Chapter 52: King Of Wands

Rodrigo hated the Holy City. The bells drove him nuts. He didn't pray when they rang, but everyone in sight glared at him if he didn't stop and look pious. What he wanted to do was rob them blind while they prayed. Rumours circulated that thieves did very poorly here, and Rodrigo saw no guards walking the streets. So, he kept his hands at his side and his eyes straight ahead.

He'd remembered his dislike on the boat as they slipped through the uncanny mist, but on the dock, the boat looked to be a better option than staying in Lusia with his sister. Her howl of anger sent shivers of fear and guilty pleasure through him. Not often did he come out ahead of her. She'd never forgive him, and never stop her attempt to return her people to their homeland.

Why couldn't they have once lived on the distant steppes and had only goats to push away from their land?
