The atmosphere was solemn as every member present struggled to digest the grim reality of a potential global T-Virus outbreak. The looming catastrophe overshadowed all thoughts, prompting the question: before attempting to save Raccoon City, should they not consider saving their own families first?
"Zhang Fan, I'm certain you have a plan. Please share it with us," Jill urged, her composed demeanor standing out amidst the general anxiety. Having lost her family, she could afford to analyze the situation with a cooler head.
"Alright, I won't keep you in suspense," Zhang Fan said with a slight smile. To everyone's astonishment, he conjured five exquisitely cut, heart-shaped gems out of thin air - a yellow, red, blue, green, and a diamond, each larger than a grown man's fist. Their brilliant, iridescent gleam immediately captured the attention of the three women present.
It seemed that all females, regardless of age, were drawn to such glittering treasures. But it wasn't just the ladies; even the middle-aged men, led by Captain Enrico, craned their necks to get a better look. Foster, in particular, appeared almost blinded by their brilliance, almost collapsing in awe. These gems were so precious that each one could cause a worldwide sensation.
"These five gems are known as the Stone of Strength, Heart of the Lion, Mysterious Blue, Soul Gem, and Heart of Africa. Selling them at an auction could yield a considerable fortune," Zhang Fan explained nonchalantly. In reality, these gems, each worth just a single game point, were ridiculously cheap items from the treasure store. Yet, their appearance here was about to serve a significant purpose.
"More than just a considerable fortune," Chris muttered under his breath, imagining the astronomical sum these gems could fetch if sold together.
"What are you planning with these, Zhang?" Captain Enrico inquired, sensing Zhang Fan's intention but seeking confirmation.
"These gems are for you to manage, Captain. Due to certain reasons, Rebecca, Jill, Zhi Dai, and I will be leaving for a while. During our absence, I trust you to use the funds from these gems to establish a base for us. Recruit mercenaries, acquire weapons, and build a strong foundation for survival. Please also take care of Rebecca's family," Zhang Fan instructed with earnest sincerity, leaving everyone in shock at his generous
and trustful gesture of handing over such valuable assets.
"Zhang Fan, I..." Captain Enrico hesitated, overwhelmed by the responsibility of handling such immense wealth. While moved by Zhang Fan's trust, he felt that Zhang Fan himself should oversee this fortune.
"Please, Captain, no more objections. Establish the base as soon as possible. If possible, acquire an island, stockpile weapons and food. If necessary, redistribute wealth to those in need. And ensure the safety of everyone's families," Zhang Fan insisted firmly, placing the radiant gems into Enrico's hands.
"Understood. I won't let you down," Enrico finally accepted, recognizing the gravity of Zhang Fan's request and the critical situation they faced.
"Remember to introduce me to your sister-in-law when I return," Zhang Fan quipped, lightening the mood.
"What sister-in-law? My children are older than you!" Enrico laughed heartily.
The meeting ended on a harmonious note. The next day, the S.T.A.R.S. team collectively submitted their resignations to Chief Brian, who swiftly approved them and announced the dissolution of the S.T.A.R.S. unit. But in truth, the team's unity and resolve were stronger than ever.
With their future plans set in motion, Zhang Fan and Rebecca prepared for their journey. Jill and Zhi Dai were also ready to return to their respective realms, gearing up for their next challenges. Before parting, Zhang Fan shared some basic information about the God Game with the girls and gifted Zhi Dai a copy of the "Beggar's Sect Long Fist" manual and Jill two everlasting, no-maintenance-required 9mm pistols, along with ten thousand bullets, a parting gift for the two.
"Make sure to find us. We'll track you down wherever you hide!" Jill warned Zhang Fan, her eyes betraying a hint of sparkle.
"I truly hope we reunite soon," Zhi Dai added, her voice tinged with emotion.
"Don't worry, we'll meet again soon," Zhang Fan reassured them, sending the girls back to their realms. After their departure, he turned to Rebecca, ready to return as well.
"Rebecca, why didn't you want Jill and Zhi Dai to know about our contract?" Zhang Fan asked, curious about her secretive approach.
"Giggling, Rebecca playfully stuck out her tongue. "I thought it would be a fun surprise for later." Her playful demeanor concealed her true intentions, known only to her.
"You mischievous girl. Well, it's time for us to go," Zhang Fan said affectionately, stroking her hair tenderly.
"So soon?" Rebecca's expression fell slightly, apprehensive about meeting Zhang Fan's other companions.
"Afraid?" Zhang Fan asked, amused by her reaction.
"Who's afraid? Let's go now!" Rebecca declared, masking her nervousness with bravado.
