Present Time
Blanca's mind weighed on Dimitri like a mess of bricks placed on his chest, a burden that was only heightening in the hours since she'd opened and seen Dimitri's mind. Now, Dimitri breathed in. He waited for her to allow him to glimpse his past. Yet, there were still many unanswered questions that Blanca knew did not make sense. What she'd seen inside was the very thing he'd dreaded, his origin, and Morgana, the death of his family, and the mistake he'd made in not making sure he had completed the task were soon coming home to roost. He did not doubt that.
Unfortunately, Blanca hadn't been certain if she'd seen Gabby, the butler's ancestor in the unexpected past was the human boy his forefather, or days—Gabby's ancestors must be the ones who knew what happened after Dimitri was buried and what happened to the young witches and werewolf pack who survived.
But does it matter?
"Dimitri, are you OK?" Blanca asked.
