The Medical

Alex alighted from the train, this time his mother did not follow him as he told his mother who was in tears that he is a big boy now there was no need for her to follow him anymore. He was staying in Utrecht so it was not a big deal to go by himself because it was not far.

Breathing in the fresh morning air, he sighed "Ahh, just gonna do the final step of application which is the medicals, Thank God I've been keeping a diet"

Soon enough Alex found himself standing outside the doors of the Academy's medical facility. The address was in the email sent to him, the anticipation was palpable as he prepared to undergo the rigorous examination that would determine his physical readiness for the upcoming season.

Taking a deep breath, Alex stepped inside, greeted by the sterile yet comforting atmosphere of the facility. The scent of disinfectant lingered in the air, mingling with the faint sound of medical equipment humming in the background. He couldn't help but feel a mix of nerves and excitement as he checked in at the reception desk.

He also was the other boys there, Steven Gerben soon saw him and called out "Alex! Alex! My man, how are you doing". Alex just shook his head and replied "I'm cool Steven, are you ready for the medicals?".

"Of course I'm ready, let's take a seat and wait for our names"

Soon, a friendly nurse called his name, guiding him into a room where the medical assessment would take place. She explained the process, assuring him that it was a standard procedure for all aspiring players. Alex listened attentively, ready to prove his fitness and dedication to the sport he loved.

An hour later Alex was in a well-equipped room, similar to a gym. He frowned at the medical specialist. The doctor had taken him through hell as an excuse for a warm-up. Every five minutes, the resistance of the bike increased, putting more strain on his limbs. He was already in agony even before the real medical commenced.

"I wonder how Steven is doing." He mused

The examination had began with a series of measurements and tests to assess Alex's overall health and physical condition. The nurse checked his blood pressure, heart rate, and conducted a thorough examination of his joints and muscles. Alex remained focused and cooperative, understanding the importance of this evaluation.

Next, it was time for the fitness tests where Alex was at.

After the treadmill test, Alex moved on to the strength and flexibility assessments. He performed various exercises, demonstrating his agility, balance, and muscular strength. The medical staff closely observed his movements, evaluating his range of motion and overall physical capabilities.

As the examination drew to a close, Alex felt a mix of relief and satisfaction. He had given his all, leaving no doubt about his commitment to the game. The medical staff commended his performance and assured him that the results would be carefully reviewed by the Academy's medical team.

Leaving the medical facility, Alex met up with Steven and since the results would be out by tomorrow they decided to go take lunch and went to a hotel to spend the night. His mother had given him some money together with the money he had saved, Alex and Steven lodged their separate rooms.

"Let's go and get dinner Alex" Steven said as he marched into Alex's room like it was his own. Alex just sighed got up said nothing and followed him. After eating (By the way bill was on Steven) and discussing about the next day Alex got up and went to his room, he just hoped he and Steven would be admitted into the academy the next day. "Steven would be a good friend" he thought as he entered his room.

He had completed the tryouts and now the medical assessment, inching closer to his dream of playing professional soccer. With each step he took, his determination grew stronger, knowing that he had given his all to pursue his passion.

Now, it was a waiting game. Alex eagerly waited for the next day to come.
