Chapter 4 Part 1

"Shit! These Brood Mother's are fucking everywhere!" Beau yells, cutting down a baby arachnid.

"God! I hate spiders." Haider says, slicing a few adults in his path.

"Just keep them away from Jasyn! They seem to be driven by something. Fighting to gain something." Kiana says, freed from her prison. Equipped with only her Katana.

"You think they're trying to capture Christopher?" Heather asks, dodging a pair of venomous fangs. Willow squashes the spider to a paste.

"They don't seem to be all that fixated on us. It's lucky we have Willow, Simon, and Hayle. They together are impenetrable." Beau comments.

"If they are after Christopher, they'll have a hell of a time trying to penetrate Hayle's defensive barrier." Haider says, driving his sabre through the brain of another oversized spider.

"Hayle's strength isn't unlimited though. If too many get through it could be a problem!" Heather says.

"I'm more interested in the fact that he's still fast asleep. How the fuck can he still be unconscious?" Kiana asks, slicing an especially large arachnid in half.

"Who knows really. But when we were kids, he slept through the sounds of explosions happening not even twenty feet from us, although he was put to sleep with a spell." Heather says, growing cute five tiny Flower Cannon spells. About knee height.

(Narrator) There seems to be no end to these things. If any one of them slips up, it could be their end.

(Nebulon) Ah! Cmon, be a little more hopeful about stuff like this. I believe they can do it.

(Narrator) This isn't some fairytale! If any one of them runs out of steam, the whole formation is going to become overwhelmed. And Haider seems to be running out of stamina.

"Fuck, why the hell did Dime restrict us to only our potions. This seems like a major emergency! I don't have any stamina potions left!" Haider says, his movements now sluggish and sloppy.

"Above you Haider! Watch out!" Heather yells.

One of the spiders leaps down above Haider, fangs at the ready to spread its toxins. Moments before disaster, Simon unravels himself and strikes the leaping arachnid through the mouth and into its brain, wrapping himself around its thinking machine and squeezing tight. Simultaneously severing it from its central nervous system and causing a severe haemorrhage to occur, killing it instantly.

"Shit, more got through!" Haider screeches.

Dozens of the smaller arachnids pass by the group leaping at the icy wind barrier that surrounds Christopher and Jasyn. Hayle, being the rear guard squashes some of the bugs, however more than half touch the barrier.

"Too. Many…Won't. Hold out. Much. Longer!" Hayle says.

"Heather! What do we do?" Jasyn asks.

"I don't know! I may have to take drastic measures here." Heather answers.

"We can't do uncertainties right now! just take the option now!" Kiana says, retreating as the spiders begin overwhelming her.

After looking around at the situation, seeing Haider on the ground, being protected by Simon. Watching as Beau received deep wounds from heavy striking spider legs. She gives the order to retreat behind her. Throwing down a seed and growing an extra large sunflower, she says, "Go back to Hel you overgrown sons a bitches!"

She fires the cannon at full power, making damn sure none would survive. The beam tears through the cave-like room. White hot energy eradicating the fact that they existed in the first place. When the beam finally stops, the sunflower turns to ash and Heather falls to her knees. "Fucking spiders."

"Heather, what the fuck. Overkill much." Kiana says, scoffing at the scene in front of her. "You could destroy an entire country with this kind of power."

Heather looks up, seeing falling debris through the gaping hole she left that goes through MOST OF THE FUCKING MOUNTAIN.

As the mountain starts to repair the damage, Heather chuckles. "Yeah, very much overkill. But that's what you get after expending 60,000 units in one go."

"Not to spoil the mood guys, but the spiders are still on their way." Haider says.

"What? How?" Heather gasps, her hands falling to the ground.

"There must have been some hidden in the crevices of the cave. Your beam of light only ever goes in a perfect line after all." Beau comments.

(Dime) Heather killed 65.50% of their remaining forces. There are still 6,821 spiders left. 5 of which are incredibly powerful.

The message appeared for everyone who was close enough to a ring owner, so everyone except the companions.

"That's still something impressive. So how many spiders were killed? Maths is too hard." Haider says.

"Better question is, how the fuck do you know how many spiders are left?" Kiana asks. "I thought your field was limited?"

(Dime) For a hundredth of a second I expanded my field of influence to 500 metres. I did it before the fight as well. It expends a large amount of mana however, so I borrowed some from mana fines. And Heather killed an average of 12,700 spiders with that spell. Excluding a few hundred for what was killed before the spell. It doesn't account for the spiders outside that range.

(Dime) Closest spider is 150 metres.

"Is anyone able to do anything?" Heather asks.

She looks around to see Kiana holding her elbow, a hollow look in her eyes as she stares at the horde coming closer. Haider is still on the ground, trying to catch his breath. Beau is on the ground, ruffling through a bag, desperately trying to find something. Simon is trying to get her on her feet, nuzzling his nose into her abdomen. Jasyn is embracing Christopher in a firm hug, holding him close to his chest. Hayle is collapsed down to a knee, his defence surrounding Jasyn and Christopher faulting. Willow is furrowing their leaves, the only one not almost completely drained.

"Hold it for as long as you can Hayle!" Haider says, seeing the horde charge through the cave.

(Dime) You guys need to retreat. Without Christopher's express permission, I cannot let you enter the dimension, especially since Kiana is here. She poses a security risk.

"Where are we supposed to go? We can't outrun these things!" Heather yells.

A ball of liquid flies past all their heads, slamming directly into the ice barrier, it evaporates as the wall of snow and storm collapses with Hayle falling to the ground.

"What happened?" Beau asks.

"The barrier is part of his core. He can no longer support it anymore. We need to try and run!" Haider says.

"I don't see any way that we could! We're all drained and weakened!" Kiana shouts.

"Jasyn, you should get him to safety. I don't know why, but they don't seem to want to kill us, maybe they need us alive to feed. But if you can escape with him, he can save us all. We'll buy you some time." Heather says.

(Dime) They're here!

Dime's words appear in bold red letters. Five spiders lead the charge. Much larger than all the others, with the biggest barely able to fit through the massive cave system.

(Dime) It's the Brood Mother Queen, and her 4 Breeder Kings.

"Run! JASYN! Take Christopher and RUN!" Heather cries out.

Jasyn gets to his feet but webs fire at him, trapping both him and Christopher in steel-like silk webs.

"NO!" Haider screams.

The two get dragged off along the ground as the spiders make a hasty retreat. Heather reaches out hopelessly, her hands falling to the ground. "Why him? Of all the people here, they take Christopher." Kiana says.

"We need to go after him." Beau says.

"Are you fucking insane? Look at us! Every single one of us is barely able to stand!" Kiana says.

"Dime. Please ask the King for aid. Tell him I request 'The Wrath of Trevena'." Beau says.

(Dime) The request was denied. However he sent through supplies.
