Chapter 15.1 : Discovery

Nearby Morioh, Japan, 1999.

At this moment, three men could be seen carefully walking through the rather small cliffs of Morioh, making sure that nothing happened to them.

The three of them were, Shimamoto Kou, Amano Saburo, and Asato Yuriko, three formerly unemployed friends.

As he stared at the rather dark clouds that were about to arrive off them, Shimamoto Kou couldn't help but shake curse.

"It's about to start raining, did any of you bring an umbrella?" asked Kou as he looked at his other two friends, Amano Saburo and Asata Yuriko.

At this moment, as he stared at the clouds that rapidly became darker and darker, Kou was silently cursing not bringing an umbrella.

"I brought one," said Amano before taking a small umbrella from his backup, causing Shimamoto to breathe a sigh of relief.

"At least we won't have to search for this damn body in the rain, walking through the hills while raining, we were too stupid for taking up this job," mumbled Kou as he felt some tiny raindrops land on his head.

Hearing this, Asato Yuriko, who had been silent up until now, finally spoke up.

"Do I need to remind you how much this job pays, for just walking through the hills?" asked Asato, causing Kou to become silent.

"Around eleven million yen per year, even if we can't manage to hold it down for an entire year, we must keep this job for as long as possible," said Amano as he opened his umbrella, shielding himself and his friends from the rain that had just begun pouring.

In what seemed like just a few moments, it had gone from not raining in the slightest, to water pouring down at an incredible speed.

"Yes, in that regard it's quite good," mumbled Kou as he leaned next to Amano, using the umbrella to shield himself from the rain., feeling quite embarrassed about his previous words.

Suddenly, Amano dropped the umbrella, as he stretched out his hands towards his left side and caught Asato, who was just about to fall down the cliff.

In what seemed like a fraction of a moment, because of the slippery terrain created by the rain, Asato had slipped and nearly fallen down the cliff.

"Asato, are you alright, do we need to call for help!?" asked Amano as he watched Asato clutch his ankle.

"Yea, you probably need to, I don't think I can make it back out of here on foot, I think at least twisted my ankle," mumbled Asato as he tried his best to sit down.

Seeing this, Kou, who had caught the umbrella, nodded.

"Alright, I'll call someone," said Kou as he took out a square mobile phone.

Whilst Kou was talking on the phone, Amano was standing next to Asato, helping him sit down.

"Amano?"

"Yea, what is it," asked Amano as he looked at Asato with an inquisitive look on his face.

"Can you look down the cliff, I think I saw something weird down there," said Asato, causing Amano to appear somewhat confused.

"Alright, If you say so," mumbled Amano before staring down towards the bottom of the cliff, causing his face to freeze.

"Kou."

"What is it, I'm talking on the phone," said Kou as he looked at Amano, who was standing on the edge of the cliff.

"I think we may have found something," said Amano, causing Kou to freeze as well.

...

Looking at the man who was currently being carried towards an ambulance on a stretcher, Amaya Minori couldn't help but faintly frown.

"I assume the injury of your colleague is not the reason why you have called me here so urgently, I can assure you that the Speedwagon Foundation will take care of all the expenses caused by the injury," Asked Minori as he looked at the two men in front of him, who were currently in quite a sorry state, having been drenched by the rain.

"No sir, I think we found something that may need your attention," said Amano, causing Minori to freeze for a brief moment before nodding.

"Very well, then, lead me there," said Minori with a much more serious expression on his face.

...

Some time later,

As he stared at the rotten coffin, as well as at the ground, Minori fell into thought.

'This coffin has been clearly dug up in the past week, I can be sure of that,' thought Minori as he touched the rotting wood.

Whilst Minori was inspecting the coffin, Amano and Kou stood nearby, staring at him.

"Say, do you think we will get a bonus for finding this?" quietly asked Kou as he looked at his friend.

"That was in the contract, didn't you read it?" asked Amano with a slightly exasperated look on his face.

Suddenly, Minori got up from the ground and looked at the two men.

"My two friends, I need you to look after this place for a few minutes, you will be handsomely compensated, could you do that for me?" asked Minori as he looked at the two.

Hearing this, the two immediately nodded, causing Minori to quickly take out a rather advanced looking flip phone and begin calling someone as he left, leaving the two men to guard the coffin.

...

As he looked at the coffin, which was currently being loaded into a truck, Minori couldn't help but shake his head.

"The first lead being a coffin, hopefully we can find something useful from it," mumbled Minori as he turned to the man standing next to him.

"Do not worry, we have already found some DNA on the coffin and have already begun the analysis, as soon as we get the coffin to one of our labs, we can further speed it up, in at most a week you will find out the results of the DNA test," said the man, causing Minori to faintly nod.

"Hopefully things are that simple," mumbled Minori before taking a sip out of his coffee mug, which he had just refilled.
