The Dark Lord's Maiden

|STATUS: COMPLETED| Once upon a time... Rumour has it that a certain king became so desperate that he blindly made a dangerous pact with a seductive demon goddess who ruled the realm of 'Yonder'. She bore him a son who would, in time, fulfil the 'Dark Prophecy'. But... What if falling in love with a maiden of pure heart and clear conscience could free him from the overwhelming darkness buried deep within? >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 'My god! What happened just now?' she asked herself while pressing her fabric rigidly against her breast cage. She retreated two steps away from him as she reminisced about the event of barely a few seconds earlier. 'It—he almost had me? The devil himself? I—I would have easily given myself to him?' Observing her confusion, Briceus gave off a curt smirk before standing up. "I wouldn't have guessed that you'll be a woman of low esteem and easy to use, Elizabeth. Perhaps I was wrong in thinking you were different" "Your Majesty, I —" "I'll have you know that I have no interest in your lowly unattractive body, Elizabeth so you don't have to attempt to hide so much and appear so startled" 'Lowly body? He said this to me?' ". . . If those are the foolish thoughts flying around your tiny skull, you would be damned to imagine such because I have met far more beautiful maidens but you are most certainly the one who has impressed me the least in character" Elizabeth felt spited even though she hated herself for weakly yielding to his charms just now. "If I were so lowly to the king and if I am everything you've described me to be so far, then I will advise that His Majesty should quickly demand a refund from my family and hand me back to them!" Briceus was unmoved by her bold utterances. All the while she had spoken, he had his eyes glued to her lush pale strawberry lips which for some reason had begun to lure him in. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> BOOK STATUS VOLUME 1 (SOLD OUT) - COMPLETED VOLUME 2 (BRICEUS AND ELIZABETH) - COMPLETED VOLUME 3 (BOOK OF SIDE STORIES) - COMPLETED VOLUME 4 (THE PRINCESS AND HER BEAST)- COMPLETED [This book will have several volumes. It Shouldn't Be The Devil!

Having a little knowledge about herbal plants and medicine potions courtsey of being around her Bessie a great deal, Elizabeth could identify a few of the herbal plants she was seeing—{Sweet woodruff, Rosemary, Sage, Lemon balm... but there was a handful of a particular plant Sigrid was holding onto. The...

"I learnt you're getting these to prepare Her Majesty's tea but why that one?"

"What one? Oh you mean these Angelicas?"

Beth nodded in affirmation.

"Hm, you seem to know about herbs for you to have asked."

"I do... a little." Elizabeth revealed, pridefully.

Sigrid seemed impressed.

"Then you should know that the roots or seeds of this plant helps with heartburn, stomach gas, and even when there is a loss of appetite. I'm also going to need the Sage too but a very minute quantity."

"And for difficulty in sleeping." Elizabeth added.

"Yes it is primarily for the sleep purpose that I am getting them for the Queen—the Angelicas I mean."

To these words, Elizabeth nodded an "Okay" alongside before letting her cherry lips drift apart to allow for speech...

"Yes, lady Sigrid. Those words were exactly the ones my Bessie told me. I have seen her do a lot of medicines from such plants. I am more accustomed to the Rosemary-"

Elizabeth hushed impulsively while she pondered on her foolishness.

'Even though she helped me, I still don't know her so well to trust her with all of my life's history,' reasoned Elizabeth by this time.

Meanwhile Sigrid was highly impressed. First, she could tell from the brief conversation so far, that Beth was a curious one. She appreciated the girl's intelligence and even though she [Sigrid] didn't mean to pry, she had a question of her own.

"Who is Bessie?" Sigrid asked, harmlessly.

However, unbeknownst to the court lady, that question had just opened a wound in Elizabeth's mind—a wound that seemed more like a beautiful memory of two days ago until the events of her [Elizabeth's] yesterday, had swiftly taken a sudden turn.

At this point, Beth's eyes sank in also lowering her head in the process. The fact that her lady's countenance swiftly transformed into a sullen one caused Sigrid to feel that something was out place... or rather, that she [Sigrid] had said something out of place.

"Elizabeth... talk to me please. Did I say something out of place to cause you to become entirely sad all of a sudden?" asked Sigrid with an apologetic look on her face.

"No, kind lady Sigrid... I just remembered my reason for itching to come see you in the first place... Even though my stomach has chosen to betray me right this minute."

Sigrid looked perplexed at the news.

She is hungry? Why has she not eaten?

"Milady, I have no means of understanding why you'll choose to starve yourself just for curiosity sake."

"That's because I have so many questions, lady Sigrid and my mind keeps on troubling me. Hence, I'm beyond eager to find a means to cure myself of this torment."

Sigrid smiled only halfway.

"Milady, being curious is smart but if you want to survive here then you might want to cut on that some more," said the court lady.

Cut on that? If I want to survive here? Wait there is some major misunderstanding. Why is everyone talking about my stay here? I do not want that.

"Lady Sigrid, I think you must be mistaking. I am-"

"Oh no! Her highness! I should get to her at once. I actually stayed here longer because I was waiting for you but now I must... hurry!"

'No no no no she can't leave yet. I have so many questions. I-'

At this point, Sigrid was already headed for the curtainless courtyard's entrance in a bid to exit the garden quickly.

"Lady Sigrid! Please my questions!"

Elizabeth shouted once she saw that Sigrid was disappearing swiftly yet elegantly from her sight.

By now, Elizabeth was extremely desperate. Her hunger pangs meant nothing to her now.

"Just wait for me! I will be back here to meet you! If I can't come soon enough, I'll have some one come by to get you from here!" Sigrid called out.

Even though she was in a hurry, she felt somewhat responsible for Elizabeth's stomach outrage.

'She needs to eat for god's sake! It's almost noon.' Sigrid contemplated all the more as she sauntered on.

Soon, she was completely outside Elizabeth's vision.

Realizing this, a broken-spirited Beth prayed in her heart that her lids would not betray her by making it rain or else it would not be a good reputation for her.

'A cry baby? When did I ever become that? My Bessie did not raise me up to break easily. There must be a way... Now what do I do?' contemplated Elizabeth as she thought long and hard.

"I can't just stay still? Oh Bessie! I wish I could fly right over to you already... my joy giver! How worried you must feel about me."

Elizabeth sighed.

{A bit more than five minutes later}

Elizabeth still had her mind thoroughly plagued by her curiosities.

Due to the numerous paths in which Beth had been led out to the Castle's garden with the guidance of Oletha, she found it hard to rethink her way back in.

Her mind could only play it out like an incredible maze plot.

Also as a result of the incident from yesterday, she had learnt the hard way not to go about walking in paths she shouldn't be in.

Hm.

"Maybe I should really just stay here and wait like I was told. There is a lot here to feed my eyes with, anyway," said Beth to herself as she forced out a smile.

Taking a walk in the direction of the flowers, she began to appreciate the: Irises, Salvias, Peonies, Lupins...

"Oh! The roses! They are... pink?"

"You like pink roses?" a thick voice echoed from behind her.

With that baritone voice which resonated in her ear drums, Elizabeth stopped in her tracks at once.

Her feet literally became numb as she chose to believe it shouldn't be who she was thinking it would be.

"Oh god! One request at least... It shouldn't be the devil! I am not prepared to face him yet." Elizabeth cried silently as she froze on impulse, unable to co-ordinate her legs to move from the spot.
