Past - Joe 2

Three months later, Sophia was given admission to the same school as Joe. She was happy that she would be closer to him now. She thought maybe the distance caused his change of attitude.

The day she wanted to pay her acceptance fees, she checked Joe in his apartment in the school. Since she already has the address.

As she got to the entrance of his apartment, Sophia found a lady's shoes and slippers arranged neatly in a corner. She was even thinking that she was in the wrong place, so she checked the address again and discovered that she was right. She knocked on the door to the room and a female voice answered her, telling her to hold on.

Fear gripped her, but she tried to keep cool. The door opened and a beautiful figure in a red flowing gown appeared. Seeing this, Sophia widened her eyes. Her heart pounded. She forcefully swallowed the lump in her throat.

"I-is... this wing 3?" Sophia stuttered.

"Yes, Can I help you? "The lady asked.

"Is Joe around?"

"No. But if you have any information you want to pass on, I can deliver it. "

"And who are you?"

"His girlfriend, of course." The girl rolled her eyes, looking at Sophia like an idiot.

Hearing this, Sophia almost fainted. She didn't know what else to say. Tears clouded her eyes as her world shattered into pieces. She didn't know how she left the lady's presence. Only to find herself at home crying.

The lady Sophia met forgot to tell Joe that someone was looking for him. When Joe got back home, he started romancing his new girlfriend, Sophia, when she came back. Sophia knocked, and she thought she heard someone say she should come in. So she just opened the door and met the lady on Joe's lap.

"Joe! Joe!" she screamed. Her heart tightens, pounding, ready to jump out of her mouth. Her eyes blurred, tears gathered at the corners of her eyes.

Joe looked at her as if he had seen a ghost. He was surprised because he never imagined Sophia could find her way to his apartment without calling him.

"Sophia," he said, in a stammering form.

His new girlfriend stoop up and ask who Sophia is but Joe opened his mouth and nothing came out. The lady already knows what is happening, so she intentionally sits back on Joe's lap.

Sophia trembled, crying, and rushing out of Joe's apartment. Joe wanted to follow her, but his new girlfriend dragged him back and locked the door.

Sophia was so devastated that she cried silently until she got home that day. Luckily for her, she had met nobody at home, so she rushed to her room and locked herself up. She cried till evening when her parents come back home.

Suddenly, a customer interrupted Sophia's thoughts.

"Aunt Sophia, Aunt Sophia, hope all is well? I was here a few seconds ago, "she said.

"Miss Rose, good afternoon. I'm fine. Let me see the clothes you want to sew, "she answered.

"Here it is. You have my measurement already. I will send the style I want to sew to you later. Enjoy your day," she said as she was about to leave.

"Alright, Miss Rose, thanks for your patronage. Have a nice day," she said happily and continue with the clothes she was sewing.

Sophia's mind drew back to her experience with Joe and how she ended it. The pain she felt from her first heartbreak made her shivered. She locked herself up till the evening when her parents came back home.

Sophia's mother arrive earlier. She knocked on her daughter's door for some minutes before Sophia could come out. Hearing the knock, Sophia quickly jumped off her bed and rushed to the bathroom to wash her face. She rushed out of the bathroom and used a towel to dry the water. She quickly applied a little ointment and face powder.

"Yes, mum," she replied, wearing a fake smile.

"Daughter, you are back. Welcome. How was your journey?" Sophia's mother said as she embraced her daughter.

"Yes ma, I'm back. I'm able to pay my acceptance fees and school fees. Thanks mum," she replied coldly.

Sophia's mother noticed her disposition and called her back as she was about to enter her room.

"Sophia, are you fine? What is the matter? You don't sound happy? Don't you like your new school? "She asked curiously.

"Nothing, mum. Besides, I like the school. "I need to do something in my room," she said as she was about to leave.

Her mother grabbed her hand and drew her closer. She observed she had been crying. Her mind quickly went to Joe.

"You have been crying. How is Joe? What did he do to you?" Sophia's mother asked, raising her eyebrow?

Sophia shook. Her legs turned to jelly, and she almost fell. Her mother quickly grabbed her. Sweat comes up from her head and the water coming from her eyes. Her mother embraces her and encourages her to talk.

Sophia tried to talk, but the crying did not allow her. After much persuasion from her mother, she calmed down a little, though she was still crying.

"Joe has another girl. I met her in his apartment," she said coldly.

"I knew it. I've seen his change of attitude, but I don't want to make you sad. Earlier, I told you. That is why I said you should visit him unannounced." Her mother said calmly.

Sophia's mother consoled her daughter. "If Joe is yours. He will surely come back to apologize. And if not, you won't see him again." She looked straight into her daughter's eyes and say sternly. "Never cry over a boy that wasn't your husband, hmm?"

Hearing this, Sophia nodded, her eyes red with tears.

"I meant your face for smile and laughter. Surely, your man will find you one day. Hmm." She raised her brow and smiled.

"Thanks mum." She smiled.

Sophia quickly decided not to have anything to do with Joe or any man for now. 'I don't want to experience such pain again.' She clenched her fist. 'Now, all I need to do is to focus on my studies.'

Joe did not call Sophia to apologize, though he felt remorse at first. But the lady with him did not allow him. She was just over him. So he forgot Sophia.

Weeks went by Sophia gradually forget about Joe. She had resumed, so she faced her academic squarely. However, everything won't go according to someone's plan. Then...
