Chapter 45: "Secrets Unveiled in Steel"

"Who are you, and what am I doing here?" Queen Liora inquired, her confusion palpable. "I am Nathaniel, the Dragon Wizard. I served your husband when he was alive," he revealed. "Yes, he might not... because he was a ruler, and every ruler has a secret. I was his secret," he confessed. Signaling the shadow guard, Nathaniel initiated a motion that shifted the bookshelf aside, revealing an entrance to another room. The old man entered, and Queen Liora followed, finding a room filled with an array of weapons. "Whoa, in this small hut?" she exclaimed, intrigued. She picked up an attractive sword, displaying it with genuine happiness. "The way you hold the sword suggests you are a warrior, my queen," Nathaniel observed, to which she remained silent. "You can keep the sword; it's the guidance sword," he offered. "That means I can't have it, since it's specific for someone else?" she remarked. "Because you are the guidance," he clarified. "Guidance? I don't care about your tales, but I like this sword," she said, closing the sword back. The old man then led her to a dungeon.

Queen Liora followed Nathaniel through the concealed entrance, into the depths of a dungeon. The flickering torches cast eerie shadows upon the walls, heightening the suspense in the air. She tightened her grip on the sword, her heart pounding with anticipation. "Why am I here? What secrets lie within this dungeon?" she pondered, her thoughts racing.

Nathaniel led her to a cell within the dungeon, where a familiar face greeted her—her husband's loyal adviser, Lord Cedric. "My queen, it's a relief to see you. This place holds more secrets than you can fathom," Lord Cedric exclaimed, his voice tinged with urgency. "Secrets? What secrets?" Queen Liora pressed, her curiosity burning brighter.

"In this kingdom, power has been manipulated and abused for generations," Lord Cedric began, recounting a tale of intrigue and betrayal. He revealed a clandestine plot involving a group of influential individuals, aiming to control the fate of the kingdom. As the story unfolded, it became evident that her late husband, King Adrian, had been entangled in this web of deceit.

"Adrian discovered the truth, and that's why he kept Nathaniel and me close. We were his confidantes, his secret allies in the battle against corruption," Lord Cedric explained. "But the forces at play are more dangerous than we anticipated."

Queen Liora absorbed the gravity of the situation, her mind racing to comprehend the magnitude of the conspiracy. The very kingdom she had once seen as a beacon of stability and prosperity was now a den of deception and treachery.

"We need to unveil the truth, to unravel the web of lies that entrap this kingdom," Nathaniel emphasized, his voice resolute. "And you, my queen, are the key to exposing the darkness that lurks in the shadows."

With the guidance sword in hand and a newfound determination, Queen Liora pledged to unearth the secrets that had plagued her kingdom for far too long. The stakes were high, and time was of the essence. As they set out on this perilous journey, the shadows seemed to dance, concealing secrets that only the courageous could reveal.

they both led her to thousands of soldiers known as shadows—Adrian's men, preserved for a purpose only he had known. The queen stood in awe as they gathered around her, displaying unwavering loyalty, chanting her name in unison. It was a proclamation of her rightful place as the leader, the beacon of hope against the impending darkness.
