Hurried footsteps echoed on the asphalt as councilors left the courtroom, and each departed to go to their respective homes.
The sky had darkened by the time the meeting was adjourned. Justicar Reynolds paused to stare at the horizon.
The soft orange color of the setting sun was still visible from afar. A few stars could be seen above, creating a beautiful sheet from below.
"Good evening, Justicar," a voice interrupted his thoughts. Justicar Reynolds turned and found Ysabel standing behind him.
Some council members rushed to get home before the skies grew darker and glanced at them.
But Ysabel ignored them, focusing her attention on the man before her.
Justicar Reynolds faced Ysabel, bowing as he realized she had purposely followed him.
"Your highness," he uttered, noting that Ysabel came alone. The former palace maid that usually came with her was missing. "To what do I owe this pleasure?"
