Right before me was a man with eyes so black, the darkness seemed to dwell in it.
He had short dark hair that stopped at his shoulder which was unusual for Fae as Fae men usually had long straight hair.
He didn't have a sharp eye like we Faes did, rather it seemed that he had an ear like the one I felt.
He had a perfect jawline and in the moonlight I could see a dimple in his cheeks.
His gaze was so fierce it felt like he was looking directly at me.
"What are you doing here little girl?" He demanded. "Do you have a death wish?"
I swallowed heavily.
"I got lost." I eventually found my voice.
He was so tall that I felt like I was looking right above a tower.
He squatted down to me and everything in me screamed at me to run, run!
But I stayed.
Where I was running to anyways?
Then he caught my arms and I began to shake in fear.
"What are you?!" He demanded. "Why are you eyes blue?!"
My eyes, blue?
I shook my head. "No my eyes are black."
A smile pulled up on his face and I knew that the smile was nothing welcoming.
"Are you calling me a liar?" He asked. "Or better still Faes do not lie, so why do you?"
I began to breathe heavily.
I looked down at what he was wearing and saw it was dark leather.
It was open at the front and displayed a chest with a necklace.
Then I saw something that I never noticed.
Wings. He had dark wings.
I looked back at him.
I had read books.
I was still a child but I had read almost all the books in Papa's study and I knew what he was.
There was only one explanation at who he was.
He was a Vampire.
And I began to fear. Everything in me began to tremble.
He looked me over and I saw his face become grim.
"What's your name?" He asked me.
"My papa told me never to tell my name to strangers." I said trying my best to display my good behaviors.
To my greatest surprise he laughed.
"Well if your papa cared about you, you wouldn't be in a cave about to be devoured." He said.
He rose up to his feet and I looked up at him.
The moonlight shown of him and he looked like an imaginary character.
There was something about him, something that made him seem, sad.
He picked me up, and in the blink of an eye, he swooped up towards the top of the cave and busted out, breaking the rocks.
I screamed, but nothing happened to me.
I opened my eyes and saw that I was on the ground and he was covering me, protecting me.
He let me go, and then I looked at him.
"Run home." He told me. "And do not look back or you will die."
I wanted to tell him thank you, but I was forced to obey.
I ran off in the direction of where the town was.
And I knew, I knew that at the age of eleven, I had fallen in love.
Fallen in love with a monster.
