Chapter 24: Surprise Attack on Anubis

Anubis is on the top floor of an Egyptian pyramid somewhere on the desert floor in the God Mode stage of RPG Fantasia.

He sat at his office, filled with ancient Egyptian symbols, with the Eye of Horus carved on the wall right in front of him.

He removed his dog mask, while Cerberus laid down on the floor, all three heads fast asleep, with the dog's size reduced to that of a normal adult-sized Great Dane with 3 heads.

He sat there, contemplating in silence, thinking about the plan he set into motion.

He went full blast on driving a wedge between Morrigan and Hecate.

He is already on the initial stages of his plan as he bribed insiders close to both Morrigan and Hecate to give him top secret and updated information on their plans and whereabouts.

This is my chance to hit two birds with one stone.

These two old hags have been acting high and mighty for so long, and it's time that I finally stepped in.

They must have forgotten that it was me who introduced the two to each other.

Now it's time to sour their friendship, and take advantage of the ensuing chaos.

He got shaken off from his thoughts when he sensed fighting in the sandy desert right outside the Pyramid.

"Sir! The Vampire Lilith is attacking us. We need your assistance."

"Have you tried using Celestial Runes?"

"We've tried every Celestial magic known to us, alongside with light magic. It won't work on Lilith and her summoned vampire minions."

"Then think. There has got to be a loophole we can use to our advantage. Use silver weapons, daggers, or anything that is lethal to vampires. I'll deal with the Vampire Lilith. "

Anubis said to the soldier who reported to him.

"Yes, sir."

The soldier immediately left and returned to the fighting outside the Pyramid.

"Cerberus, wake up." Anubis commanded in a deep voice.

All three heads woke up at once, shifted to sitting position, and looked up excitedly at Anubis, with the tails wagging, and barking excitedly.

"Buy me some time and go hold off Lilith, ok? Just give her a hard time but don't kill her. You can do what you want with that vampire. Be a good dog."

Anubis bent down patted all three heads, then got up again.

Cerberus got up, and took off into the direction of the desert to fight Lilith.

Anubis changed into his battle armor, and put on his dog mask, and

He then disappeared from the top floor of the Pyramid, and reappeared later at the desert grounds, causing the vampires to tremble and have a hard time focusing on their attacks.

He saw vampires block his way, when he was about to relieve Cerberus.

He grinned a clever grin beneath his mask, knowing that the vampires are technically undead, and he can control the souls of the undead like the palm of his hand.

He separated the souls of the vampires, and whispered some commands into the souls, before returning the souls into the bodies of the vampires slumped lifeless on the ground.

The vampires immediately turned on their comrades, causing confusion in the battlefield.

The failing morale of the ancient Egyptian soldiers got boosted when they saw that their leader joined the fray.

They started fighting even more fiercely.

It didn't take long before Anubis arrived at the spot where Cerberus held off the Vampire Lilith.

Cerberus growled, and pounced at Lilith, but couldn't get near Lilith because Lilith held an item that weakened Cerberus attacks, namely the Lyre of Orpheus.

"Sorry, Anubis. It's time this dog got returned to the original owner, Hades. Don't worry, I'll just put this dog into a deep sleep. You still haven't changed the last time we met, Anubis. Care for another beating again?"

Lilith smirked at Anubis, baring her razor sharp fangs at him.

She then proceeded to play Orpheus' Lyre, producing such a beautiful melody that the vampires soul-controlled by Anubis fell into a brief sleep, only to wake up and snap back into their senses.

Her playing had such a strong effect on Cerberus that the giant three-headed dog fell into deep sleep.

Before Anubis could stop Lilith, Lilith had already chanted a returning spell for Cerberus.

"Oh Hades, the god of the underworld, guide Cerberus so he can return safely back to you."

After Lilith finished chanting, a rift opened right on the spot where Cerberus slept soundly.

The giant 3 headed dog reverted back into a normal-adult sized Great Dane with three heads.

Lilith sensed an invisible soldier carrying a dog cage come out of the portal, then Cerberus inside the dog cage, then lifted the dog cage effortlessly and climbed back to the rift.

The invisible soldier sent shivers down the spine of everyone present, casting a dark shroud around him, making all of then stop fighting. Almost everyone but Anubis and Lilith got affected by the shroud of fear and darkness that lingered around the invisible soldier.

When the invisible soldier was out of earshot, everyone resumed fighting.

"How can you defeat me now that I returned Cerberus back to Hades, Anubis?"

Lilith taunted Anubis.

"Oh, really? Let's see how you'd defend yourself from my attacks then."

Anubis smiled from beneath the dog mask.

Anubis shot one energy blast after another from his eyes, aiming straight for Anubis, who nimbly dodged his attacks using her superspeed.

" I've seen through that same old trick of yours already, Anubis. Is that all you got?"

Lilith taunted Anubis, then countered with an attack of her own.

"Beloved bats, I summon you. Go forth and attack Anubis."

After Lilith finished her chant, the night sky began to get darker as ferocious bats came into existence out of nowhere, and swooped at Anubis, in an attempt to aim for the kill.

Anubis conjured up a wall of sand mixed with brick and bones.

" Your bats may seem ferocious and all, but in the end, they are just flying beasts, and flying beasts are weak to attacks with the ground and earth element. Try again, Lilith."

Anubis said with satisfaction as he heard the dying screeches of bats who got their own bones broken trying to get past the wall of sand.

Anubis sent a pack of earthen hyenas hurtling at Lilith, who was forced to go on the defensive by conjuring up a water wall.

The hyenas disintegrated upon repeated contact with the water wall and the water wall also vanished.

"I've grown tired of all this playing around, Anubis. Let's end this once and for all."

Lilith started casting a powerful magic, namely corrupted eldritch magic. She could see Anubis summon his Scale of Justice. She could sense good and evil energies

colliding from the Scale of Justice.

Lilith's eyes flashed blood red, with corrupted eldritch magic flowing into the pentagram.

The symbol of a serpent coiled around a dark moon in the center of one giant pentagram illuminated briefly upon the night sky, before dividing into two small pentagrams right at Lilith's palms.

"Eldritch power of the sorrows,

Filled with grudge and malice against the world,

Enriched with the toxin and the slyness of the serpent,

Corrupted by dark magic from the depths of hell,

I command thee to assist me in striking viciously at Anubis."

Anubis, at the same time, just finished chanting.

" Scale of Justice,

Awake from your slumber,

For evil undead has risen upon this land.

Collide both your good and evil energies,

Into extremely powerful magic,

And help me defeat Lilith for once. "

The Eye of Horus flashed briefly upon the night sky, then embedded itself in both of Anubis' fingertips.

Bright, celestial power of judgment oozed all over Anubis' body.

After they both finished chanting, the two of them finished chanting, then they shot powerful magic at each other, dodging, and counter-attacking until Anubis got the upper hand, and managed to shoot magic straight at Lilith's spine, paralyzing her and causing her to tumble down at the dandy desert, face first.

Anubis is about to fire powerful rays from his eyes straight at the unconscious Lilith when he felt someone tackle him to the ground, and pummel him with hard, clawed fists, causing Anubis to faint right on the spot.

The hybrid werewolf Fenrir arrived in werewolf form to save the day for Lilith.

The hybrid werewolf Fenrir picked up the unconscious body of Lilith, and barked an order to his private army.

"We have safely secured Lilith and the rest of the vampires. Everyone, retreat before Anubis wakes up."
