping malls in city B before they could even enter, they encountered their first zombie group and then all hell broke loose.

The teams sent out to deal with the supplies and zombies were not trained on how to kill zombies and could only rely on survival skills, so they had no knowledge of following orders and where exactly they're meant to attack to kill the zombies, Athena and the guys had also been separated so they couldn't work together either, this mission was a total failure in other words. The military captain tried to issue out orders to the teams, but he failed to understand that zombies were without logic and strategy won't work. Athena and the guys were able to protect themselves and some of the people around, some others were also able to protect themselves for instance the military captain and two other soldiers, but the supply team captain and the others were all dead or rather transforming into zombies.1

The captain feeling the situation grow out of control issued out an order that they were all able to follow "Fall back, we have to regroup", he felt something was off because the zombies were eight in numbers but now, they were about thirty-four, and no other zombies had appeared from within the mall, but he couldn't figure it out.

They made their way back to the vehicles and since they were all able to fit in one vehicle, they took one.

Back at the base.

"You mean to say that only seven of you out of the forty you took were able to make it back alive" the major general asked. 

"Yes, sir"

"And you couldn't get any supplies, correct?"

"Yes sir"

"Explain to me clearly how this is possible I gave you forty men, and you came back with six plus yourself, how did your team survive these past few days, when you went out to scout?" 

"Sir I can't explain clearly, but it felt like the zombies keep multiplying even when they're killed" Athena and the guys exchanged eye contacts but kept mum "It wasn't like that the past few days when we went to scout" The captain was very distressed, he didn't know what was going on either. 

"Dismissed, you're to go back out there tomorrow just you and the few that survived" the major general waved his hand, clearly annoyed, he glanced at Athena who was the smallest in the group and wondered how she survived, seems like he had to pay attention to her. 

Athena looked back at the major general looking at her, before looking away, just as they were about to leave, they heard the major general speak

"I'll come with you on tomorrow's mission, i need to personally witness whatever it is you're talking about".

"Yes sir" 

Back at the apartment.

"Athena, you'll have to be careful from now on, i feel like the major general will be keeping a close eye on you" Evans said

"I'm aware, thanks"

Athena brought little Marcus out from the space so she could play with him "Did you have fun in there today or do i need to change anything in there for you?" Athena asked while crouching to his level.

"I had a lot of fun sis" 

"That's great then"

Athena was about to say something else to the guys when she collapsed "Looks like she's having a vision, no need to panic Raven" Evans told Raven who went into full mom mode. Raven picked her up and dropped her on the bed in her room, then sat on a chair to watch her, while Evans went into the kitchen to prepare noodles as that's the only thing, he's capable of making.

Little Marcus climbed on the bed looking worried, he had an idea of what was going on as he has seen it before "Brother Raven, I know where the southside base is at, but I don't know how to get there"
