Schedule

Lounging around all day has been fruitful. And by fruitful, I mean sleeping all day. After going to bed earlier, I woke up, ate, and slept again.

My phone rings which stirs me from my sleep.

"Hello?" I grumbled at the person on the other side.

"What's your day like?"

"What?" I could barely fathom what was going on.

"What are you doing today?" The person asks again

"I have...um...I have-"

"Are you asleep?"

"Yeah."

"My apologies. But Lesley, it's 1:33pm for Christ's sake. Didn't you have time to sleep overnight?"

I finally checked who was trying to insult my sleep and rolled my eyes when I realized who it was.

"Well, a certain somebody decided to put me in an uncomfortable position last night and I couldn't sleep well."

"That's why you didn't move an inch when a certain somebody got up and almost killed himself in the process."

"Aww. What a way of waking up."

"I love the way you show your love. Seems insincere."

"What is the reason for this particular disturbance Christian?"

"I want to take you out. As a token of thanks."

"Token of thanks?"

"I appreciate last night. I want to show it."

"Get me food. I'd appreciate it."

"No,no,no. What's your day like?" He asks again.

I sighed. "I have a test by 6."

"Test?"

"Yeah."

"I'm done with all my tests."

"Good for you." I yawn.

"After your test?"

"I'm done for the day."

"Sweet. I'll pick you up after?"

"To where?"

"Anywhere my car takes us to."

"What if I'm busy?"

"I just verified you're not."

"And if something comes up?"

"That's why I just called to schedule." He answers.

"You're proud."

"I know. That's why you love me."

"You seriously need to visit a doctor."

"So by 8?"

"Eight?"

"I can pick you up from school if you'd want or take you to school basically."

"Christian, there's no need."

"It's not an issue for me. Tell me. When will you be done at home?"

"I should be ready by 5:30."

"Alright then. See you by 5:30" He says and hangs up.

I placed my phone on the bed and sighed for the umpteenth time. I grudgingly got up from my bed and dragged myself to the bathroom to have a shower.

Exactly at 5:30, a knock comes through the door. I take a last look at myself in the mirror and head towards the door.

"Hey love." Is the first thing Christian says when I open the door.

"Love?" I raise an eyebrow. "Did you drink before coming here?"

"Are you done?" He asks instead.

I nod and step out, locking the door behind me. "You could have just sent a text to come meet you downstairs."

"Are you ready for your test?" He averts my words again.

"To an extent."

"That's good then."

The remaining walk and ride to school was a silent one. Each in their own thoughts.

****

Christian's POV.

I park in front of her faculty and turn off the engine then turn to her.

"I'll be here when you're done, so you can come anytime."

"What will you be doing?" She asks.

"I'll be here." I answer.

"You can't honestly just wait here doing nothing."

She just doesn't know the lengths I've gone through for her.

"Don't worry about me, I could go for some sightseeing. Anything can happen."

"Alright then." She opens the door and steps out. "I'll be right back."

"Good luck on your test."

"Thanks." She smiles and closes the door.

*What makes you think she loves you?*

My mind goes back to the conversation I had with Don this morning as I watched her walk into the building.

*Because she said so?*

*You can't possibly tell me you're relying on that. She could have just meant it in a friendly way.*

*What if it wasn't?* I ask with a little glint of hope in my voice.

*Don't raise your hopes Christian. They leave quite a mark if broken.*

Why would you decide to confuse the hell out of me Lesley? It's enough torture being too casual with you. Now, I don't even know anymore.

And I'm not sure how long I can keep this in.
