The Beauty of Damnation

In which a general is in need of a secretary, yet for some reason, no one is satisfactory; no matter what man he chooses, they just refuse to perform adequately. "Oi, I heard there's a position open, can I join?" Then, a new arrival appears, and not only are they the perfect assistant he's been waiting for... but also a woman?! ———————————— "Are you a woman?" Unblinking silver stared up into the general's narrowed eyes, the beautiful face devoid of emotion. "No." "Then what of your face?" "You've never seen a pretty boy before? You ought to get out of the rock you've been living under—even if it is a nice one." "... What of your physique—" "Not my fault I was damned with a thinner bone structure. Besides, what commoner can eat properly in the heaven forsaken kingdom." The general's mouth and brow furrowed in annoyance; he knew the "boy" in front of him was a woman, yet here she was, shamelessly saying otherwise. "Take off your shirt. If you're really not a woman, then—" "Alright." And just like that, she began to pull off her shirt. "W-Wait a second, what are you—have some propriety, I—" ——————

The Contract

"It depends upon whom I am making one with."

Olivier blinked before replying with an incredulous expression.

"You're making one with me—hasn't that already been established? Goodness, no wonder the Duchy's on the decline..."

An immediate look of displeasure twisted his handsome face at the backhanded insult. They were insulting a possible employer, yet were asking about his mental capacity? If it weren't for their 'unusual constitution', then he would believe the boy to be suicidal, but no—it seemed he was simply mad.

"...You're not a human, but neither a vampire," he sighed, reigning in his annoyance that had bobbed up. "No human looks the way you do, and no vampire can survive a clean cut to the head, save Pureblood's. However... I'd know my own kind if I saw them. Lastly, your eyes..."

The boy's face curled into a sly smile, the said eyes curving beautifully beneath the blue moonlight that peeked through the fading clouds, creating an otherworldly beauty.

"My eyes? Yes, they are very pretty—"

"As I said before, you're an immortal, aren't you."

There was no question in his voice, only surety.

Of the beings who lived in this world and the other, all the creatures had a set lifespan.

Humans lived to around seventy years on average, vampires from a century to a 1000 years, with purebloods said to live to 2000. In comparison, the ancestors of the vampires were the fallen demons, said to live 3000 years, with high demons living even longer.

However, in all this wealth of time, there laid a discernable and inescapable end for all these creatures. In the race against time, they were inevitably outlasted.

Among these creatures though, were a few chosen ones who broke from the race, and entered a state of "limbo" of a sort; death could not take them, time could not age them, and life could not welcome them.

The silver eyes, were the sign of such an existence, and this boy carried them proudly, untouchable to change.

That was why, when his head had been ripped off, he came back to haunt Alexi now, that smile that promised damnation still resting upon his sly, crimson lips. The said smile seemed to stiffen a bit before relaxing once again, a sense of loftiness coming from him, but Alexi knew—he had hit a nerve.

Though he had asked it a second time to be sure, it really seemed the boy disliked the reminder.

'...It appears he wasn't born with them... but I've never heard of an artificial way of obtaining the eyes... also, is he suicidal or something? His audacity would make sense then...'

"Have you finished your analyzing, My Lord Duke?"

"...You excel at being annoying."

A gentle chuckle resonated from the boy again, his eyes genuinely amused in a way that made him seem alive for a moment. However, his corpse-like features were extremely disconcerting, and the liveliness disappeared in Alexi's eyes.

"I see My Lord has a sensitive temperament. I will remember that in the future."

"Why a contract?"

"Because of the nature of my existence, My Lord."

A beat of silence.

"...You're a demon?"

The boy simply smiled, his eyes curved angelically, as if to say the statement was lie, but the smirk discredited such an expression, for only a demon could have a grin so wicked.

A sigh heaved from the Pureblood vampire, his pale eyes tired as he mumbled, "What in the heavens have I gotten myself into..."

"A deal, My Lord."

"Why do you even want one? If you truly are what you claim to be—"

"What use is a mansion that I'll outlive—I don't even have need of it."

"The same could be said about being a servant to an even more temporary Lord."

"But that's my decision to make, isn't it, My Lord?"

Alexi's mouth twisted, the annoyance present as exasperation overtook his mind for a moment at the confusing demon boy. He scoured his expression, in hopes of gleaning at least some insight as to the cause of such a limiting decision, but he just kept smiling, a face of perfect neutrality adorning the unnecessarily lovely face.

The boy chuckled at the studious and mistrusting expression of his Lord before quietly approaching; his Lord was frozen in place, looking down on the approaching demon with wariness.

Olivier smiled even wider, leaning closer to his Lord on the roof.

"Now then," he whispered in a sweet, almost intimate voice as he was now close to him, "shall we get started, My Lord?"

And so, the Pureblood vampire made a contract with a demon, and the world could have never have been the same since.

I finally finished this one...
