Chapter 7: Returning Home

After a few hours, Alex, Issen, Lena, and Violet had gotten near Alex's home.

The Kingdom.

The Kingdom was a city of vampires that had been established thousands of years ago and has fought off all attacks from werewolves, humans, and fellow vampires alike. The current leader was Alex's grandfather. He had lived through it all for the past 2000+ years. He had fought wars and even survived the vampire civil war that claimed the lives of well over a hundred Ruler Class vampires. He had earned the right to be the ruler of the Kingdom, and there were very few who could even argue that claim.

Victor: We're almost there. You three ready?

Alex: No, honestly, I would've preferred never coming here again...

Lena: I know...we're sorry, Alex.

Alex: It's not your fault; if it weren't you, it was just going to be Faye or Dante. I would've had to come back, no matter what.

Issen: If you need anything, hit me up. Hopefully you don't run into Violet or, even worse, Faye.

Alex: Knowing my luck...

Victor: Yeah...I do not pity you.

Alex: Thanks for the support, Victor.

Victor: Anytime. Now, we're just about here.

The car pulled up in front of a giant building that towered above all others in the Kingdom. It was a giant castle, home to the top people of the Kingdom and, of course, Alex's grandfather himself.

Issen: You ready?

Alex: I'm as ready as I'll ever be.

Lena: Me and Issen will be with you in the throne room. We'll support you.

Alex: Thanks.

Alex, Lena, and Issen stepped out of Victor's car and looked up at the building.

Alex: Home, sweet home...

Victor: Alex, good luck, man.

Alex: Thanks, man. See you around.

Victor waved at Alex before driving off, leaving Alex to his fate. Alex looked at the building, and many memories from his youth came flooding back, but none of them were that pleasant. He sighed before walking to the front door.

As he opened it, he saw the giant hallway and, at the end, the big set of doors leading to the throne room.

Alex: Here we go...

Alex and his two friends walked forward towards the doors, passing by several other vampires who had begun whispering to each other because of Alex's arrival.

Vampire 1: He's here...

Vampire 2: I thought he ran away?

Vampire 3: Wonder if Violet knows?

Alex: Gotta say, I didn't miss the whispering.

Lena: Well, your return was going to bring a lot of attention.

Alex sighed before they finally reached the door. Issen opened it for the group, and when they walked inside, they saw quite a sight. A few dozen vampires are all surrounding the throne in the center of the room, and of course there is the man sitting on top of it. Alex's grandfather, James.

James: If it isn't my long-lost grandson, welcome home.

Alex: Not glad to be here.

James: Hm. So tell me, how has your time been with humans?

Alex: Better than the time I spent here. Why?

James: Just wondering. I was really starting to think I would have to send Faye or Violet to come get you, but at least you came peacefully.

???: Alex!

Soon, someone jumped up from the rafters and landed right in front of Alex. She had long, two-toned hair, with the majority of it being pure white with a mix of black, and she had heterochromia, as her right eye was red and her left blue. She was quite beautiful, honestly, and fairly ...blessed in the asset department.

Alex: Faye...

Faye: It's been so long! I've missed you!

Faye hugged Alex tightly.

Faye: You left me all alone...and I've really missed you.

Alex: Faye...why are you being nice?

Faye: Nice?

Faye quickly pulled out her special dagger and pointed it at Alex's chest.

Faye: I don't know what you mean...

Alex: Still the same as ever, huh?

Faye: I heard you've been out in the human world. Tell me, did you cheat on me with any of those human bitches?

Alex: One, we aren't together, and two, no, I wasn't with anyone.

Faye: Good, good, good. Can't let any of those whores touch my property.

Alex: I'm not—you know what? It's pointless to even argue with you.

Faye: Look, you're finally learning!

James: Enough, Faye. We have important business to discuss.

Faye: Right, right.

Faye quickly moved into the crowd of other vampires, but she made sure to keep an eye on Alex at all times.

Faye: I let you leave once—never again.

Lena: I really hate how she does that. If I could, I would destroy her...

Issen: Calm yourself, Lena. Don't let your feelings control you.

Lena: How did you-?

Issen: We've been friends for years; I know you well enough to see how jealous you are.

Lena: I'm not-

Issen: Save it. Now the question is, where's Violet...?

James: Let's get on with why I summoned you here, Alex.

Alex: Please do so so I can leave.

James: About that, you'll have to stay for a few days.

Alex: What?

Faye: YES!

James: Faye!

Faye: Sorry.

James: *sighs* You see, the Miyahara Clan from Japan will be visiting us tomorrow; you will be their escort.

Alex: Don't you have hundreds of thralls that could do that? Why the hell do you need me?

James: Sending a thrall would just be disrespectful to another family with a Ruler Class vampire. You will escort Toshikiyo, his wife, and his three daughters around the castle.

Alex: Okay, once again, why me? I understand why not, Faye.

Faye: Hey!

Alex: You know I'm right.

Faye: Fair.

Alex: But Dante is still a good option. Or even Victor, Lena, or Issen.

James: Because, Alex. You will be escorting your future wife as well.

Alex: ...What.

Lena: HUH!

Faye: I REFUSE TO ACCEPT THIS!

???: What...

Issen: Oh, there's Violet.

Murmurs spread throughout the room. It wasn't abnormal for Ruler Class vampires to mate with each other, but considering how few there were, this type of news was major.

Alex: Did you say my "future wife"?

James: That I did.

Alex: I refuse.

James: It's not up to you.

Alex: Bullshit. It's my life, and I'll decide who I marry.

James: Incorrect. Your marriage partner was decided over a decade ago; this will just be the first time you meet.

Alex: Then tell me, just who will I be marrying?

James: Misaki Miyuhara, the firstborn daughter of the Miyuhara Clan. I heard she's quite the beauty. Together, you will marry and, of course, have children.

Alex: I don't even know this girl, and you expect me to marry her?

James: That's what you're here for. You two will meet and hopefully get ready for your marriage.

Alex: This is such bullshit.

James: It is expected of you. You will produce pureblooded, ruler-class vampire children and help restore our species. Is that clear?

Alex: Not like I have a choice with you anyway.

James: It's good to see you're finally seeing things from my side. Now go to your room; it has been updated to fit your needs. Lena and Issen will escort you.

Alex: Whatever you say, "my king."

Alex angerly walked out of the room as he punched the walls, putting a hole in them, before leaving, while the thoughts of the others were racing at a thousand miles a minute.

Lena: A-Alex is marrying someone... no, I...

Issen: Oh shit Alex...things just got a lot tougher for you.

Faye: No, no, no no, no, no, no! I will slice that bitch up if she dares to touch Alex! He's mine!

Violet: Alex...

James: Hm...he may very well save our species with this marriage. He'll get over it in time.
