Attention 2: Something unexpected

His eyes zeroed in on where her presence was strongest. He could hear her footsteps as they drew nearer with every step that she took, the hall became quieter as if they could all sense the power emanating from her until it finally became silent with only the sound of her heels clicking on marble tiles as she made her way out.

"Are you a fool?" Helios uttered through gritted teeth. Even the humans could feel it. Their silence was not only due to the new presence or because they were eager to see who the next entertainer would be but because of the aura that surrounded her that had pulled their attention to her.

"Do you feel that?" One of the supernaturals present asked. The power was immersed and out of control.

"Keep your eyes open, this can also be a trap," the man who had warned the others of Helios's presence replied. It was tempting but they had to be careful.

"We know that, Master Zel," someone else replied, a frown etched on his face.

"Good that you know," the one known as Zel replied.

Oblivious of the thoughts of Helios and other creatures, slowly and steadily Elia made her way up the podium fully aware of the eyes on her. Some were more piercing than others while some were just curious. Her heart was rapidly pounding against her chest almost causing her to waver but she steeled her resolve. She had decided to do this regardless of the danger so she would, no matter what the case may be.

She came to a stop and turned around to face the crowd when she reached where the microphone had been set for her use, Eliana shut her eyes and drew in a deep breath. She then raised her hand to the microphone and that was when something unexpected happened.

A sudden gust of wind filled the banquet hall. Screams from the women rang into the air at the sudden occurrence. Many ran to hold on to something as soon as possible.

"What is happening?" A woman shrieked while holding onto a seat as if it could save her from whatever was going on.

"Take cover everyone," the security team tried making their way to the woman who seemed to be the cause of the problem.

The earth shook the moment Eliana opened her mouth and she had to clamp it shut again. Her eyes went wide as if she was just realizing what was happening, was going on around her. Everyone was startled, scattered around the hall fighting for their lives except one man who stood tall and still as if he was not affected by what was happening. A few others could be seen standing as well but unlike him, she could feel something from them and could even see a faint glow around them. Her eyes returned to him and she caught the frown on his face and her heart sank.

Her heart ached just seeing that frown and look of disapproval on his face. Another tremor had her blinking and staggering backwards a little but her footing was never misplaced. But the same could not be said for the humans who fell and screamed at the top of their voices for help and in fear.

"Come to me," she heard him say to her and wondered how he was able to do that when it was so chaotic and the distance between them so great. "Eliana," he called her name and for a split second, Eliana thought she saw his eyes change colour. There was not a pupil in his eyes anymore, it was all black, as dark as an abyss but it returned to the ones she had seen before.

"What do we do?" A man asked, looking at the security team who had their eyes on the woman still standing at the podium. Somehow, these particular men seemed to be used to what was happening already and were not as affected by it.

"Those who can still move, protect the others, and help them out of here" the leader of the team instructed even without taking his eyes off the woman.

"Stay where you, Eliana, I will come to you," Helios spoke again, his voice as low as before but she heard him all the same way, very clearly. They both seem to have realized something, the security team were hunters and they were out for her.

"Okay," Eliana replied with a small nod of her head. She watched him leave where he stood, turning left while she took a step back when she heard the men standing in front of her take a step forward simultaneously.

"Get ready to open fire, remember not to kill her. We are taking her in for interrogation," the leader instructed and his comrades answered in unison.

"Yes, Sir,"

"Are we going to let them hurt her," one of those still standing asked his subordinates. The girl was far too powerful to let her die. She could be a good asset to them. They were waiting to see what Helios would do but he didn't seem all that interested in her but they could not be too sure as he was yet to leave the hall. His presence could still be felt even if they could not see him.

"No, but we must be careful not to be recognized," another replied. The hunter must have mistaken them for just other humans or they are more interested in the girl, that was why they haven't paid attention to other people.

"Do you see that, Master Zel?" his subordinates asked when the ground shook and something in the shape of a door appeared behind Eliana. She turned around and immediately took backwards steps causing another tremor. Two more doors appeared to her right and left.

"Interesting," Zel uttered with a faint smile. "Get the girl and we leave," he instructed.

Meanwhile, Helios had stopped walking the moment the first door appeared. The energy he felt coming from it was one that he was very well familiar with. It was not one of this world but of his world. The girl was connected to his world. This was something he had only assumed but now it had been proven right.

He heard what the other creatures were saying and he frowned but he didn't have the time to deal with them as he could see the hunters raise their weapons to shoot at her.

"Eliana!" Lilian's voice rang through the chaotic atmosphere.

Eliana turned in the direction Lilian's voice came from and it was at that very moment that the leader of the hunters gave his order…

"Fire…"
