Awakening

The rain poured down in torrents as I trudged along the platform, my head hung low. The bitter taste of defeat lingered in my mouth, the memory of our school football team's loss still fresh in my mind. The disappointment weighed heavily on my shoulders, matching the gloomy weather that seemed to mirror my mood.

As I stood there, waiting for the train that would take me home, a sense of unease crept over me. The platform was eerily empty, devoid of the usual bustling crowd. I shivered, pulling my jacket tighter around me, trying to ward off the chill that seemed to seep into my bones.

Suddenly, a force collided with my back, sending me stumbling forward. I turned around, expecting to see a familiar face playing a prank on me. But to my horror, there was no one there. Confusion and fear gripped me as I tried to make sense of what had just happened. How could I have been pushed when there was no one around?

My heart raced, and a chill ran down my spine as a sinister presence seemed to hang in the air. Time slowed down, the world around me fading into a blur. The screeching sound of an approaching train filled my ears, drowning out the panicked shouts of the few remaining passengers.

I desperately tried to regain my balance, but it was too late. I felt an invisible force pulling me towards the edge of the platform. The ground beneath me disappeared, and I was hurtling through the air, towards the oncoming train.

In that split second, my life flashed before my eyes. Memories of family, friends, and moments of joy and sadness flickered through my mind. I closed my eyes, bracing myself for the inevitable impact.

But instead of feeling the crushing blow of the train, I was enveloped in darkness. I felt weightless, as if floating in a void. Gradually, a soft light began to seep through, pulling me towards it. I followed the light, feeling a sense of peace and serenity wash over me.

When I finally opened my eyes, I found myself in a sterile hospital room. The scent of antiseptic filled the air, and the steady beeping of machines served as a constant reminder that I was alive. I tried to move, but a sharp pain shot through my body, reminding me of the ordeal I had just endured.

I glanced around, taking in the white walls and the concerned faces of doctors and nurses. They spoke in hushed tones, their voices barely reaching my ears.

"It's a miracle," one of them whispered. "He should never have survived that kind of impact."

I strained to listen, my curiosity piqued. What had happened? How had I survived being hit by a train? The questions swirled in my mind, but there were no answers to be found.

As the days passed, I gradually regained my strength. The doctors marveled at my swift recovery, unable to explain it. They called it a medical anomaly, a stroke of luck. But deep down, I knew it was something more.

A strange sensation pulsed through my veins, an energy I had never felt before. It was as if a dormant power had awakened within me, coursing through my blood. I couldn't explain it, but I could feel it, a tingling warmth that spread from my fingertips to the tips of my toes.

But as the doctors discussed my miraculous recovery, fear gnawed at the edges of my mind. I knew I had to escape. I couldn't let them discover this power, this abnormality within me. I had seen enough movies and read enough books to know what would happen. They would experiment on me, dissect me, try to understand what made me different.

I had to protect myself. I had to protect this power.

Gathering my strength, I carefully planned my escape. Under the cover of night, I slipped out of the hospital, avoiding the prying eyes of the staff. Rain poured down, soaking me to the bone, but I didn't care. Every step I took was fueled by the determination to keep my secret safe.
