Deep down, Jay York knew very well that the probability of a rescue mission by the Milky Way Alliance was very low. The Oracle Star might be very small, but its strengths were no weaker than that of a powerful country. The Milky Way Alliance might be strong, but it was not an autocratic institution. Discussions were necessary before making any decision. Besides, with a precedent of a missing deep space fleet, the Milky Way Alliance would be adopting a bureaucratic stand of being cautious. A full scale rescue?
Of course there would be one. But that would require time. Perhaps a year or two?
Survival. The key was to survive.
