Maya's expression darkened as she watched Silas walk away, her enthusiasm evaporating almost instantly. Compelled by an uncontrollable urge, she stepped toward him, desperate to stop him.
Luis grabbed her arm, pulling her back. "Where are you going?"
"Esme… she doesn't seem well," Maya stammered, searching for an excuse. "We should check on them."
"Silas can handle it," Luis replied, his tone unyielding. "Give them some privacy. Why are you so eager to follow him?"
Maya flinched under his piercing gaze. She knew she couldn't let Luis suspect her feelings for Silas. If he found out, it would spell disaster for her plans.
"I'm just concerned about her," she said defensively, trying to hide her true intentions. "Don't think I'm trying to invade their privacy." Forcing a seductive smile, she brushed her fingers against his chest. "How about we go back to our place?"
