The interface was very simple. There were several categories on the main page, ranging from the weapon skills and techniques to movement, mental, hand-to-hand, beast skills etc, everything was available there.
On the top was a "Request Resources" section and right below it was Hao Xuan's name with the number 1,000 in front of it.
"Brother, what is this number in front of my name?" Hao Xuan asked No. 1.
"Oh, my bad should've told you about that. As you can imagine, the competition is extremely high and resources are limited. So the higher-ups have decided to assign points to every action, which can be earned by us. For example, we can take on some quests, challenges, complete tests to get these points. You use these points to buy techniques and skills or some rare cultivation resources," he explained.
"Every new member gets a thousand points to spend on anything they need, that's what those numbers are. When you get your storage ring it has a builtin function of monitoring those points so you don't have to worry about anything."
"Hmm, is there anything good that I should go for at first?" Hao Xuan asked.
"Haha, there is nothing bad here. Only the best of the best are available to us. But still, it mostly depends on your personal choices. Everything is good if you know how to use it. Just choose something with a high grade and it will last you for a while," No. 1 replied as he got up.
"I'll get everyone together to make an introduction. We will be working together as a unit so you have to familiarize yourself with them," he said and walked out.
Hao Xuan turned his attention back to the screen and started browsing. He thought about what he needed right now and decided to take a look at the glaive manual first.
As he closed his eyes the Glaive manual appeared, but it looked different this time. It's cover looked like it was made out of solid silver. While Hao Xuan was observing the changes in the Glaive manual, another book appeared, blood red in color, which caught Hao Xuan by surprise.
On its cover were the words "Wrath of Deimos". He hesitated for a few seconds but then decided to open the first page and read the introduction.
"Deimos is an ancient Demonic God of Terror. It feeds on the feelings of dread and fear that befall its victims. With 999 arms it rips the souls out of its victims and feasts on their blood. Described as one of the most feared beings on the battlefield, it has no conscious to speak off and has been known to explode into bouts of mass-slaughter."
Hao Xuan was certainly impressed by the introduction, but it still didn't explain what type of technique it actually was, so he moved on to the next page.
"Wrath of Deimos is a hybrid weapon and summoning type technique. Once cultivated to its highest level, the actual Demonic God itself can be summoned. If used along with a weapon, multiple arms can be summoned with different weapons to reap the lives of any enemies around you. Note: The heart-blood of fallen foes can also be used to cultivate."
It was exactly what Hao Xuan needed. Techniques like this were made to be used against large crowds where the user could just jump in and start killing.
Hao Xuan didn't remember how he got the technique but he wasn't about to question it, it was a good thing either way.
He opened his eyes again and looked at the screen.
"I have a weapon technique, now all I need is a weapon itself," he thought.
He clicked on Request recourses and another page opened up. There were many categories there. Hao Xuan selected "weapons" and then placed an order for a sword and a Glaive.
As he finished placing the order he noticed that his points hadn't changed. He looked up and around for No. 1 but he was long gone. So without much thought, he went to purchase another technique.
After pondering for a few seconds he chose an elemental technique called the "Infernal Rapture". It didn't belong to any single specific weapon type and could be used with almost any edged weapon.
Its main selling point was that it turned the user's Qi into black thunder which was released in a sequence of eight strikes.
Each strike had 40% more power than the previous one. Meaning the first strike would have the power of 140%, i.e 40% more than his original attacks, and the last strike would have 320% more damage, for a total of 420% extra power.
Hao Xuan happily checked out and a light came from the screen, falling on his forehead, and another book appeared in his mind with a full black color with the words Infernal Rapture on top.
His points decreased to zero in an instant and the screen went black.
Hao Xuan closed his eyes again and opened the new book. The first paragraph said, "Found in an ancient tomb several hundred thousand years, no one has ever been able to unleash its full power. Requires a lot of time and work to learn each strike with the difficulty increasing every single time. Experts believe the amount of effort required to completely learn the eight strikes is not worth the gains, but instead, cultivators could learn several other techniques to obtain the same results much faster."
"What the fuck? Why didn't they mention this in the summary? This is a damn scam for sure, trying to waste my points," Hao Xuan complained.
Just as he was about to look for First, he came to him.
"Ninth brother, come. Some of the others have a bit of free time so let's meet them," he said with a huge grin.
