CHAPTER 18

We were standing in Lucas’s backyard. It was filled with flowers and had a pond with a few fishes in it swimming peacefully. Ahead lay the house, it was not like the mansion but close enough. The house looked comfortable.

“Let’s go inside,” I said

“Y-yes.” Kaleb’s voice cracked a little. He was weak and needed care immediately. I took his hand to support him and lead our way towards the door. Everything was quiet except for the crickets chirping nearby. It felt peaceful….away from all the chaotic events.

We waited for a while after ringing the doorbell when the sound of the lock opening finally occurred. It was the maid who opened the door and led us inside. The interior seemed spacious and not overcrowded with furniture like other houses, the lighting was just about right, not too dark nor too bright.
