Being marked (part two)

Marcus's p.o.v

I opened my eyes early in the morning. Watching the beauty of the sun's rays through the window, I could almost forget the events of yesterday.

The different bed and the different decorations in the room were a reminder that I was not in my room back in Narsia. Everything was different from the things I was used to back home.

I heard the door to my room being opened, seeing as I was in unfamiliar place. I turned around to check who it was and what they wanted.

Queen Reina entered the room elegantly with a crown on her head, the way she walked was so graceful expected of a queen. Behind her were a few maids that carried what looked like breakfast.

I moved to seat up, "Aahh," I let out from the sudden pain on my neck. I brushed my finger over my neck to find a small wound on it.

"Are you alright?" the queen asked me.

I couldn't respond to her as I had no idea what was wrong with me. She moved up close to me and examined my neck. I held my breath, her hand was soft and gentle. Her eyes had concern on them and her plum lips were stretched into a smile.

She seemed like the rays of sunshine that one would like to bath in the morning.

"This looks like a bite mark," she let out in a soft worried voice. "Who marked you Marcus?" she inquired.

'Marked me?'

The term she used was one that I was not very familiar with. I have no idea what she means by who marked me. I have not been marked by anyone and I wouldn't want to.

"No one," I replied.

She didn't seem to trust my words. She looked at my neck again and met my gaze. Something about the look in her eye told me that being marked wasn't such a good thing.

"It is definitely a bite mark. You are married to the king, so whose mark are you bearing?" she questioned.

The maids placed the food on the table and excused themselves from the room. I was left alone with the queen who was adamant in finding out who marked me.

If I understood what she meant by the term then perhaps I would have been able to answer her but what do I say about a matter that I understand nothing of. The truth of the matter was that, I went to sleep right after arriving here.

But if I tell her that, I am certain that she wouldn't believe me.

"I don't know," I answered being truthful. She seems like a nice and sensible girl and I hope that she trusts me.

"The mark is on your neck. How can you sa..."

She began to ask and stopped when we both felt something move on the bed. I turned my head and looked to my side and sure enough there was something under the blankets.

It looked like a person. Covered from head to toe on the same bed as myself. My heart skittered, I was already in trouble about this mark thing. A man or woman turning up on my bed was not a good idea.

"Is he or she here right now?" Reina asked. She got up from the bed and grabbed hold of the blanket. She moved to pull at it and I closed my eyes. I didn't want to see who it was that was in bed with me, it was too much.

After a few minutes of not hearing anything from the queen. I peered at the queen to check what was wrong. Her hands were twitching in anger and her eyes were frozen to the spot on the bed.

It looked like she was struggling to come to terms with what her eyes had seen.

I was afraid to turn my head. If she reacted like that on seeing the person in bed then I wonder what I would do if I see that person. It was my first day in Zayion and I didn't want to start off on the wrong note. Everything should be fine for my people's sake.

If the king were to find out that I had cheated on the night of our wedding then only goodness knows what the outcome would be.

"Ho..how can th..this be possible," the queen's voice trembled as she spoke.

Her reaction was making me more and more curious of what was going on. I truly wanted to know who it was that was beside me. But my heart was not to strong to let me look.

The man or woman must have left a hickey on my neck. That is what the queen was referring to when she said that I had been marked.

But the rest of my body feels fine which means that nothing happened last night. Only the hickey, which could mean that one of the king's many women must be behind this.

They could have done this to get the king to leave me and send me back to Narsia. Thinking this, my palms became sweaty and my heart started racing in my chest.

It was all too much to take on. They couldn't even wait for me to settle in.

"Th..this isn't real," the queen let out in a weak voice. The more the time passed the sadder she got and the disbelief filled her eyes. It was weird that she was reacting like this when I am the one in trouble.

But it could be that she has a good heart and was only trying to help me out. She was feeling bad for the king because, I am his now and someone else had shared the bed with me.

The suspense of who the person is was killing me. The person's breathing was also worrying to me, it was just too tempting.

Gathering some courage, I looked back to my side to see the person that had marked me. My eyes widen with shock as they came to see the face of the man sleeping beside me.

My body tensed understanding the queen's surprise. The person on my bed was someone I had not even thought of, I had not even considered the possibility of him being there with me.

"The king," I let out shocked.

Even as the words came out of my lips I was still not able to believe it. The man who had probably spent the night with me was the werewolf king, my husband.

As much as I was relieved, i was also scared. This was not settling well with the queen and no doubt the other women would feel the exact same way.

I turned around to explain myself to her, I had no idea that the king was with me on the bed or that he was in my room. I didn't want her to misunderstand me at all, it was not my fault.

The queen had tears flowing down her cheeks. What her eyes had seen seemed to have left her weak and frail. Her hands were trembling to her sides.

"Nothing had happened between us," I told to her. I got up from the bed and walked over to her. I held her hands in mine.

"I promise that I am telling you the truth. Nothing happened between the two of us, I have no idea where he had come from," I told.

It was the truth not just words I uttered to get out of the situation. She pulled her hands away from me, her soft gaze from earlier turned into sharp glares that sent a shiver down my spine.

"Y..you expect me to believe you?" she asked me in a shaky emotional voice.
