"Are you feeling any better?" Isabella inquired, her voice softening to a concerned whisper as she gazed at William.
He responded with a gentle nod, "I'm fine, don't worry."
"But I can't help feeling that the attack by the Shadow Wolves last night wasn't random," William confessed, revealing his nagging doubts.
Isabella's words sliced through his contemplation like a cold, stark blade, "The attack was just a diversion."
His eyes widened slightly as he asked, "What do you mean?"
"The city guards were all drawn to the eastern village last night, dealing with the onslaught of Shadow Wolves. But today, I received some troubling news from the milkman. Apparently, a different village, about 8 kilometers west from the city, has lost all of its inhabitants."
William frowned, taken aback by her words, "Lost all of its villagers? What does that mean?"
