The Sword and The Spear

After I led Hailey to the resting area where all the participants rest, The Auck Brothers approached me.

"Hey, Luna? Was it?" Gun Said.

"Yes, My name is Luna." I replied.

"We just wanted to say that you did good back there, I mean.. You were really good." Gun Said.

"Hehe, Thanks. But you two were really difficult to handle, your team work was really commendable." As I replied.

"Haha, After so many battles we've faced, This was our first loss to be honest." Gon Said as he scratched his head.

"Yeah, It was our first time experiencing defeat. Calling us the unbeatable duo makes me think that we're clowns now. Haha!" Gun said.

"Hehe, We just got lucky somehow." I replied in a friendly tone.

"But your sword, was it really able to release lightning? Does it need mana? I'm sure you aren't an awakened one." As Gun asked.

"Yeah I'm not an awakened one, And Excalibur could produce Electric attribute. It doesn't need mana, Just total concentration." I replied.

"What do you mean Concentration?" As the Auck brothers asked at the same time.

"This magical sword is bounded to me, If the wielder gets recognized by the sword, It'll share its abilities with the owner." As I explained while summoning Excalibur.

"Oh so that's why, Your swordsmanship was pretty lacking to be honest. But I commend your perception, You have very keen eyes for predicting my moves." As Gon spoke in a complimentary tone.

That's when Me and the Auck Brothers got to know each other and got acquainted.

After resting at the Resting area for several minutes, The next match was announced.

So I went out to watch the next fight.

It was fun watching the other teams fought, I gained alot of knowledge by watching them fight.

I went back to the place where Kiba and the others were sitting at.

"Hey if it isn't our Magical Swordsman who can use lightning." As Kiba tried to annoy me with his petty words.

"That was a great fight Luna, I can't believe you could par with Gon who was obviously very talented at swordsmanship." As Annie said.

"Haha, I just got lucky I guess, And Ma'am Angeline's teachings were also helpful. Her training method really made me improve to what I am now." As I replied.

"Yeah, Even with a hellish training like that. It is really effective, Seeing your sharp senses when you fought I knew that it was due to Ma'am Angeline's teachings." As Ryan Said.

"But Lulu, Where did you get your sword? It's a treasure grade item you know? Once word gets out It'll be troublesome for you." As Kiba said with a worried expression.

"Yeah, Kiba's right. Magical swords are top tier compared to other swords. It can't just be obtained by merely making it." As leon said in a serious tone.

"It was a gift from my father, He said that it was a gift from a man he respected the most." As I replied.

So our conversation about the Magical sword prolonged amidst on all the battles that occured infront of us.

They were totally immersed on our topic that we manage to not notice the other teams fight ended.

Hailey came to us after some time passed, She finally regained her strength seeing how lively she got.

She was totally happy about us winning against the so called unbeatable duo.

After the other team fights ended, The Principal announced the Eight teams that'll fight for the Grand finals.

We were placed at Team 8. So we'll be fighting Team 7 and if we win, We'll be fighting against the three remaining teams that have won their matches.

So after another motivational speech that the Principal said, Instructor Michael followed and went to the Stage to announce the First match.

"Team 1 versus Team 2, Please head your way to the arena."

Team 1: Randell Smithen, An Elf Spear Combatant with Short hair and handsome looks.

His partner, Jake Brittins is a human Intermediate Stage Mana user that had brown curly hair along with his kind looking face.

Team 2: Diego bagus, A dwarf Sword Combatant with a scary look and great physique.

His partner, Fiona Dews. A human Beginner Stage Mana user who had beautiful eyes, Short blonde hair and great figure.

Both teams went up to the arena as the crowd cheered for them, But as I kept watching, Millis informed me that one of the teachers at the stage is observing me.

We couldn't determine who the teacher was but Millis could sense how that teacher is keeping an eye on us.

Seeing them observing me, Excalibur must have been the case.

After hearing what Kiba said earlier, I guess having a Magical Sword like Excalibur is really troublesome.

The match had begun and both teams faced off instantly as we watched along with the crowd that kept cheering for both of the teams.

Randell was very good with handling his spear, Seeing him overwhelm such a big guy like Diego.

Diego was on the defensive side, While Randell kept attacking him within a range that Diego could not counter.

Jake was also completely at the upper hand against his fight with Fiona.

Fiona kept on blocking the Magic spells that Jake casted which consumed most of her time defending and wasn't able to give support to her partner Diego.

Amidst the consecutive spells that Jake used towards Fiona, He was able to subdue her movement with Earth magic at the same time.

Fiona who was panicking after getting caught by Jake's magic, noticed that Diego was also in a tight spot.

Diego could not close the gap between them, He had no other choice but to keep on defending against a master spearman who kept on stabbing him every second without a rest.

As their battle prolonged, In the end, Team 1 overwhelmed Team 2 and won the first match.

Seeing their fighting style, They lack team work and fought individually by splitting their enemies and pinning them down.

It was more of a Two joint duels in a single arena rather than a Duo battle.

But that Randell guy surely was talented, Seeing him fight with such accuracy and observation.

Diego could not manage to take a single step forward, and couldn't close their distance at the end.

Randell was a very careful combatant to be exact, He really showed what a spearman is capable of.

The students cheered after seeing their fight, Then teams continued to battle against each other.

There were other good teams, But none of them compared to the Auck brothers compatibility.

If we didn't defeat the Auck brothers, They'll surely be at the Grand finals.

After talking with them earlier, They seemed to be nice unlike the rumors. But I guess they just treat the weak students differently.

Seeing how they assessed my performance after we fought.

Then the other teams also fought, while the teachers along the students applaud for their performance.

We also fought against team 7 which we won easily.

After taking down the Auck Brothers who were supposedly the unbeatable duo made alot of impact in our upcoming battles.

Team 7's morale dropped after facing us in the arena and lost one sidedly.

And the same goes for the other battles.

In the end, Team 1 and us were the qualifiers for the Grand finals, So we were called unto the arena to battle for the spot.

"The battle you've been waiting for! Randell and Jake versus! Luna and Hailey! Now which team would take the spot for the Grand finals!?" As the commentator hyped the audience.

The crowd shouted each of our names as they watched us confront with each other inside the arena.

"Randell, Jake will be Team 1 and Luna, Hailey will be Team 2! Now Let the final battle for the second day of the tournament begin!"

'Excalibur!' As I've summoned my sword in a flashy scene.

Hailey positioned herself at the back with her bow.

Randell prepared a battle stance infront of me while his partner jake casted wind spells to support Randell's movements.

After a moment of observing, Randell made the first move and came towards me followed by Jake's binding spell that tried to subdue my movements.

But Hailey also casted a defensive earth spell that shook of the binding spell that Jake casted, and I freely moved to confront Randell's attack.

But Randell did not stop stabbing me and made use of his spear's reach, that put me on the defensive state.

Hailey kept shooting Wind arrows that had invisible form towards Randell, but Jake who already knew about it after witnessing our first fight against the Auck brothers managed to block it.

As I kept trading blows and defended Randell's attacks, Nothing progressed.

After witnessing infront of me, Randell's spearmanship was really outstanding.

To be able to attack me frequently while maintaining our distance isn't some amateur could do.

The battle occured, I was forced to use Excalibur's power after trying to best Randell with mere swordsmanship.

Hailey also provided my support by trying to subdue Randell's movements, but Jake was very good. He always managed to keep Randell in check while trading attacks with Hailey.

I released lightning as I swung my sword at Randell, But Randell was too hard for me to hit. His agility was quite extreme to keep on dodging Excalibur's lightning.

The Crowd kept shouting as our battle prolonged.

The entire arena was shaking due to the impacts of our attacks.

Randell who has lost the upper hand due to the long ranged attacks I've used made him anxious and rushed towards me to regain the upper hand.

While Hailey and Jake had a fierce battle with their magic while also kept providing us spells to boost our movements.

After exchanging alot of blows with each other, We went back to our mana users and calmed abit.

Seeing each other's defenses couldn't easily be penetrated.

I went back to Hailey and observed the opposing team's next move.

The commentator hyped the audience while they kept cheering.

That's when Randell and Jake showed something new.

Randell who wasn't an awakened managed to use Sword Elemental.

The crowd was shocked after seeing it.

Jake casted a flame spell and coated it within Randell's spear.

Jake called it, The undying flame.

Then that's when they engaged again, As Randell ran towards me, I kept releasing Excalibur's lightning towards him.

But he managed to evade it all, While Jake once again grabbed Hailey's attention and secluded themselves.

So it was once again a fight between two combatants and two mana users.

Millis calculated all the possibilities on how to win against Randell, But millis found none.

Due to my swordsmanship level to be inferior towards his spearmanship, Millis told me that I would not be able to win this match if I solely rely on my swordsmanship.

As we traded blows from one to another, Millis pestered me to use Direct Point.

A Skill which I've made before that can Show vital points, Openings and precised aim for me.

Seeing our battle being him on the upper hand left me no choice but to use it.

That's when I clearly saw every opening he had, Which I didn't manage to see before.

I made the Direct Point Skill to utilize my aim properly when using Excalibur's power. But I didn't knew that it would also be able to help me like this.

"Notice, Direct Point has evolved after the Host's talent for observing."

'So that's why it had this additional abilities.'

Then after activating Direct Point, I finally landed a blow towards Randell who kept his distance against me.

After receiving an attack from me, He jumped back and analyzed how I managed to attack him even when he kept maintaining a good distance from me.

But I, Who just gained the upper hand didn't want to waste any second. So I immediately rushed towards him as he observed me.

The situation changed after our weapons collided, He was now on the defensive state and I was on Offensive.

Jake noticed that Randell was on the losing side and tried to help him, But Hailey did not stop attacking him and managed to crack his crest.

So in the end He got his focus back towards Hailey.

As our battle happened, The entire arena was noisy.

Students cheered with excitement, While the commentator indicated our moves as he watched our battle.

The Flame on Randell's sword became smaller, Seeing how it is, Jake's mana is now depleting and soon will exhaust his body.

Hailey also was already exhausted, But she manage to hang on and traded spells with Jake.

Seeing me being aggressive, made Randell panic and distracted.

So another huge opportunity opened infront of me, That's when I used Lightning and hit Randell on the Chest, and destroyed his crest.

Then smoke occured around the arena, As the two Mana users stopped attacking each other trying to gain energy after exhausting themselves.

So it was up to me, to finish the battle.

As the crowd went wild cheering for us.

Before I could run towards Jake, A huge light flashed from the sky.

It covered the entire arena, As the crowd lifted their heads to sed what was happening.

That's when, the huge flash of light grew bigger before our eyes, as it fell towards the arena.

"Notice, Activating Danger protocol zone."

It was a Magic Spell....

I ran towards Hailey and hugged her, Then the Magic Spell landed at the arena.

And a huge explosion occured...
