Coming out of his house, Cain now set off to the Resource Hall with Zyrk hiding in his shadows, and as he had been to resource hall before with Oron, he just took a look at the map to remember the location.

With Zyrk at his shoulder, he approached the hall.

Having studied the Elbaf language, he could now understand the words "RESOURCE HALL" written on the board above, and even this little progress brought a smile to his face.

Upon entering, he went directly to the counter. Unlike the last time, there was a middle-aged female wizard apprentice sitting there.

"What are you here for?" she asked in a low but audible voice.

"I'm here to report after getting promoted to wizard apprentice."

"Oh, then show me your mana as a proof

," she said while scanning him with her eyes.

"Yes."

With that, a colorless mana, disguised from his dark one, came out from Cain's palms. He let it flow freely for the female middle-aged wizard apprentice to see.

"Hmm, that's enough of the proof. You can put away your mana," she said, taking out a paper and pen from beneath the desk.

"Here, fill in your basic information in Elbaf language. You should know it, right?"

"Yes," Cain replied, taking the pen and paper from her.

He took a minute to fill out his basic details and then returned the paper to the female wizard apprentice.

Although he had been attending Elbaf language classes for only a short time, he was able to write and distinguish basic information.

After reviewing the form, she took out a token from below the desk.

While handing it to Cain, she said, "Congratulations, Cain. You are the first one among many others, including a few 5-star talents, to become a wizard apprentice. Being promoted first shows your hard work and perseverance. According to the rules of Shadowgrave Academy, you will be granted 20 mana stones as well as the opportunity to practice any three zero-level spells of your choice from the Spell Hall of the academy. In addition, you can choose one of the first-order Wizard Apprentices as your teacher."

Cain was a little excited after hearing all the conditions mentioned by the lady wizard apprentice, especially the fact that he could choose a first-order wizard as his mentor.

After living in the academy for a while, he knew that to become a student of a wizard apprentice, there were only two ways. 

Firstly, the wizard himself showed interest in taking someone as a student. The second way was for the student to be recommended by the academy to the wizard.

Now he could choose which wizard he would be a student of, which was nothing less than a dream come true for him.

Although he had fighting power of Official Wizard level in the form of Zyrk with him, a wizard could help him in more ways than that.

Becoming a student of a wizard opened the door for apprentices to gain knowledge beyond what they could get at their stage, while occasionally getting the chance to help wizards in their experiments.

And by chnace if you were favored by a wizard, you could exchange some resources and spells with the wizard at a price lower than the market one.

Although it seemed a little unsuitable for a wizard to act this way toward his favorite student, wizards operated on the principle of "Equivalent Exchange.".

Taking out a log, the female wizard apprentice handed it to Cain.

"Here, this log contains all the names of wizards who can currently take a student. The field in which they are proficient is mentioned just below their name with a description about them. You can look at it for a while and then tell me who you choose," she said.

"Thank you, sister."

"Fufufu, there's no need to call me sister as we are both wizard apprentices. You can just call me by my name, Bethy," said Bethy, a little happy to be called sister at her age.

"Okay then, Bethy."

"Hmm, now you can calmly choose who you want to take as your teacher."

Nodding at her, Cain started to read the descriptions of all the professors named in the list.

After five minutes of going through it, he narrowed down his choices to three names: Professor Scarlet, Professor Ackram, and Professor Fred. The common factor among these three was that they were well-versed in Flesh and Blood modification, a field Cain was interested in.

Thinking for a while, he finally decided on Professor Ackram as his final choice because, according to his description, he was a wizard known to be more easygoing among many wizards and wizard apprentices, while the other two were more uh, unstable compared to him.

Confirming his choice, he went to Bethy and told her while returning the log.

"It's a good choice to choose Wizard Ackram as your mentor if you're interested in Flesh and Blood modification, which I assume you are. Although he is known as easygoing, remember to be respectful to him as he is a dark wizard before being your teacher."

"Yes, I remember."

"Okay, you can go now. The academy will contact you regarding the matter of taking Professor Ackram as your teacher and will inform him about you. Lastly, if you need any help, you can contact me and I will help you if possible. I will be at house no. 9989," said Bethy.

Although it seemed excessive to explain every little detail to Cain as well as giving him her address in case he needed help, Bethy still provided it as it was just a small investment on her part.

Cain had shown his talent by becoming the first wizard apprentice in this batch, and that too in only one month, a speed comparable to a 5-star talent.

If by chance he became an official wizard, she might also earn some profit by having a contact with him.

Bidding goodbye to Bethy, Cain decided to go to the Spell Hall, which was just about a 10-minute walk away from there.
