Chapter 031

Oscar frowned. He currently had just one thousand centi points.

He never expected the cost of using *Snatch* to be so expensive.

Yep! This system was a complete rip off.

However, he had already come this far, there was no time to back down.

After successfully activating *Snatch* he saw a loading bar on the system panel screen before a new set of words got displayed.

-[Host has Successfully Snatchf skill!]

Oscar beamed. The process went surprisingly easier than he had expected.

"Back off!" Perry broke off from Oscar's grip on his shoulder.

Somehow, he felt strangely repulsed at the sight of Oscar's wide grin.

This guy needs a good beating!

"You look so confident. Do you dare strike a bet with me?" Oscar shot him a provocative look.

"A bet? about what?" Perry was momentarilly stunned.

"My team's victory of course. What were you thinking?" Oscar shrugged, like what he just said was completely normal.

When those from Benclover Institute heard his words, they erupted into a fit of mocking laughter.

They all thought inwardly;

What kind of sick joke is this?!

"This moron" Russ slapped his temples in embarrassment.

"Lio, not only did you bring amateur players, you even bought a clown to lighten up the mood!" Ben jeered.

"What a bunch of cowards. Just say you dare not take the bet. Why are you all trying to laugh it away eh?" Oscar jeered.

"Fine. Let's hear your bet" Perry gave Oscar a haughty sidelong glance.

"The bet is really simple. It's a five versus one. If I manage to win you all, you get to lick the dust on all our feet. Except for that guy" Oscar pointed at Russ.

 "And if we win?"

"I get to lick all the dust on you all shoes. What do you think?"

"Fair enough" Perry replied with a smile, riling up those from KYC.

"Bastard! you call a five versus one a fair game?!"

"Are those from Benclover Institute so shameless to this degree?!"

"Shut up!" Russ barked, drowning out all the noise.

"What are you all yapping about unfairness? wasn't Oscar the one who chose to compete solo?"

"If anything happens to him, it's his fault for rashly choosing to compete against them himself" Russ clicked his tongue.

He couldn't wait for Oscar to make a fool of himself.

"Just whose side are you on here?" Julian angrily interjected.

"I'm definately not on the side of an idiot"

.

.

Everybody moved to the sidelines, leaving the court open for Oscar and those from Benclover Institute.

After they all got into formation, the game started.

The Point Guard threw the ball towards Perry. He didn't want to waste any time and wanted to go for a direct shot.

When Oscar saw this, a mocking grin appeared on his lips.

Perry jumped, successfully catching the ball. However, he frowned because he noticed his movement fluidity felt off.

But he didn't have much time to brood over this because he felt a heavy force ram against his hand, slapping away the ball.

"Thanks!" Oscar laughed, casually tossing the ball.

 Wham!

It went straight through the hoop!

"Oh" Ben looked at Lio in surprise.

Looks like he had underestimated the opponent.

"Tch. Just a fluke" Perry sneered, not willing to show any sign of weakness.

 "Is it?" Oscar chuckled.

And so the game continued. Oscar fired shots after shots, stunning everybody present. At first, Ben could still maintain a calm expression, thinking that his team would make a massive comeback.

But after the game session began drawing to its end, he immediately became flustered.

Just what the hell's going on!

Not only had Oscar fired twelve successive shots, those from Benclover Institute didn't even score one.

The worst part was Perry's performance. Wasn't he the team's ace in the hole? why were his movement so clumsy.

Finally the game came to an end and the results were laid glaringly in front of everybody.

"Wow Lio. I never expected your KYC to be hiding such a distinctively excellent variable" Ben gave Lio a faux smile.

"Haha. Oscar turned out to be a dark horse"

"Haha" Ben chuckled amicably. But was he really?

"Geez bro! that was freaking awesome!" Jonas gave Oscar a fist bump.

"Those guys from Benclover Institute are insufferably arrogant. But didn't they end up with a crushing defeat by your hands? Haha! that's my bro!" Jonas laughed proudly, while the rest from KYC went over to compliment Oscar.

Afterall, his victory in a kind of way was considered as giving them face.

Only Russ remained where he stood, with a conflicted expression.

As soon as Oscar arrived home, he got a message from his mail.

Apparently, his business registration went successful.

He swiftly called Mr. Weymer, sharing the good news with him.

"Congratulations Mr. Oscar. I look forward to your wave gushing feats in this city's business circle and the world at large"

"Ah. You over praise me. I still need your guidance in navigating the business circle, lest I risk offending some big shots" Oscar solemnly replied.

"Right! I was thinking of purchasing an office building"

"I was wondering if you are accquinted with any Estate brokerage firms that deals with Commercial Structures" Oscar revealed the main reason for calling.

"I think I have one in mind. They are the best in the area and their connection runs deep. I'll forward you their contact details"

"Thank you so much!" Oscar hung up.

Opening his laptop, he logged into the Bond Market.

Since he had already tried his hands in the Futures and Stock market, he wanted to go for something new.

The Bond market was a peculiar way of investment. Many Companies would usually put out Bonds on the market. In a kind of way, these bonds could be referred to as loans.

Say for example, a Transport Company wanted to build a railway station but seem to be lacking in funds, they would put out bonds offers on the market. By purchasing these bonds, an Investor would have to loan the Transport Company a particular amount of money, under the premise of interest payment.

This kind of interest payment was known as the Coupon rate.

Thanks to the skill, *Business Acumen*, Oscar knew this little bit of knowledge.

As soon as Oscar got into the Bonds Market, his interest was piqued by the first offer he saw.

[BOND DETAILS]

-ISSUER: Stanely Cosmetics

-AMOUNT OF BONDS ISSUED: 500

-BONDS PAR VALUE: $2000

-COUPON RATE: 8%

-COUPON PERIOD: Semi Annual

-MATURITY PERIOD: 40 months.

-THIS BOND WAS ISSUED ONE DAY AGO.

.

.

"The Bond Market is really something" Oscar clicked his tongue.

Let's say for example, he buys 3 bonds, that totals to $6k. He would be recieving a total of $480 every six months. That meant if he held the Bond Contract till it's 40 months he would earn $2,880 jus from the Coupon rate. Adding to the $6k he would earn upon the end of the Maturity date, that would give a total of $8,880!

The profits were good, however, the Yield date was just too long.

"Why am I dilly dallying? it's not as if I'm doing this for profit"

And so, Oscar directly bought the remaining 480 bonds, spending a whooping of $960,000!
