I pulled one of the vials out of the box. Popped the top off, and slipped my fang inside. Pressing on the venom pouch to fill the vial. It only took about ten seconds to fill the vial completely. Snapping the cap closed gently before licking the outside off right quick.
"What are you doing?" Savannah gave me a funny look.
"Fastest way to make sure none of the venom is on the outside of the vial," I set the now full vial on the desk next to me, "I don't want you guys turning into stone by accident."
"You don't have to lick it to figure that out," Savannah looked kind of disgusted.
"I'm sorry," I replied sarcastically, "I'll just use a towel to oh. Wait. Towels will turn to stone, and break the vial."
"Right," Savannah smiled, "I forgot."
"Get going," I stood up slowly, and backed into my room slowly, "I'm going to get in a nap in."
"Fine," Savannah walked over to the door.
I started closing the door slowly.
"I'll see you tomorrow," Savannah called as she left the dorm room.
I glanced at Ethan through the crack in the door.
"Okay with going up to the roof again?" I watched his reaction carefully.
"Yeah," Ethan smiled now that Savannah was gone.
I nodded as I closed the door the rest of the way. Settling in to take a nap just as I said I was. My tail twitched as I curled up on the floor. I didn't know if I was going to go to my inner world again. It was all chance really whether I ended up there or not.
I kind of hoped I wouldn't. Not during a nap anyways. Not enough time sleeping to actually get anything done. I half chuckled as I let my eyes close. Getting stuff done while sleeping.
Hilarious. System wake me after dark.
System will wake user after dark.
Good. I fell into a deep sleep. No inner world this time. I startled when the system woke me a few hours later. I switched forms, and pulled my clothes on.
I walked into the common room, and knocked on Ethan's door before grabbing my shoes to put them on. Ethan came out about the time I finished tying my shoes. We walked up to the roof silently. Ethan watched the door as I took my clothes off, and shifted. I stretched my wings slowly.
Enjoying the feeling of the wind as it flowed over me. I focused on that feeling of the wind flowing over me.
"Have you noticed the gaps between your spines?" Ethan leaned against the closed door of the roof facing me.
"Gaps?" I cocked my head.
Turning my head to look down my spine. Ethan was right. The spines that went down my back had gaps. One gap in front of my wings, and another behind them. Before I evolved my spines didn't have a spot big enough to fit even a pinky finger in, but now there were two spots that were easily big enough for a child to sit in.
System what are these gaps?
Gaps in spines are for rider rank bonded.
Rider rank bonded. Great so I really am supposed to carry those two around. Wait, what rank is rider rank bonded? So far I'd only gotten trust bonds. System what is a rider rank bond?
System damaged. Insufficient data remaining.
System, you're the one that told me about rider rank bonded.
System apologizes. System does not mean to withhold information from user.
I almost felt guilty for getting irritable with the system. It really didn't know much. I pulled my wings in slowly as a new thought crossed my mind. System can you reverse damage?
System is unable to reverse damage. Repairs to gaps in system knowledge is beyond the systems ability.
But you can learn right, system?
System is able to learn, and implement skills, and abilities learned onto the user.
Good. I can use this.
"We should go back inside," I pulled my wings in reluctantly as I motioned with my right hand for Ethan to turn around.
Ethan turned around as I had asked. I switched, and got dressed quickly. Opting to leave my shoes untied. We walked back to the dorm quietly. I went to my room, and closed the door behind me.
Throwing my clothes into the shoot so they could be washed, and switching forms so I could sleep comfortably. When I opened my eyes I was in my inner world again. This was exactly what I wanted. I stretched out in my inner world. My wings stretching fully as I flared my magic out.
I started working on a spell. Creating a cyclone of air, and water. I almost had it, but then it collapsed. Most of the spells I'd made so far were givens. Freeze everything nearby, blow things away, and cover myself in lightning were all simple spells that threw out my elements brazenly.
I was trying to combine my elements into something more complex. It wasn't as easy as I thought it was going to be. I kept trying to create a cyclone, and it was getting closer to what I wanted, but it would collapse before I could finish it. I was getting frustrated really quickly with how the spell casually collapsed each time I tried to get it to work. Maybe my attachment to my elemental affinities wasn't strong enough yet.
I focused on my wind affinity. It was my weakest element after all. Focusing on the wind, and only the wind. Letting the rest of my inner world fall away as I closed my eyes slowly. My whole body stilled.
I stood slowly as the feeling of the wind slowly overcame all my senses. Then I woke up in my room. Dammit. I thumped my tail into the walls as I stood up. My wings twitched as I pulled my clothes out of the shoot, and switched forms.
