Chapter 22... Sleeping

Joanna was conscious of the way David held her hand as they walked down another passage to some rooms on opposite of each other. She started counting them but got lost as the rooms were never-ending.

David stopped at one of the rooms and gestured for her to be quiet as he pushed open the door gently. They noiselessly got into the room and Joanna couldn't hide her joy as she saw what was in them.

There were about ten small beds in the room and a much bigger one in which an elderly woman was sleeping. It was also decorated with stickers and kids' stuff of different colors. Each small bed was occupied by a kid who was sleeping peacefully. The kids were not more than seven years of age. She felt like she was back at the hospital. She missed the kids there, especially Taylor.

They left the room and got into another one with an identical setting as the first. Joanna had a lot of questions but has to wait for fear of waking the kids.
