Territory Lord

The game system chimed as a string of notifications appeared on the screen, mounted on the lid of Zach's gaming capsule.

His capsule was an old gold ranked model, that he had purchased after half a decade of saving.

The virtual reality industry had progressed by leaps since the launch of the model he was in,at that time, this model was the most expensive virtual reality cubicle, but at the moment,it was not close or even worth the price of the current copper ranked capsule.

Most people were still using virtual reality headset as they were affordable compared to the capsules, but with a single downside.

Each headset had a time limit that one could be plugged in to the virtual world, depending on its rank.

There were three ranks for the virtual reality headset, just like there were for the virtual reality capsules. Copper, silver and gold.

For the current model of copper ranked virtual reality headset, one could be plugged in for twenty-four hours,in real time, that was equivalent to ninety six hours in-game,before logging out for a mandatory one hour rest.

As for the corresponding ranks, the time increased by a factor of two. Silver ranked virtual reality headset supported one for forty-eight hours while gold ranked virtual reality headset had a ninety six hours limit.

The capsules were a different story, the current model copper virtual reality capsule had a time limit of fourteen days, the silver ranked virtual reality capsule had a twenty-eight days limit while the current gold ranked virtual reality capsule had a fifty-six days limit.

As for the gold ranked old model Zach was using,it had a time limit of seven days.

The capsules were packed with nutrition packs that were connected via tubes to ones body, these provided one with the required nutrients.

There was also an inbuilt waste disposal system and a relaxation and cleaning system,as well as a health monitoring system.

All these ensured that the body was kept at optimum condition.

Zach thought of his federal identification number and a seven long alphanumerical number was input into the box on the screen.

The virtual reality technology was operated by brainwaves. All one needed to do was to think and their thoughts would be imputed into the system via the brainwaves sensors attached to ones temple.

RACE: Human

STAGE: Mortal

TERRITORY RANK: Camp

HP: 100%

Since the advancement of virtual reality technology, many industries dubbed into creation of game worlds as people spent more time in the virtual world than real world. This was attributed to two factors, one was the federal bill that passed the conversion of game currency to federal credits and two,was the time difference between real world and the virtual world.

For a day in real world, one would have spent four in the virtual world. The virtual world was way better than the real world as it was a stimulated environment of peak standards where one could be and do whatever they liked without the limits and regulations of the federal government.

In the virtual world, one could ride dragons, shop at malls that were on other continents and have their goods delivered to they doorsteps by delivery robots, attended classes and conferences in they avatars and even massacre a whole city without any repercussions, provided ones gaming avatar had the power and strength to do so.

From the thousands of games Zach could have picked from,he opted for the territory Lord,as it was the one of the few single player strategic and building virtual reality game.

Ten seconds later, Zach's vision blurred and his avatar spawned in a grassy plane.

He blinked to get accustomed to his new environment before stretching his new body.

The avatar was clad in a simple set of cotton cloth,a pair of trousers,a shirt and a pair of leather boots.

Tied to a leather belt on his waist was a sheathed common iron sword.

Two steps from him was a wooden chest,a welcome bonus for every player, this chest had the basic resources that enabled one to atleast establish themselves.

In Territory Lord, one had to establish their territory from scratch at the same time growing their strength.

The area one spawned had a boundary set around it,and the more ones territory developed, the more the boundary expanded. For Zach, the current boundary limit was within the radius of one kilometer.

Looking around,Zach spotted a forest east of his location, the rest of the region was a grassy plane.

"Guess it's time I start."

Zach thought as he approached the wooden chest and lifted its lid.

The one good thing that Zach liked about this game was how simple yet challenging and demanding it was,as it was evident from the items he received.

He was expected to establish a territory with so little,he did not even have any NPC to help him out.

As per the game parameters, the first NPCs would only be spawned when he had developed his camp. The number and quality of NPCs spawned would depend on the system evaluation and ranking of his camp.

There were four territory rankings, low, mid, high and peak. For a low ranked camp,it would spawn two NPCs in a week, and the number doubled per rank.

If he managed to establish a peak ranked camp, the system would spawn sixteen NPCs for his camp, and that was Zach's plan.

He planned on using his experience from previous virtual reality games to establish his territory. And seeing that he had spawned near a forest,he was happy as this would make his work easier.

Looking at the pile of resources Infront of him,he smiled as he moved towards the centre of the grassy plane
