Dr. Victor Hades

Jensen Hades couldn't shake off his unease ever since encountering Devon at school. He vividly remembered being with his father when they allegedly shot Devon to death and personally overseeing the burial in Solhaven.

Yet, merely a week later, the seemingly deceased individual reemerged, alive and well. It defied all logic!

Driven by a surge of emotions and a need for answers, Jensen disregards his father's usual busy schedule and barges into his study room. The room itself spoke volumes about Dr. Victor Hades, revealing him to be an avid archaeologist. Cabinets and the floor were adorned with numerous artifacts, each carrying its own story, as passionately conveyed by his father.

The man was renowned for his relentless pursuit of dark artifacts and forbidden knowledge. His insatiable thirst for power and immortality led him to stumble upon an ancient, cryptic manuscript hidden within the depths of a forbidden library when he paid a visit to China some years back.

This arcane text, known as the "Chronicles of Lumos," contained fragmented references to the legendary Luminara pendant and its unparalleled ability to bestow immortality upon its wearer.

Ever since then, he's been so obsessed and driven by ambition to find the Luminara pendant.

Recently engrossed in deciphering cryptic inscriptions, Dr. Victor Hades found himself deeply absorbed in his work and desired no interruptions. However, as his son approached, the palpable anger emanating from him was hard to miss.

He erupted, "How dare you barge into my office like that, Jensen?! Can't you see that I'm busy? By now, you should know that my work doesn't require disturbance!"

Observing his father intently, holding a reading magnifier with an old, worn-out book open in front of him, Jensen sighed and responded, "This is urgent, Dad! You know I wouldn't disturb you if it wasn't urgent."

The man's anger lingered, and he retorted, "Why? Did you kill someone again?! Do you want me to take care of the dead body, or is there someone I have to kill for you this time, all thanks to your recklessness?"

To him, the ongoing quest was even more important than his son.

"It's about Devon Harris," Jensen disclosed to his father.

"Why should I know a Devon Harris? Who the fuck is that?!" Victor Hades queried.

"The guy you killed and buried in Solhaven," Jensen reminded him.

Victor Hades frowned, caught off guard. "Son, you have to be specific. I've killed a lot of men and buried them in Solhaven. Who the hell are you talking about, and why the hell are you bringing up the past?!"

"This guy is my classmate," Jensen clarified. "He was the one who caught me killing someone, the kid you shot just last week and buried."

Victor's eyes widened as he recollected. "Oh! That one? Why are we talking about him?"

"He's alive," Jensen dropped with a frustrated expression.

"What?" Victor Hades blurted out.

"Dad, I've been restless throughout the day since I saw him in class. That bastard is alive! I don't know how it happened, but I saw him with my two eyes!" Jensen exclaimed, his heart beating incredibly fast.

"But that's impossible. I killed him and buried him. There was no way he could have survived. No way!" Victor Hades asserted.

Jensen shook his head and replied, "Then how should I explain that I saw him? Even Lance and Dave clearly saw him."

Victor Hades chuckled, shaking his head in disbelief. "No one I killed comes back alive because they always stay dead. Are you sure the person you saw wasn't just a figment of your imagination? Are you sure this guy does not have a twin?"

"Since Lance and Dave saw him, it definitely wasn't a figment of my imagination. And I'm certain he doesn't have a twin. I know his family well enough to know that." Jensen conveyed.

Victor Hades sighed, irritated. "This better not be some prank or delusion, Jensen. I've got important work to do. If you're making up stories, you'll deal with the consequences."

Jensen leaned forward, his expression serious. "Dad, I wouldn't joke about something like this. It's unsettling, and I need your help to figure out what's going on. I don't want any trouble with this guy, especially if he's not like any other person we've encountered."

Victor's unease lingered as he inquired, "Have you spoken to him? Was there anything off about him when you saw him?" Shaking his head, he dismissed the notion, "Impossible! Someone declared dead can't be alive. I was certain I killed him and buried him six feet under."

Anxiety etched Jensen's voice as he questioned, "What should we do, Dad?"

Victor reached for his phone, dialing a familiar number. "Slide, I have a job for you."

"What's up, boss?" Slide inquired, hushing the thugs surrounding him.

"I need you guys to go to the burial site, check if the recently buried one is still there," Victor ordered before ending the call.

Slide pocketed the phone, addressing his gang of thugs, "Guys, we've got a mission. The boss wants us to inspect the burial site. Let's go!"

Olivia, eavesdropping on the conversation, pondered aloud, "Burial site? For what purpose?" As she observed them departing, she cautiously trailed behind…
