"You're a cat, not a fucking elephant; get over it already!" I said, sighing as Little Soot rapidly slapped at the top of my head with his paws from his spot at the top of the couch's backrest.
It's been six days since I hacked into the task force x database. I've already downloaded everything there. Now I finally had everything I needed to convict Waller and then some.
The database did not only have enough evidence to destroy Waller and a shit ton of people involved in the Suicide squad, but it had information on everyone and everything that mattered.
Information about superheroes, supervillains, crime families, corrupt politicians, events that the government covered up, extraterrestrial threats, the database had it all, and everything in between.
It was a priceless treasure trove of information that would help me in my future plans, and I was fully intent on squeezing it dry and drawing every bit of advantage for myself.
You could say everything was going my way, except for one minor detail, the little feline demon's ongoing tantrum-fueled rampage for the past couple of days.
I'd locked him in a room while I was working on getting the evidence for a couple of hours, and I was now suffering the consequences of my actions as the little demon would torment me with his paws whenever we were in the same room.
All jokes aside; though Little soot was doing everything in his power to be a nuisance, he was a minor one as he would get tired after slapping at my head for a couple of minutes, then strut down on my lab and take a nap like he owned the place.
I honestly didn't know whether to cry or laugh whenever that happened, but it was heartwarming, so I just let the little guy do as he pleased. Hopefully, he'll call it quits soon and stop slapping me before I need some sleep.
In any case, getting slapped by Little Soot wasn't the only thing I did for the past couple of days, as I've met with my teacher and Benjamin twice to keep them updated and managed to finish cleaning the theatre with Patrick and the others.
I met Cassandra one more time while helping, and she was her usual self, energetic and ready to help any way she could, though the same doubts still seemed to plague her mind.
However, interacting with Little Soot and everyone in the theatre seemed to distract her well enough, so I decided to take the little feline with me whenever I went, but she didn't show up again.
Had I not known Cassandra was a badass martial artist who could kick 99% of the planet's population's asses, I might have been worried, but she's a big girl, perfectly capable of taking care of herself.
With the theatre finally clean and ready to receive Patrick and the others, I had a surplus of free time, so I finally finished upgrading my Sentry Spiders.
I finally figured out a solution to their clumsy limbs by creating a steel alloy, so they could now move like the deadly murder machines they were without being an embarrassment.
Still, it was funny seeing them wobble around the place, so I programmed them to still move like that before going into battle mode merely for the hell of it. It would be hilarious seeing people's reaction to a bunch of clumsy robots suddenly going ultra instinct mode on their asses.
Metallurgy Intuition came in clutch, and I finished working on my Spider Sentries rather quickly, so I started developing a drone to automate some of the boring stuff I'd need to do around the hideout.
It was still a work in progress, and I'd need a couple of days to a week to get a functioning prototype model and even more to develop it to perfection, but it would be worth it as it would save me a lot of time on any future project.
Ultimately, I'd like to end up with a fully automated, AI-managed hideout slash workshop, where I'd only need to create a design and leave the rest to the AI and drones.
It won't be anytime soon since AI was beyond my reach at that point in time, but it will come eventually, and I'll finally be able to achieve my teenage dream of being a couch potato.
"You're finally getting tired, huh...?" I said, chuckling as I watched Little Soot yawn and meow simultaneously before jumping from the backrest into my lap, wrapping around himself to get some sleep.
I smiled, reaching to scratch behind the small feline's ears. However, my smile immediately vanished as alarms started ringing in the hideout, alerting Little Soot, who immediately jumped off and started looking around in panic.
I looked at Little Soot's startled appearance, and my expression immediately darkened. Closing my eyes, I activated my personal computer power to see whose bones I would have to fucking break for scaring my cat.

Gotham's underground tunnel network
Nemesis frowned as he stood before the gate of a hidden underground bunker, raising his fist, to which the government agents under his command halted, gripping their weapons tightly.
Waller had never given him command over any mission before as she did not trust former vigilantes, heroes, and villains, opting to entrust such responsibilities to government agents instead.
However, despite being a former vigilante, Nemesis was no stranger to leadership, thanks to his many years of service. Waller had no choice but him since Flag and Faraday were in prison, waiting for trial.
He was never interested in a leadership role as he only joined the Suicide Squad to continue serving, but he couldn't refuse the call of duty when Waller entrusted him with the mission.
And so, there he was, standing before the hideout of the vigilante, turned public persona, who was responsible for crippling their operation and supposedly had the means to destroy Waller.
"We're here... Lady Liberty...?" Nemesis blankly said, turning back to his team and nodding at a woman dressed like the statue of liberty with curly black hair carrying a white-flamed torch.
The woman, Lady Liberty, nodded and stepped forward, raising her torch high. The white flames burned brighter, seemingly coming to life and indicating the readiness of their mistress.
"Open the gate," Nemesis said while touching his earpiece, and the bunker's gate immediately started groaning as it slowly opened, revealing the dark interior.
Lady Liberty took another step forward, humming loudly as the flames converged from her torch, forming a giant wave of white, blazing fire that flooded into the bunker, engulfing it in a searing embrace.
She deactivated her torch a couple of seconds later and staggered backward, holding her forehead with a pained expression while still holding on to her torch.
Nemesis frowned as he turned his gaze from Lady Liberty into the now brightly lit bunker, glowing in a red hue because of the heat and making it difficult for anyone to see inside.
He reached into his belt and retrieved a small blue grenade, throwing it into the bunker's interior. It hissed as it released a chilling gas that cooled down the bunker after a couple of seconds.
Raising his pistol and flashlight, Nemesis began approaching the bunker while gesturing for the team to follow behind him. Once inside, he looked around and found nothing.
"Did you burn everything to ashes? Waller wanted Wrath's tech..." Nemesis said as he turned and gave Lady Liberty a sharp glare that would cause most people to recoil.
"Do you take me for Firestorm? In the first place, there is no ash. The place was empty from the beginning," Lady Liberty replied, unphased by the man's grim expression.
Nemesis did not seem pleased by her answer and seemed ready to argue. However, he had to stop himself as another voice interjected, causing him to swallow his words.
"Of course, it's fucking empty. How dumb do you think I am?" the voice echoed as a figure materialized amid the group, causing everyone to tighten their grips over their weapons.
"It's a trap open fire!" Nemesis exclaimed, immediately realizing the danger they were in as he was the first to follow through and pull the trigger. However, his and everyone's bullets merely bounced off the newcomer's body like they were nothing.
Lady Liberty gritted her teeth and activated her torch, despite feeling fatigued after using it on such a grand scale, but the flames didn't even form before the weapon disappeared from her hand.
"You... you wanted to burn me alive with this thing, didn't you...?" The newcomer, Gray said as he released the torch from his steel wire and held it, sounding eerily calm.
"You didn't stop to think who or what was here before burning up the place..." he blankly added, his tone growing colder as he spoke, unphased by the bullets bouncing off his body.
"I fucking hate arsonists."
