Chapter 022

All through the ride on Goldie's limo back to his place, Oscar was so lost in thoughts.

The Contents of the Conversation he had with Mr. Martins kept on playing on repeat in his head.

To think that the son of the former world's most powerful man worked as a campus janitor.

"Perhaps, I should just write a book about it. It would make for a really interesting plot twist" he weighed his options.

Finally, the black limo pulled over as his own apartment. Alighting down, Oscar cussed inwardly when he saw it was late at night.

He only had but a few minutes to complete the system's Quest..

Spend daily minimum of $50k.

.

.

.

Mr. Francis who was about to shut down his lap top and go to bed was jolted by a sudden ring of his phone.

"What is it?" he asked tiredly, without even checking who the caller was.

"Sir, it's me Blanco! I am the brokerage firm's market analyst"

"Nice. I wonder why you called me by this time. Whatever you want to report, can't it wait till tomorrow?"

"Uhm.." Blanco coughed awkwardly.

"I'm afraid it's really important that you hear it Sir. It's regarding one of our Client's Investment transaction"

When Mr. Francis heard this, the casualness in his attitude vanished into smoke.

He was a very principled man who didn't dare joke with work matters.

"Sir, one of our newest client Mr. Oscar bought Space Jets toys from the futures market at the price of ten million. The most baffling part was that he set the selling date to a one day duration period" Blanco broke the news.

"What?! is he crazy?! ah! I knew that kid was very impulsive. But this.. this is pure madness!" Mr. Francis scowled.

Investing straight away with a capital of ten million without even testing the waters of the market.

He didn't know whether it was pure ignorance or idiocy.

"Such a thing happened, yet why am I just hearing it?"

"I apologize Sir. The news has been quite popular in the futures market place. I thought you were already aware of it"

"Whatever. So, why are you telling me this now? the selling point duration must have expired by now. Did the Client lay a complaint that he didn't make profits and instead incurred losses?" Mr. Francis thought of the only viable reason.

"Hardly. It is because the Client managed to amass a ten percent profit!"

"Say what?!"

.

.

Perhaps it was due to being a Deviant, but Oscar didn't feel that hungry. Opening his laptop, he checked on the Futures Market, just for formalities since he knew there wasn't going to be any profits.

Not that he cared anyways.

"Huh?" he squinted his eyes when he saw his income stat on the dashboard.

Wasn't there supposed to be zero dollars on the capital tab.

And why was there addittional money figures on the profit tab.

$970,000 ???

At that moment, Oscar's phone rang. It was Goldie.

"Oscar, check the market now!" Goldie's excited shrill rang from the other end, causing Oscar to have a lopside grin.

"Shouldn't I be the happy one here? why is it the other way round"

"Tch. Just what kind of luck did you snag? even with all the odds stacked up against you, you still managed to make a reasonable amount of profit. Lucky bastard!"

"Heh. Maybe Lady luck has fallen head over heels for my manly charms" Oscar grinned sheepishly.

"But seriously, what happened? didn't you tell me that Space Jets toys don't sell that much?" Oscar asked seriously.

He wasn't that narcissistic to think that Lady Luck was in love with him.

Not like she existed anyways.

"It's a mystery. Shortly after you bought the futures, the buying rate of Space Jet increased tremendously on the grid scale. The demand for it became high, making the price and scarcity increase. It's simple Demand and Supply in Economics"

"Right now, Lolica is the one of the leading toy brands in the country and Space Jets has now become their trademark item. Many Investors are green with regret for missing such an opportunity. You really lucked out on this one!"

After some idle chats, Goldie hanged up saying she needed to go to bed.

That was when Oscar realized that it was just one hour ago from the System's daily quest expiry date.

Afraid that the money in his Investment account wallet wouldn't give him Centi Points since it didn't come from the system, he deposited another ten million. Adding them up together, he planned to invest with the whole 20.9 Million.

But this time, his target wasn't Lolica.

Scrolling through the market, he searched for suitable products to buy.

"Huh?" Oscar eventually made his choice.

Speedo Sneakers Arcane Lift 2..

Speedo Sneakers was a product of Speedo Inc. a small not well known Sneakers manufacturing company.

They just released a new series of the Sneakers, Arcane Lift 2.

However, there wasn't much sales even after two months of it's release, with only 50k units being sold.

As such, Speedos Sneakers dropped the price of their latest product from $15 to $8.

Many seasoned Investors thought this wasn't a smart move, coupled with Speedos Sneakers inc's subpar popularity, they didn't bother investing in them.

However, Oscar didn't mind making some losses.

And so, he bought 2,599,999 units of Speedo Sneaker Arcane Lift 2 Sneakers for 20.7 Million!

-[Host has recieved 20,799 centi points]

Just like the previous time, Oscar placed the selling date on a twenty four hour scale before shutting the computer.

"Time to level up!" he sucked in a mouthful as he opened the system's inventory.

He currently had 200+ mana fruits and 180 spirit candies.

Doing the maths, they would be enough for two more level ups. If he wanted to level up again, he would need to draw the lottery and win some more cultivation resources.

.

.

"Five burgers please!" Oscar hurriedly parked his scooter at a snack bar.

The fat shop attendant chuckled as he packaged the burgers. The current Oscar had messy miscombed hair and heavy eye bags.

The previous night was rough and he could only describe it as Tragically Traumatic!

Although he managed to advance his Soul and cultivation to the seventh level respectively, he didn't draw out a single item from the lottery even after using up the 20,799 centi points he had.

To make matters worse, he woke up on an empty stomach, causing him to disorientedly tidy himself up.

The Shop attendant finished packaging the snacks. Just as Oscar wanted to pay up, the Shop attendant waved his sleeves dismissively.

"Forget it.. youths of this day are becoming more and more reckless. Doing that 'stuff' on an empty stomach, tsk, tsk"

Oscar shook his head at the misunderstanding before zooming off.

Joshua Holts walked into his office with a fulfilled smile. Never in his seven years of being Lolica Manager had he ever felt pleased with his job as today.

Lolica was a toy brand created by his father and two of his childhood friends. They started off making wooden toys before upgrading into plastic.

However, ten years ago, his father had a disagreement with one of the founders who out of anger, broke out with Lolica, to start his own toy company, Adios toys.

Over the years, Adios toys always dominated the toy market in the company, thanks to improving on all of Lolica's past blueprints.

Whether it was action figures, jets, bikes, Adios toys were always a notch better than Lolica's.

This feud existed for years, till even the death of the pioneers. However, the Successors both refused to back down, continuing the feud.

Just a few months ago, Lolica released their latest line of toys: Space Jets. It was both unique and flashy, appealing strongly to the younger audiences.

Who would've expected that there was a mole within the upper management, who stole the blue prints of Space Jet, selling it off to Adios.

A month later, Adios released their even 'perfect version of Space Jets; Sailor Infinity, totally dominating the market.

Just when everyone thought that Adios would drive Lolica out of the market, sales began increasing. The demand for Space Jets increased triple fold and Lolica overthrew Adios as the number one toy brand in the company.

And all this stemmed from after a mysterious investor invested heavily on futures of Lolica!
