After a while, we reached a huge shrine entwined in wildflowers, as if the shrine was always meant to be there covered with trees and flowering bushes. A miracle of nature, it was truly breathtaking. A beautiful lake flowed through the shrine adding to its charm.
I asked:
"What are we doing here?"
He explained:
"I need permission from the Angels to train you."
I was confused:
" Don't you already have permission? I mean haven't all the Gods agreed to this assassination plan?"
"They have but we need to make it official."
It's not a problem with me as long as it didn't include any ceremonial dance or some oath-swearing. Daniel took my hand in his and held it tighter than usual. I had a feeling something was off.
I slowly turned towards Daniel and quietly inquired about his tense behaviour. He murmured in my ear:
"Be alert, Don't be fooled by the beauty of this shrine."
"But why are we wandering around in such a weird place?"
" Because this is the bargain-making temple, where humans and demons, gods and spirits sign contracts with blood. A contract made here can never be broken. So stay vigilant, demons come here to lure innocent humans to fall prey to their wicked contracts."
I took a deep breath, cold spiders walked down my neck and spine.
"How are we going to make the contract, you mentioned blood, so I am a little worried."
The light vanished from his face like that night and he growled:
"Be patient, naive girl I am the only one who can't be patient about blood contracts, because I crave your blood, Heir of Angelina."
He pinned me to a wall and bared those fangs again. He was about to bite my neck but he was the one who screamed with agony.
A girl in white lashed him with a red hot chain. A strike, and another one. Before she could hit him for the third time I yelled at her to stop but she continued hitting Daniel.
So I stepped in front of the chain and the girl was blasted back by a wall of light that had been released from my trembling hand. Immediately several other maidens in white came and asked me to follow them.
I refused: "No! I won't leave him."
One of them said:
"My lady, please come with us, we will protect you from the Devil Prince."
My blood boiled.
" He is my protector, not someone from whom I need protection, so leave us in peace. Otherwise, I will not hold back my power."
Daniel had fainted after taking two lethal hits and here I was threatening these maidens with the power I didn't even know I had a few seconds ago.
We were in a very bad situation.
