Chapter 31

Nina returned to the room and there were three separate outfit options available, a formal dress with sandals at the side, the other option was black tailored pants, a cream blouse and a coat, to wear, a closed toe pump. and the third was twill shorts, a flowered t-shirt and white sneakers.

Nina liked all three looks, but ended up accepting the twill shorts, it was the simplest and gave her the most mobility, as she thought that if something didn't go well, she should be wearing clothes that gave her mobility.

After getting dressed, she left the room, finding Mrs. Patel waiting for her.

— Patel, I deeply appreciate the help. I know she is a very strong woman and I admire you. — Nina hugged her and Patel, who used to appear cold, felt some of the ice in his heart melt.

—Miss Nina, thank you, but…

— Look, I'll still have a better opportunity to thank you for what you did for me, but I need to leave.

Nina gives Patel another hug, lets her go and turns her back to her, almost running down the hallway.

—Miss Nina! — Patel shouts and Nina responds:

— I don't have time now, Patel, I need to leave. — Nina was distressed, as she had promised to go see her daughter the night before and her heart was heavy, imagining that the girl was waiting for her and she didn't show up.

Remembering that the girl was sad and missing her mother was breaking her heart.

— Do you know which direction to go?

Patel said and Nina stopped in place and turned to her, and Patel took a deep breath and went to her, held her by the hand and led her in the right direction.

As soon as she realized that Nina was no longer in the hallway, Dominic got up and closed the door. He took out his cell phone and made a call.

- Sun? — the other person said on the other end of the line.

— Jared… Is the contract ready?

— Yes, but I made some changes…

Dominic raised one of her eyebrows and paused, but did not respond:

- OK! Bring it right now.

He turns off his cell phone and puts on a robe, then goes to the window, looking at the garden, thoughtfully. Dominic had made his decision, no matter whether or not Nina accepted her terms, he was going to offer her the contract. It didn't matter to him or what changes Jared would make, he had made the decision that Nina would become the new "Dominic's girl".

His thoughts were interrupted when he saw a girl running in the garden, and he recognized that it was Nina. Patel tried to hold her in the house, but Nina was like a hurricane when her mind was made up.

Dominic raised her eyebrow and made a strange expression, that was completely out of line with what she had planned. She believed that she would stay at the house until Jared arrived, as she had been drugged the night before, she shouldn't have had all that energy, running around desperate.

Nina had energy to spare, especially when it came to Hannah. She ran and ran until she reached the fences surrounding the property.

She stopped and looked at the fence, which was three times her size, and then looked towards the gates, where she saw some bodyguards, keeping watch.

Nina realized that she wouldn't be able to get out of the gate, so she took a step towards the fence.

Meanwhile, Dominic watched from her window, wide-eyed and saying out loud:

— Go back inside, Nina. Don't even think about doing that!

She takes another step and he feels his palm sweat.

—Read the fucking sign, Nina! It's electrified! — he shouts, in vain, as they were so far away from each other that it was impossible for her to hear.

However, even though she hadn't heard Dominic's scream, she automatically looked to the side and saw the sign that indicated how much electric current passed.

Then, he took a few steps back, making Dominic let out his breath, however, it was a second of relief, as Nina approached the bars again.

He thought that maybe it wasn't electrified and that sign could just be to scare people.

And before going up, she could test whether it was really electrified by placing her finger.

Nina stretched out her hand and slowly brought her finger closer to the railing, causing Dominic to almost have a heart attack. He knew she wouldn't take a simple shock.

— Aaaah! — he screams in anger — I don't believe in your ability to destroy yourself, Nina Moon!

He takes out his cell phone and dials some numbers and as soon as he is answered, he shouts:

— Turn off the power now! — she continues to bring her fingers closer and the person on the other end of the line asks Dominic why — I'm telling you, hang up now!

Nina puts her finger on the bars and stands still for a few moments, waiting for some result. When she realizes that it is not electrified, she begins to climb the bars.

Dominic is stunned, Nina was even more surprising than he imagined.

Nothing would stop her, she was determined to go see her daughter.

She crosses to the other side and as soon as she sets foot on the sidewalk, she continues running, abandoning Mr Bright's mansion.

Nina walks away along the length of the property, close to the road, which was surrounded by trees.

She continues, not really knowing if that was the right direction, she just thought about finding someone to help her find her daughter.

Patel told her that Dominic wouldn't let her leave before they had a definitive conversation, so she thought she wouldn't get help from him.

Nina continued to run, even though her lungs felt protesting, until she arrived at a park.

At that moment, she gradually slowed down, as she recognized that place.

She lived nearby, in the apartment where Samuel placed her, to hide the extramarital relationship he had with her.

Memories of that time began to flood his mind, one after another, without following a timeline.

But the memory that came and went was of her running, running away in fear from the people who attacked her, without herself realizing the whole truth that was being violently thrown in front of her. She remembered that in that same park, she hit a man, who didn't remember her face.

She only remembers his arms surrounding her as her senses faded and waking up in the hospital, where the nurse told her that the man who saved her was there for a long time, watching her and only left when the doctor told her that she was fine. He left, before the doctor told him, that same day, that she was pregnant with his daughter.

Those memories hit her hard, making her walk through the park, where people were jogging.

She looked into each of the men's faces that passed her, hoping to recognize her mysterious savior.

She hid within herself the desire to meet that person who was very important to her. She was so lost and so scared that day that she considered that person as her secret hero.

And I thought I should have the chance one day to thank him in person.

Patel stopped the car on the sidewalk and Dominic watched Nina, walking between the aisles, as if she were looking for someone.

— Do you think it's you, who she's looking for? — Patel asks Dominic, who was actually wondering the same thing.

Suddenly one of the runners collides with Nina and she would fall to the ground with the impact, but he holds her, helping her balance.

— Hey, are you okay? he asks, breathlessly.

She shakes her head positively and wonders if he was the same person he was years ago.

— Do you need help? She seems a little lost. — he asks with concern.

Nina lowers her gaze thoughtfully and then looks back at him and says:

— Yes, I'm lost. I need to go to my mother, but I have no money and I don't have my cell phone.

The runner looks at her for a few moments, pondering what to do. But Nina had sincerity in her eyes and she didn't seem to be lying.

— Okay... — he says and looks around, then continues — There's a taxi parked on the other side of the street, I'll ask to take you home.

- Thanks! If we ever meet again, I promise I will return the money.

And so, Dominic sees Nina leave in a taxi.

— Why didn't you stop her, Mr. Dominic? Patel asks.

— Because maybe this isn't the right time. She doesn't trust me.

— Trust is something to be earned.

— How can I gain trust by forcing her to return to my house?
