A familiar name

Lily was caught off guard when Devon opened the door with only a towel on his waist. She removed her eyes from his taut body and looked elsewhere.

Devon chuckled lightly when he saw how nervous and unmoving she was; he must have misunderstood her intentions.

"Um...I'm sorry for umm..I.. need..." Lily was a mumbling mess. She wasn't comfortable with how his skin showed too much and started to rethink why she came here in the first place.

"Do you want to come in?" Devon stepped aside and asked like a gentleman.

"Don't worry I'm comfortable out here," Lily chuckled to hide her nervousness, but she failed miserably at it.

"Give me a minute," Devon said and closed the door. A little longer than a minute, the door opened to reveal Devon in a long silk nightgown.

"Are we good now?" Devon jokingly spread out his hands, showing that he had put clothes on.

Lily nodded with her hands to her mouth as she fought the urge to laugh at his silly act.

"So why are you here?" Devon finally asked.

"I don't know my way around the palace," Lily answered meekly with her head lowered while she fidgeted with her fingers.

"Wait...you mean you've been wandering alone in a castle full of hungry vampires?" Devon was shocked at the ignorance of this frail girl before him. Not only did she almost get herself a death sentence by casually blurting out her identity, but she was also walking around in the night with no one close by. She had one hell of luck to still be alive.

"It's just that..." Lily wanted to explain but couldn't find the words to portray what she felt. How would she tell him her anger and pettiness caused her this?

"Don't you think this is a sign?" Devon slowly closed in on her, "I mean, it led you to my room right?" He smirked.

Lily's eyes widened, and she stepped to the side with her heart beating erratically. Why did she not think a situation like this would happen?

She looked at him cautiously. There was no one in this quiet quarter, he could do anything he wanted with her and her screams wouldn't even leave the thick doors of his room.

Devon slightly smiled and scratched his chin. He had never been rejected so outrightly before.

"You don't need to be defensive, I was just saying," He turned to Lily who looked like she was ready to run any moment from now.

"I need to go to Aziel, do you know his room?" Lily said intending to cut their time together short.

All smiles immediately vanished from Devon's face. So she came to him to find another man and not just any other man, it was that bastard-cursed prince. He had never liked Aziel and Lily's closeness to him only fueled his hate.

"Why are you looking for him? You can stay with me instead," the corners of Devon's quirked up as he proposed.

"Can you just take me to Aziel please?" Lily asked taking a step backward. She made sure to look at Devon attentively and prepare herself for any move he was about to make.

"Fine," Devon sighed and shrugged his shoulders. "It's your loss, many women die just to get close to me," He walked past her and Lily followed closely behind him but made sure to keep her distance.

"What's going between you two? I mean you and Aziel," Devon asked while still leading the way.

"Nothing," Lily replied from behind him.

Devon was not surprised about her answer; he wasn't expecting anything much when he asked that question. He would make sure to satisfy his curiosity by conducting a private investigation first thing the next morning.

"Are you really human?" He suddenly asked.

"I am a human, without a doubt, my Lord," Lily answered with a low sigh. How many times does he want to hear her say she's human? What exactly was he getting at, Lily thought confusedly.

They had gone out of Devon's quarters and entered a familiar quarter. Lily was sure they were close as she remembered seeing these wall designs when she first came out of the room.

"I'm a hundred percent sure your mother wasn't human," Devon voiced thoughtfully and clicked his tongue at the end.

Lily didn't understand what he meant at first and her eyes widened when she realized. "Do you know my mother?"

"Who doesn't know Marina?" Devon swiftly turned, catching Lily off guard. "We're here," he said.

Lily was so engrossed in the conversation that she didn't realize they had gotten to Aziel's door.

"Who did you just say was my mum?" Lily questioned ignoring the fact that they had gotten to her destination.

"Goodnight," Devon smiled and patted her lightly on the shoulder before taking his leave.

Lily stood unmoving in front of the door deep in thought.

"Marina," she mumbled. She was sure she had heard that name somewhere.

Her thoughts were disturbed by the uncouth noises coming from the room.

"Oh, my world!"

"Ahhh! Take it easy, my Lord!"

"Ahh!"

A female voice screamed incoherent words at the top of her lungs. Lily wasn't a child, unlike other maidens, she had not being thought a thing about sex education.

It was her first time hearing sounds like that. The person didn't seem in trouble, but the person also didn't seem out of trouble as well.

The female voice got louder and more pitchy and Lily couldn't help but think she was in trouble.

Aziel needed to let some steam off after everything that had happened and nothing beats a woman in your bed to help quench your anger.

Ever since Lily arrived, he had never looked at any other woman or called servants to pass time as he always did. And even now that he was wrapped in the sheets with a woman, all he could think about was Lily, which added to his anger, making him plunge harder.

Lily was not wrong to think the screaming lady inside might be in trouble as Aziel had no mercy in plunging her insides.

The servant was kneeling on the bed while Aziel pulled her by the hair and mercilessly moved in and out.

He grunted almost about to get his release when he suddenly heard repeated loud knocks and the door swung open.

Lily hurriedly rushed inside the room and was only met with darkness. It was late at night, but the darkness was very unusual given that people were inside.

"Is anyone here?" She asked carefully as she walked further into the room.

Aziel separated himself from the servant and lit the candle by the bedside.

"Get out," he said to the servant, and she immediately carried her clothes and ran out naked.

When Lily saw the naked body of the girl, only then did she realize that those sounds weren't drawn out by torture but because they were doing things meant for married couples.

She looked at Aziel who sat bare on the bed with sheets hiding his manhood.

Aziel looked at her and a cocky smile settled on his lips, "I didn't get my release because of you, how would you compensate me?" He asked cunningly.
