Chapter 4: Mentor?

I was being led by a maid deep into the castle. To a private training ground which, according to the maid, Elder Virion is the only one who has been allowed to use it for the last 100 years.

"Um excuse me, but who really is Virion? He seems to have more power than the very king of this country judging from his attitude towards the King." I asked my guide

She seemed quite surprised by my sudden question but her face fell back to indifference as she answered, "Elder Virion is the previous King and the hero of all Elves, as he was the one who led the Elves to victory against the humans", she said with pride

"And it's Elder Virion for you human" she added with clear irritation in her voice

I decided to let her last statement go since I couldn't exactly blame her for her ignorance. How would she know that she's speaking with a higher being?

Though i have to admit, this Castle certainly is beautiful, even the one from my previous world would pale in comparison to it's regalness. 'It's suitable for me to live me and it'll serve as a good base of operations if i need to overtake this continent'

Even though this continent is practically all lessers, it'll still be a useful chess piece that i need to acquire if i ever want to stand a chance in a fight against Father and GrandFather.

"We're here"

We arrived in front of 2 doors that I looked like they would lead to the Royal Chambers. These doors were covered with gold and lined with green markings that I couldn't decipher, 2 Guards stood at each end and with a nod from the maid they opened the doors.

What awaited me was a huge circle shaped training ground which had a radius of more than 60 meters and a dome shaped ceiling that reached 30 meters at its highest point hung above us. The ground seemed to be completely covered by grass and flowers bloomed even through the lack of sunlight.

I stepped inside and the doors immediately close once I entered. I had no time to marvel at the training ground before i felt killing intent aimed at my head.

I spun my body towards it and what appeared to be a completely black figure was sitting atop a boulder just to the side of the room. 'I thought nobody was allowed to use this place'.

The figure pulled something out of the various belts strapped to its body and proceeded to throw multiple projectiles, which I assumed are knives, at blinding speed. A normal mage would be unable to react and would instantly die without knowing what hit them.

But i am not a normal mage. I pivoted slightly to the left out of the way of the projectiles before catching one of them and hurling it back at my attacker before imbuing it with wind mana to increase it's speed and deadliness. But he had already left his original place and The knife struck the wall with enough power to uproot a tree but to my surprise the wall remained unscathed.

I tracked my my attacker's mana signature to find him staring at me a few meters away with eyes similar to that of a cat. And although the figure appeared passive now, i knew better than to let my guard down.

"It seems i made the right choice by choosing to tutor you" i watched, fascinated as the figure slowly transformed to that of an old elf, it's yellow eye's reverting back to their normal black color.

"What the hell are you doing!?" I screamed angrily.

"I was simply testing you, to see if you are worthy of my tutoring" he pulled out an item similar to those knives he threw at me, "you weren't in any danger whatsoever, these things are blunted and i even coated them with my mana so even if they hit you they would only sting"

"Anyways enough about that, what i want to know is something more important" he's eyes narrowed, watching me warily, "you're not a human Arthur, so what the hell are you?"

I froze, unable to answer. This was dangerous, too dangerous. If i make the wrong move then my entire plan of taking over Elenoir will crumble. Should i kill him? No, they would immediately suspect me since I'm an outsider.

Wait, there always this option.

As i decided on this route, i removed the necklace that served as the Artifact to hide my Asuran features.

Virion Pov

My jaw fell slack, and i felt the blood drain from my face. His brown hair turned to a wheat color and his unassuming black eyes transformed to a brilliant Yellow color with black slits similar to that of a reptiles.

But the most striking difference were his horns. Black horns that make the knight sky look gray in comparison, suddenly sprouted out from his scalp and they framed his head like a the horns on a bull.

I knew what he was even if he didn't say it. He was a deity, a god. I always knew they existed, i was told about them when i became king, of the higher beings who are watching over us and protecting us.

But i never expected to meet one of their kin in my lifetime.

"I am an Asura" Arthur spoke, unlike before his voice was filled with power unlike before, " A dragon to be specific"

"O-Oh my" i managed to stutter as I immediately fell down to a bow, "I greet one of the deities, our guardians".

"Deity? Is that what you call us? I'm also curious just how many people there are that know of our existence?" He asked but gave me no chance to answer as he continued, "No matter. Virion." I looked up to meet his eyes as I mentally prepared myself "Do you really think the Asuras are your guardians?"

Wait what? What did he just say? I thought i will be able to answer his questions albeit a bit but i never expected this

Arthur conjured 2 simple stone seats and sat on one, motioning for me to do the same. I sat down silently facing the 5 year old God. "Asuras are not your Guardians but rather seek to control you, make sure elves, humans and dwarves never grow too much"

I tried to speak but he motioned for my silence, "As an Asura, i know about their true nature better that any other race in the world. I know all about their selfishness and brutality." I was shocked by this sudden proclam

"What i am about to tell you will perhaps change the course of this entire continent"

30 minutes later

Arthur Pov

This was a risky move but it was the shortest and clearest way forward. If I can get the cooperation of Virion, then Elenoir will fall under my control and the first phase of my plan will be complete.

"I understand" he finally said, "if what you say is true then following you is the best option we have considering how weak we are" i felt a smile tugging at my lips at his words but forced my face to remain emotionless

"I, Elder Virion, will follow you and with it the Kingdom of Elenoir" he said while lightly bowing his head

"But i thought you're the former king? Even though you're a hero, I don't think you have the power to do something like this"

"Don't worry, even though i am the former king, my son pretty much always comes to me for advice on ruling so he already respects me a lot" Virion said proudly, " and he'll definitely agree with my decision once he gets to know the whole story, if it's fine with you"

"Sure but only to the king and queen" it'd be bothersome if a spy caught wind of my existence and sent one of those horned demons after me. I'm still far too weak to be able to fight against them.

"Alright then I'll be on my way" with those words he bowed and left the training room leaving me all alone

No, not alone. I took out my sister's egg from my snatchel. "You're always here with me aren't you Sylv?" I said not expecting a reply when i felt the egg start shaking lightly

I thought i was seeing things but it did it again and the shaking slowly intensified until it became visible to the naked eye

Crack

Crack

Crack

A series of cracks appeared on the egg shell after i removed my Mom's feather that was encasing it.

Crack! Kyu!

The eggshell bro and what appeared to be a small black dragon was staring up at me. She had the same yellow eyes as me but her horns were more like my mother, sprouting out upwardly instead of my horizontal ones.

She looked at me with intelligence before suddenly jumping and biting my hand. I felt a small sting as a mark appeared on my fore arm. A bond mark i realized

'Mama!' a voice sounded out in my head but i instinctively knew who was taking. A sad looked flashed across my face before i immediately wiped it away.

"My name is Arthur and I'm your older brother" i said as i reached and held her tenderly. "Your name is Sylvie, i named you after our mother"

"But don't worry, your big brother will protect you in place of mother, for there is nothing in this world that will seperate us"
