We were almost done when Lou and Sterling strode in. Tall and slender, made for speed and deceit, Sterling was oddly solid. He wasn't as broad as a typical Alpha, but by the Gods, he was strong. Even for werewolf standards, he was strong. He was the fastest in our pack too.
It seemed a hollow observation. His size and characteristics were irrelevant; He'd overthrown Malcolm Asher and his place as Alpha was undeniable. He was a good Alpha, in his own special way. He had the sharpness for it. Even still, I wondered how fate would have treated us if our lives had been altered, one way or another.
/"Mommy!/" Lou knocked me out of my thoughts. He tried climbing up me, his fingers pinching against my flesh as he grabbed handfuls of my shirt. /"Daddy sayed 'lil shit pants'./"
