I whispered as I awoke, feeling the sunlight on my eyes. I surmised that the screen across my room's window was probably not fully closed. I rolled over in my blankets without opening my eyes, attempting to reclaim my sleep by manoeuvring myself out of the stray rays.
"Morning, sleepyhead," Karlton said as he approached me.
That was enough to make me pull open my eyes and take a peek around.
In his meditative posture, Karlton sat across the room from me.
"Did you stay up all night?" I asked.
"Not all night," he stated emphatically. "I completed various inspections on the ship while you were sleeping, and I also needed to meditate, so I took my blankets through."
"Didn't you meditate alone in your room?" I was taken aback and enquired.
"Would you have preferred I went to my own room?" Karlton appeared to be as astonished as the rest of us.
