My muscles protested as I opened my wings slowly. Hopefully Wyatt wouldn't regain control while I was in the air. That would be quite a jarring experience for him. I didn't remember much of anything from my time in the soul scape. It would be safe to assume he wouldn't remember how he got in the air.
It was nearing night by the time we reached the guild settlement. I glided down silently. The light landing I managed near the fountain was so quiet that only those that had witnessed my landing would have know I'd arrived.
"Could you call Calen here for me?" I used Wyatt's voice to be safe, "I would like to discuss something with him."
I didn't focus on anyone in particular. I didn't think I would need to. He was a well respected man in this settlement. My power wouldn't allow him to ignore my request to speak. I walked into the warehouse that Wyatt had been calling home for some time, and helped his three bonded off my back with air magic. Setting them down gently before turning my focus to the rest of the warehouse.
"This place is a wreck," I settled near the map Wyatt had been carving into the floor, "Perhaps I should fix that. Wyatt's affinity with earth is a bit low for manipulating metals. I'll have to waste a bit of mana to do what I wish."
"What are you planning on doing?" Ethan winced as he started removing the chest plate of his armor.
His clothes were destroyed as well, but the armor he was wearing hid most of his destroyed clothes. I coated the whole place in my mana. Repairing the metal of the warehouse was a simple task with my level of skill, but the mana it cost me was a bit ridiculous. The hole in the roof bent back, and the metal melded back together at my command. The door bent back to the shape it was in before, and settled back into the repaired tracks.
I even took time to repair, and expand the map Wyatt was carving into the floor. Correcting the inaccuracies with ease. I was pleased to find that there weren't many. The small warehouse door opening just as I was applying finishing touches.
"Did you know that there were reporters recording when you landed Nix?" Calen shouted as he came in, "They caught you talking on camera. It took me nearly an hour to convince them not to come with me to talk to you."
"That would have been unfortunate," I switched to human form.
Catching everyone there off guard. Calen's face was particularly confused since the dragon he knew to be a male suddenly took the form of a human woman.
"I understand your confusion human," I smiled gently, "I've temporarily taken control of Wyatt's body while he's unconscious. There are some things I wanted to discuss with you that should not leave this warehouse."
"You're in control of Wyatt's body?" he still sounded, and looked confused, "Who the fuck are you?"
"Technically speaking I'm a fragment of a long dead dragon," I crossed my arms with a smile, "A direct ancestor of sorts. This priestess the lizardmen insisted that Wyatt meet tried to kill him because he refused to renounce humans, and sever his bonds. That near death experience allowed me to come to the surface, and protect him." I blinked slowly, "Are you following what I've said so far?"
Calen's confusion had changed to consideration.
"Now to the more pressing information," I pulled a stone chair from the earth for Calen to sit in as well as one for myself, "Please sit."
Calen eyed me suspiciously as I sat down, but sat down shortly after I did anyway.
"I would like to explain my relation to Wyatt," I dropped my smile, "The three of you won't like what I have to say, so I ask you to refrain from interrupting." I glanced at them briefly, "Three years ago Wyatt was human like yourself," I gestured to Calen, before holding two fingers up to my mouth to silence any questions he might have, "He became a dragon because of a spell I created after the near extinction of the dragon race. He found the spell core, and was turned into a dragon without any choice on his part."
"You expect me to believe this," Calen interrupted.
"I can show you his memories," I felt my mana stirring due to my irritation at his disbelief, "I'm not all that fond of lies, or being called a liar." My pupils constricted to a line as my eyes became more draconic, "You can trust me when I say that Wyatt never planned on disclosing any of this information to you. I on other hand believe that you will come to understand him better if you know the truth." I allowed my bloodlust to wash over him, "However this information is for your ears alone. It would be best if you didn't spread it."
Calen swallowed nervously, and nodded as my bloodlust was reined back in.
"Back to how I'm related to Wyatt," I smiled gently again, "I used my core as material for the spell that transformed Wyatt into a dragon. Killing myself in the process. His core as a dragon was created from my own."
"You killed yourself to turn a kid into a dragon?" The color had come back to Calen's face, but he still spoke cautiously.
"No," I answered, "I killed myself so my race wouldn't go extinct. That spell would have transformed any compatible creature into a dragon. Wyatt was just first compatible creature to come into contact with the spell."
"He became a dragon completely by chance?" Calen was properly paying attention to the conversation again.
"He was forced to become a dragon," I clarified, "He didn't have any choice. If that was where my transgressions ended then I wouldn't feel such guilt at what I did to the boy."
I tapped my fingers on the stone for a few seconds as I debated on what I would say next.
"What did you do?" Ethan interrupted.
