The Dark Pact

"Why are you late?" He questions, sounding exactly as I remember "You know, traffic." I apologize, making a turn to trudge to him majestically. "If you say so," he nods, the night preventing my view of his face "Thank you, Azazel," I mutter, my tone neither high nor low. "Why did you want to see me?" He polls, his voice resounding through the dark abandoned warehouse. "Yes Azazel," I smirk and try to hide the slight fear of reject nagging at the back of my head. "What is it about?" He implores his arm going to rub his prominent chin as he fixes a stare at me. "I want my soul back," I inform, matching his gaze with mine. "How do you plan on getting it back?" He quizzes, stepping a few inches my way into the light. "With a deal Azazel, or more specifically, a pact," I tell using all my energy to stop my feet from moving backward. "That is very difficult Xander, you sealed your vow with a drop of blood," he argues, the moonlight falling more on his face as he tilts his head upwards. "And I'm here to make and seal another," I converse awaiting a reply. "No, you got what you wanted, to be rich, famous, and loved, what else do you desire?" He asks, his supernatural blue eyes having a scary glint to them. "My soul," I repeat. "Plus I know you love making deals Azazel, no matter how you try to hide it, I see the excitement and mischief you try to conceal." "Same way I see the little fear of rejection bubbling within you, I detect it in your eyes, I hear it in your heartbeat, and the blood pumping through your veins," he sneers in response, squaring his wide shoulders to come off as intimidating. "Hence we understand each other well, we know you've got more to win than lose, and I've got more to lose than win," I confess. "You are right," he lets out in a husky tone, his red lips curving into a hint of a smile. "So what do you say demon, you in?" I invite, my eyebrow raised "I am," he gleams. "What's this pact about?"

Chapter 14

Playing: 🎶Snitch by Ayra Starr ft Foushee🎶

-Male best friend-

Helena's POV

"Look who decided to come to see me," I beam, walking towards my male bestfriend in a pair of 3inch stilettos.

"Stop pretending as if you didn't know I was coming," he snorts, picking up his 6ft.3inch muscly weight from the hood of his smoking red car.

"I thought you were kidding around like usual," I smile, reaching him to be enveloped in a warm brotherly hug. "I've missed you, bro."

"How many times will I warn you not to call me that," he feigns annoyance, his jaw set and thick eyebrow lifted above his brown eyes shielded by long lashes that are for sure wasted on his male gender. "We could get married you know?"

"At this rate, I'm starting to believe that, because as it stands there's no significant male other than you in sight," I smile sadly, watching how his high cheekbones compliment his handsome face. His complexion is the same shade as mine glowing in the daylight.

"You might be wrong about that," he says, leaning to whisper in my ear. "Look discreetly but there's a hot guy who's been gawking at you and giving me the stink eye."

I follow his words and disengage our embrace to allow more leverage to turn around and see who he's referring to. I'm not surprised but elated to spot Xander, rather these feelings crash as I see the disgust and judgment on his scowling face.

"Anyone special?" Khalid who I forgot to mention his name inquires, a knowing look on his features.

"Not special," I deny as he walks ahead and circles the front of the car in his grey tanktop that shows his toned arms and black ttrousers. But certainly a pain in the ass."

"Hop in let's discuss this while I drive us to get ice cream, my treat." He winks and pulls open the driver's side while I do the same to the passenger side and settle into the soft cushion, it's covering not as plush with leather as Xander's but the familiar pine scent air freshener welcoming me most adorably.

"You have me addicted to this smell every time," I inhale, my lips stretching upwards while he chuckles and starts the machine.

"I'm proud to hear that," he winks and swerves the car sharply, making me roll my eyes as the grin spreads on his face any time he does this.

"Baby," I scoff, hoping he hears me.

"Well here's my number, so call me baby," he bellows in a sing-song voice, mocking me.

"Asshole," I smirk, knowing he won't have a comeback for this, song-wise or not.

"You were going to fill me in on lover boy out there, so get on with it," he glances at me for a second, urging me to speak.

"Remember that celebrity guy I told you about?" I implore, praying he recalls.

"Yeah, the one who---- shit, so that's him," he lets out in shock and I nod. "No wonder he seemed a bit familiar."

"I think so?" I ask in question more than a statement, not having any other response.

"So why did he ignore you that way, thought you two were getting cozy," he wiggles his brows.

"We were never getting cozy," I argue and go on to fill him in on the recent happenings, starting from where I stopped the last time I gave him some juicy gist about me.

"What you are trying to say is you are the one who began ignoring him in the first place," he voices, offering me a pointed gaze.

"Yes but--"

"No buts," he shakes his head, proceeding to break out in a laugh. "You females can be so confusing."

"And you males can be so annoying," I mutter, glaring at him, not happy with his response especially as he continues to produce fits of laughter. "Scumbags and idiots."

"What's got her panties in a twist?" I hear a voice like Allison's ask through the window and I whirl, stunned to see her standing right there.

"How, when?" I blurt, resisting the need to stammer, my mouth gaping like a fish.

"When you were lost in your head, cussing out an innocent celebrity," he jeers, the same time Allison grants herself leverage into the back seat.

"What did I miss?" She polls, poking her head in between us, her red hair rubbing on my face as she twists her neck left and right to peek at us.

"Nothing," I mumble hastily, and I groan, observing how suspicious I sound.

"There is something," Allison grunts, switching her attention to Khalid. "Tell me what she's on about."

Khalid to my dismay obeys her commands and I'm left pouting in my chair, my arms crossed as I stare at Allison's reaction to his words through the head mirror as she chews on gummy bears in the middle of the back seat.

She appears so attentive to what Khalid is saying while looking beautiful in her multicolored crop top and black Aphrodite trousers which she finishes off with pink Nike ✔️ boots.

The simple observation takes me back to that night in the woods where I found that cap lying on the floor. I need to take it upon me to return that piece of accessory to its owner one of these days.

"Helena is at fault in this, I've told her severally," Allison's voice calls me out of my head and I resume my frowning mood. "You begin a game but forget you can only win or lose."

"Wise words Al," he nods, whirling to grin at me. "So don't be a sore loser."

"I hate you both," I groan, covering my face with my palms as their giggles surround me.

"You love us," Allison says and bends to kiss me on the neck.

"Abeg getaat!" I mutter, swatting away her lips from my skin.

"What does that mean?" She queries, puzzled.

"It's a Nigerian statement that explains, and I quote 'please get away from me," Khalid informs and I almost chuckle, almost, at her dumbfounded expression.

"You've hurt my feelings," she sniffs, dramatically pressing her palm on her left breast.

"Good, because you hurt mine every day," I throw over my shoulder with a sweet smile before I get out as the car crawls to a halt in the only parking space left in front of the red-bricked building. The words Everything Icy and Creamy are written above it with an ice cream cone that has eyes and a big smile.

"Come on baby, let go of all that bad blood," Khalid whines, exiting the car after me and proceeding to fling his hand across my shoulder. "I've missed you two for a long while so we shouldn't spend our time quarreling over a man."

"I thought guys liked that?" Allison quizzes, and appears on my left side.

"Yeah, we do, it helps boost our ego," he winks. "Though it's not so entertaining when you are a straight guy arguing over another straight guy with your female friends. It's weird."

I laugh as I notice him shiver and share a look with Allison as we walk into the colorful interior.

"So tell me, ladies, what would you like to have so I can go place the order," Khalid requests the instant Allison and I get settled in the nearest booth.

"Chocolate flavor with cookies and sprinkles," Allison responds and I lend her a weird look at her combination.

"I'll need a tub of strawberry ice cream to drown out my emotionally strenuous day," I sigh, slumping in my seat.

He nods and departs, leaving Allison and me in comfortable silence. A minute later he returns and sits down beside me, saying our order will be brought by a waiter in a few minutes.

"Fill us in K, how was your stay in Dubai?" I ask ready to hear about all his adventures and how many females he's shagged.

"I hope you are ready," he grins, rubbing his hands together as his eyes light up in excitement.
