Alex was carefully adjusting his tie, when the knock sounded on his door. He couldn't help but smile at the sound, a warm, anticipatory feeling spreading through his chest.
He crossed the room, his footsteps quick and light, and opened the door.
Nora stood in the hallway, her face breaking into a wide smile when she saw him. "Hey," she said, her voice warm and sweet. "I brought you coffee."
Alex grinned, taking the mug from her hand and pulling her inside.
He pressed a soft kiss to her lips, his heart beating fast in his chest. "Thanks," he said, his voice low and soft. "You didn't have to do that."
Nora smiled, a mischievous glint in her eye. "I know I didn't have to," she said, her voice teasing. "But I wanted to."
Alex chuckled, pulling her close.
"Well, I appreciate it," he said, taking a sip of the coffee. "It's good."
