In the Temple

Catallina entered the quiet temple with a tense heart. Her footsteps which could be heard clacking on the stone floor signaled the tension that haunted her steps. She knew that the meeting with the priest would reveal a great secret that could change the fate of this deadly plague-stricken town of Blanchill. The priest, a wise old man in long faded robes, greeted him with a gentle smile that never faded despite this dark situation.

The priest smiled and said, "Welcome, Princess Catallina. I have been awaiting your arrival."

Catallina gave her respectful greeting very politely, "Thank you, priest."

The priest nodded solemnly and looked Catallina sharply in the eye before saying, "However, before we get to that, I would like to ask, did you sleep well, my lady?"

Catallina sighed heavily, letting worry and tension creep into her voice, "You can see around these eyeballs of mine, Priest."

The temple priest smiled warmly then pondered for a moment, his deep eyes distant, "I am deeply saddened to see the city of Blanchill suffering like this. This plague is a great disaster for all of us. Our loved ones are being victimized, and I feel so helpless."

Catallina took in the Priest's words, feeling the same sense of sadness. She said with empathy, "I too feel that sadness, Priest. But we must find a way to solve this problem together."

The Priest nodded, then continued seriously, "That's right, my lady. But more importantly, bigger things are going on. I have seen something that has me very worried."

Catallina looked at the Priest curiously, "What is it, Priest? Please tell me."

The priest looked at her with eyes full of worry, "There are alarming signs, signs of the coming darkness. The deeper I go into our rituals in this temple, the more I see them."

Catallina felt her yearning for answers intensifies, "What do you mean, Priestess? Is it related to the plague that is sweeping our city?"

The priest pondered for a moment, considering his words carefully before finally saying, "I am not sure, my lady. But there is something strange in these signs. There is a deeper meaning, one beyond the understanding of mere mortals. It is a sign that we are on the verge of great changes that could shake this world."

Catallina, filled with curiosity and concern, asked further, "What is it?"

The Temple Priest, a man who was wise and diligent in his duties, sat in the quiet little room of his temple. His eyes were full of worry, and his breathing was deep as he contemplated what he had discovered. Before him, a simple wooden table was filled with scrolls containing the notes and evidence he had carefully collected. In the dim light of the candles glowing around the room, he considered the words he would say to Princess Catallina.

The priest sighed deeply, then finally spoke, his voice filled with deep concern, "There are indications that Lord Elias, the leader of Blanchill City, may be involved in this evil plan. I suspect that he has been influenced by the followers of a heresy."

Catallina, who had been sitting attentively, was startled by the Priest's statement. Her face paled, and her eyes looked at the Priest with a mixture of confusion and fear, "Lord Elias? But he is the leader of this city. How can that be?"

With a solemn expression, the Priest began to recount what he had discovered. He said, "I first suspected this when I saw Lord Elias bring a seemingly suspicious person into his palace. For some unknown reason, it's been almost three years since the Okren forest was closed. I once asked for a reason for that, because the Okren forest is very beneficial for the livestock of the citizens. The lord replied that it was because a very wild animal often appeared. And then, there were reports of secret meetings he attended and in the middle of the night Lord Elias was often seen alone entering the forest."

Catallina listened intently, trying to digest all the information she was receiving. Her face looked increasingly tense and full of worry. She then asked with concern, "What can we do, Priest?"

The priest spoke in a cautionary voice, "We must be careful, Princess. Do not allow yourself to get too close to Lord Elias. And if you find any further evidence of his involvement, speak with caution. We do not know the extent of this heresy's influence."

The priest continued, describing in more detail how these suspicious heresies were opposed to their beliefs. He explained, "When we worship the holy gods, they give us guidance and protection. They are the source of goodness and light in our lives."

However, the Temple Priest paused for a moment, looking frightened. His eyes radiated uncertainty as he continued, "It's different with those who follow those heresies. They worship what our faith calls 'The Bringer of Doom'."

Catallina was shocked, the princess visibly trembling with fear, then pondered deeply, trying to understand how serious the situation was. She knew that the actions she took would have grave consequences, especially if it turned out that Lord Elias was truly involved in the heresy.

With a trembling voice, the Temple Priest began to explain, "All this time, I have been conducting my investigation into this disease.

I'm not sure if anyone knows, but this temple has access to some ancient archives that record old events in the history of the city of Blanchill. "Catallina listened attentively, eager to know what the Temple Priest would reveal. The Temple Priest continued, "In one of those archives, I found records of a similar plague that struck our city thousands of years ago. However, that plague only happened once in history, and no one knows the exact cause."

Catallina felt confused, "What does this have to do with the current disease? "The Temple Priest replied fearfully, "In the records, it was mentioned that the disease was linked to the presence of a malevolent entity known as 'The Bringer of Doom.' This entity is believed to have the ability to curse the city and bring calamity if not stopped."

Catallina looked at the Temple Priest with a face full of confusion, "Are you saying that the 'Bringer of Doom' may be behind this outbreak?"

The Temple Priest nodded solemnly, "I'm afraid that is our strongest possibility. However, the 'Bringer of Doom' is an ancient myth, and we do not have enough evidence to support this claim."

Catallina felt anxious, "What should we do, Priestess? How can we stop this entity, if it is indeed responsible? "The Temple Priest replied in a hopeful tone, "We must figure out how to deal with it, Princess Catallina. We must return to the roots of our faith, seek guidance in the scriptures, and hope that our gods will provide guidance."

Catallina nodded, agreeing with the Priest's advice. She felt responsible for protecting the city and its people from any threats that might come from within. "I will do my best, Priestess. I will not let this city fall into darkness."

The priest smiled appreciatively at Catallina's determination. "That is a noble resolve, my lady. We must work together to uncover this truth and save our city from this looming danger."

They both knew that the journey they were about to embark on would be fraught with uncertainty and danger. But they also knew that they must not let the town of Blanchill fall into darkness and destruction. In the silence of the room, they promised to do everything they could to uncover the truth and protect the town and its people from an unseen threat.
