THE TWO CONDITIONS

"Daddy! Daddy!"

Adrianne looked at the girl she is with. The kid's long hair reaching her waist was wavy. The girl has soft features, making her look more innocent. She has little cat eyes in the shade of brown. And a pointy nose that complements well on her features.

Adrianne took a deep breath. The girl was repeatedly saying the word "Daddy" when obviously the other side couldn't hear her little voice.

"Daddy! I'm here!" The tiny voice once again can be heard in the air.

The legends in Quirrene were really true. The souls from the dead bodies, like us, had no part in this world. With no words, she was staring at the people ahead of her, intently.

A woman whose obviously older than them went closer to the guy that the child is calling, "Daddy." She hugged the man who was still beside the unconscious girl. Even though he didn't know what his wife is doing, Adrianne saw it all. The woman looked at the child's body, smirking.

What happened next became funny in her eyes.

"Love…"

"Eva… my daughter! Why did these horrible things happen to my daughter? Now I regret leaving you two in the house. I should not have gone out!" The man cried out and hugged her wife tightly.

Regret could be seen right before his eyes. Adrianne rolled her eyes sideways. These lowly humans were truly dumb, to begin with. They would just know the real worth of a person when it was too late already

"Love, I'm sorry! I should not have slept earlier! It's all my fault… If only I didn't feel sick, then I should have taken care of Abigail," The woman suddenly cried out, making Adrianne laugh really, really hard.

The tears were fake, and the man seemed not to notice it at all as he diligently wrapped his arms around the woman's body, comforting his crying wife.

"Shh…" the man shushed, wiping the tears off the woman's eyes. "It's not your fault, okay? I know that you're feeling sick, these past few days. I should be the one taking care of you and our children."

Adrianne can't believe what she was seeing. She took a deep breath and applauded the act that the girl is currently doing. The woman knows how to deceive a person well. And Adrianne knows about it too thoroughly, since she had used these techniques countless times already.

"Daddy! She's a liar! Don't believe her, Daddy!"

She was enjoying what she's seeing. The girl was really unbelievable, but sadly, it's not new to her. Blaming yourself for others to pity you was already normal to see in her kingdom. Many vampires in her kingdom were doing that, and no wonder it was working well every time.

"Miss, help me, please. That woman, make her stay away from my dad," Looking blindly at the kid who was holding her hand, she felt a little pity from her heart.

But thinking of it, it wasn't her business, so why bother helping the child who she doesn't even know in the first place?

"Daddy, stay away from her! She's a bad person, daddy. She's a monster! She killed me. She's the one who pushed me!"

Looking at the kid, whose knees are already bent while sitting on the floor, made Adrianne roll her eyes. "They can't hear you. But, you can still come back to life. You're still not completely dead."

The door opened for the child to come back. Just like what they believe in Quirrene, The souls of those who died had a chance to come back if the door that was keeping them, opened.

That means those people can still correct the way they live throughout their lives. It can also mean that they still have an unfinished business or simply for a special reason, which is to change the way how they live before they died.

Those souls can still come back, but not all attempts were successful. Yes, they could cross the passageway, but there's a high percentage that they will be a lost soul who slowly will vanish into thin air... slowly when something went wrong with the process.

But this system has two conditions. The first was for whom the door was. The door was for the child, Abigail. If she wished to come back, then the soul of her dead self will automatically return to her body.

"If you would want to come back into your body, then you can do so." She informed Abigail, who was looking at her cluelessly.

Abigail's body didn't move an inch. Adrianne got curious when her eyes were reflecting fear in them. Adrianne could sense the fear surrounding the child's body. Seconds after and tears were already streaming down Abigail's face.

"Don't you want to come back? Your father surely is sad right now."

Abigail's eyes went up to her. Nodding her little head. The girl opened her mouth, "I want to… but my Auntie, she doesn't like me." She answered with her little voice.

Abigail's face was already wet from too much crying. Slight care consumed Adrianne's heart. Even though she was evil, she still can't stand those people who were doing evil acts in front of her. Hypocrite? Perhaps. She couldn't care less for it.

Sighing deeply, Adrianne thought that only if she can still go back to life, then she would be willing to do so. Once she came back, the people that burned her would taste her wrath. Anger was still consuming her heart, and she was thirsty for revenge. And if only she will be given a chance then— A smile quirked the edges of her lips as an idea flashed through her mind.

Quickly glancing to the little girl's side, Adrianne grinned. "Do you want to make your Auntie pay for all the bad things she had done to you?" She asked without any hesitation.

The little girl in front of her nodded. Adrianne was still looking at the man, who was still crying in pain while holding the body. Eva, his wife, on the other hand, was secretly smiling. 'Finally, no more troubles around. My baby and I can finally have Mike's attention by ourselves,' she whispered in her mind, looking at the victory in front of her.

"I know a way, Abigail." Adrianne continued to grin.

"Really? Then what do I need to do, Miss?" Getting the child's attention, Adrianne went closer to Abigail, who was now eyeing her with curiosity.

The second condition, if the body's owner permitted to change her place with another soul, then the new soul could use the original body in her own will. In this condition, the dead person would be alive with a new soul inside of it.
