Weeks had passed, his birthday went by without much ado. Adrian hadn't expected much else. With Aethelstan kept seperated and knowing Avery, the other had not been given a breath of fresh air without supervision.
Neither had he.
Everywhere he went there was atleast one teacher watching, mostly the same mismatched eyes of Alaric Mystvale. A rather epic name if he said so himself.
No wonder the teacher was quite imposing.
Even when distanced between walls, he could feel the eyes and he coudln't deny he felt the need to listen when asked something.
"Hey vampire! Teacher tells you to get off!''
Not even the rude interruption broke his concentration, one leaf circling like a tornado in his arms.
In the past weeks he had been given task after task, excercises to strenghten his magic and books full of history. And other different kind of tasks, they wanted to seperate him from the students, that inluded his classmates although less, keep him busy so he wouldn't notice.
Adrian had even been kept so busy that he hadn't even gotten the chance to eat or even see human food.
Placing his own misfortune onto the student he glared, it wasn't one of his classmates so he didn't particularly care.
The other scurried away, growling in anger but to scared to say something.
''Tch coward.''
The wind shifted unnaturally, abandoning his task he twirled off the tree and landed on the ground. A flare of black magic cutting through the tribe of the tree and left him annoyed.
Mister Mystvale had been testing his capacity since the begining so he knew exactly what was expected of him.
Adrian couldn't even bring himself to not to that. His favorite tree, a spot he had been sitting on since day one, he couldn't miss that.
If he focused and contained his magic in a smaller seal, less magic would be needed and the effect would be greater.
Something not all that easy wich is why he had been learning to control his magic through small excercises that needed a lot of concentration while he multiplied his magic more and more.
If succeeded he could use multiple seals at once but now was not that time as he found no difference in his seal compared to the first day.
Maybe the magic moved a little smoother, otherwhise he couldn't pinpoint much.
Stalling, he wondered if the teacher expected him to come to him or if he had been given a little more freedom to see what he would do and how the other students would react to him.
Obviously someday they had to loosen their grasp, let's test it out!
No sooner did he go back inside, Adrian could feel dozens of eyes, everyone knew of him being there but few had seen him outside of his class.
Barely looking where he was going, he followed the scent of freshly prepared food.
It had been weird to return to his own body, everything aorund him was still the same but he had changed and the longer time he spent in another world the more his soul would grow.
Apparently.
A very dangerous something, if his soul power exceeded his physical and magical range there could be drastic consequences.
Something to worry about in the future as now he only wanted food.
Beside the fact that he did not know how to smoothen te difference, he had looked but for now only found spells that would grow each aspect of him.
Wouldn't be of much help.
He hadn't eaten in quite a while too, saving up his pills till the last possible moment.
With each one he took the ability the still the hunger lessened, so there was that.
As he wasn't sure the academy would actually provide blood and his ability to eat human food is something he wanted to keep hidden, he just stretched time.
Pausing for just a second, audible drawing in a breath, he went in. Prepared for the voices, the whisphers, on the other hand he most definitly was excited to see the different kinds of food! Ones he had never seen in the vampire kingdom and few that he had ever tried.
Expectant gazes where upon him as he let his own flicker in uncertainty.
"So it's true a vampire.''
''Unbelieveble.''
''Here?''
Ignoring it all, he slowly and with careful examination passed by the trays, students moving away.
He pretended not to notice nor was he interested in them, what he was in though was the ingredients. It look tasty.
''I heard a vampire can't eat human food. Is that truly the case?''
Drawing his lips taunt, he turned to the voice.
One reflecting the owner's voice as she smiled disdainfully, the smirk etched upon her face as she spoke again.
A noble no doubt.
''What? Has the baby vampire no courage and neither a tonque?''
That sounded alot like something Cyra would say in the spur of a moment however she wasn't here....wasn't anywhere anymore.
A fact that left him saddened, the same sadness he used in his voice.'' I...i''
''There is word going around they ripped you from your home, seeing you that fact must be true." A shallow laugh left her and only barely could he stop the twirl of his eyes as his hands fiddled.
Unsurprisingly the whole crowd was watching, most where curious, others took everything in with glee and pompeous faces.
Clueless ones gazed upon him with pity, wondering if they should help.
What he was interested in,however, was why the aura of some burned brighter than others.
When he was hungry his eyes clouded red and even magic distribution didn't change that.
Two different interests he buried for later.
"Aren't you going to grab something?''
''Not...hungry.''
Laughing again she tossed away her long blackish hair, her neck now showing, a triumphant expression on her face.
If it hadn't been for the bet ,that he caught with one ear closed, and the flicker of uncertainty, he would have believed her show. A liar, just like him.
Gasps and shocked murmurs went around nevertheless silence descended.
Throwing down his eyes, he waited, interested in what she would do.
''If you can't find something there, why don't I be of service?''
Her approaching footsteps thudded on the ground, the only sound as the tension grew.
Going back up and down, Adrian sallowed, tonque shortly licking his lips. Before long a hand grabbed his ,no sooner did he feel the harsh beating of her heart, revealing she was in fact nervous despite her bravado.
With eyes as red as orbs, voices overlapping once more, he let his upper lip struggle not to reveal what everyone was no doubt itching to see. The confirmation of it all.
Pointless as his fang still revealed itself, retrieving his hand, he stumbled away.
Wide eyes open, seemingly only now realising what was happening, he backed away until stopped by the glass food displays.
The lunch servers scurried away to a safe distance as his breathing heightened, the foolish lady continued forwards as he let his mouth twitch with every step she took.
It was only when she came too close again that he snarled in warning, fangs visible to everyone.
You would think that she would stop but no, her own hand pulled his forward, right over her beating veins. He had underestimated his vampire senses, he could even hear her blood rush in the tiniest of veins!
Even the expectation of the crowd was intensifying, going along with it he opened his mouth, eyes now the deepest of red.
"You got some real courage, young lady."
Stopped by the hand of his teacher on his mouth, his presence used to his own advantage, he was harshly turned away.
''Calm down, Adrian.''
Grabbing the other's arm, he went from rapid breaths to slowed down, carefully thought over ones.
Pitying eyes could be found if one knew were the look and with it he accomplished another goal
