Chapter 2: The Elven Forest

Due to Mom creating the portal too hastily, the journey through it was nauseating but I didn't pay it any mind. I didn't even register the fact that i already exited the portal after a few minutes, The shock of losing my Mom was way too great to pay any heed to it.

But the emotion that triumphed over my shock was rage. I was mad at the horned demon for stealing my mother from me, but i was even more mad at myself. I was too weak and couldn't even protect my Mother

'Damn it!' I slammed my fist into the ground hard enough to create a small creator. A few drops of blood oozed out of my knuckles. 'What's the use of being a prodigy among Asuras if i can't even protect those close to me?'

I was then reminded of the law that didn't change no matter the civilization, species or world.

'It's survival of the fittest' the strong rule and those who are weak die, 'that's right, my Mother died because she was weak, but I'll won't let that happen to me or my sister. I'll be strong enough to protect the both of us'

I looked towards the Egg Mother entrusted me with, my sister was probably the only other person i could trust in this damned accursed world.

'Don't worry sis, your brother will protect you and anybody who dares to harm you will die, it's a promise"

I looked around, finally acknowledging my surroundings. Giant trees towered over me and blocked the sunlight from coming through so I couldn't even know if it was day or night, while mist so thick that you couldn't even see anything for more than a few meters in front obscured my vision.

'The Elven Forest, Elshire' i realized. Mother had told me about it since our makeshift home was on the outskirts of it. 'Let's see, If i remember correctly, she said something about there being a kingdom that governed over this land, the Kingdom of Elenoir and that elves are proficient in navigating this forest'

No matter how strong i am, I don't know this land well enough to navigate through it even if i managed to somehow dispel the mist.

I picked up the Egg and jumped up to the nearest branch. I couldn't help but admire my Asuran physique, i just jumped more than 7 meters high with barely any mana strengthening. Even at the height of my power at Earth, I wouldn't have been able to jump up so high.

Shaking off these unnecessary thoughts, i nimbly jumped from one branch to another in a direction I randomly picked hoping to find any signs of life.

A few days passed before i found a sign of life and that came in the form of sounds about 50 meters ahead, I sped up and eventually reached a small clearing and in it a group 4 lessers sitting around a campfire, They appeared to be transporting goods with the wagon behind them.

The Wagon carried a cage with an Elven child inside who appeared to be wailing and crying before one of the humans knocked her out.

"I wonder how much this one will fetch us?"

"Elves sell for a lot even when they're past their prime so imagine how much this child will give us. She's still has her whole life ahead of her and since she's a child she's a virgin in top of that."

"We're gonna make a fortune!"

'Slave traders' i realized. 'Wait an Elf? Won't she be useful in escaping this forest and finding civilization?' I quickly calculated the cons and pros and found out it was better to save this Elven lesser.

I placed my sister's egg in a hidden ditch around 30 meters away and jumped back up onto the branches. I let my self fall straight onto one of them and proceeded to crush his spine, killing him instantly. The others were quick to get on guard But they were too slow and far too weak.

I dashed to one of them much too fast for his eyes to see and sliced his hands off using a blade made out of pure mana, he collapsed to the ground wailing in pain.

Before they even knew what hit them, 1 of them had died and other lay at my feet , his hands cut off and pouring blood like a fountain. I looked into his fear filled eyes with a cold gaze before crushing his head with my foot.

Brain matter and blood scattered everywhere before he even had the chance to register how he died.

"Who the hell are you, you bastard!!" One of the slave traders shouted angrily.

"Someone your not worthy of looking at, much less speak to in this way" i said in a way that made it clear i only thought of him as an insect.

"The hell is a child like you saying!? You really think you can win? You may have caught us off guard the first time but you'll regret showing yourself to us, launch some spells at the fucker" they then proceeded to launch multiple spells of fire and water attributes but the power of their spells could only be described as pitiful.

I let the spells crash against my mana barrier and gave them a moment to realize how weak they are. I slowly walked towards them letting my full intent rest on them. Their knees quivered and they fell to the ground gasping for air. Seeing them look up at me like some kind of monster made me realize the difference between us all too clearly.

'Lessers are really disgusting and weak creatures, i wonder what Mother saw in them'

"I'm gonna enjoy slaughtering you bugs"

I relished in the killing of the remaining slave traders. After all they committed the crime of being weak and speaking as if they were superior to me. I cut off their limbs, and skewered them through their mana cores using earth spikes a few meters long. It'll take them a few hours to die like this, they should reflect on their crime of being weak.

I took one of their bags and tied it around my body, 'you should be grateful to have been of use to me lessers'

I walked toward the wagon where the Elven girl was sleeping peacefully. I carefully carried her out of the cage and went back to retrieve my sister. I placed her Egg in my bag and was going to wake up her up but then I realized,

'If the Elven girl saw what i did to those slave traders then she'd probably be too scared to even help me'

I carried her on my back and ran away from the scene, a few hours went by and i knew we were too far away to accidentally stumble back into that campsite. I placed the girl down, which couldn't be older than 6, and woke her up. She was startled to say the least and immediately started crying.

"Calm down, your safe now. Those slave traders won't be chasing you anymore" i said in a gentle manner which was completely different from how i see her but i needed her help to get out of this forest.

"You saved me? But how could someone younger than me save me from 4 adult mages?" She said in a disbelieving tone

"The details don't matter but what matters now is that your safe now but i have a favor to ask. I've been stuck here for days trying to escape this forest but to no avail. Can you perhaps help me?"

She nodded vigorously and said, "off course i can! There's no one better than us Elves capable of moving through the forest, I'll take you to the nearest city!"

"I knew i could put my faith in you! Btw what should i address you as? Saying girl over and over again is kinda weird"

"My Name is Tessia Eralith, an elf, what's yours?"

"Arthur. Arthur Indrath and I'm a human, Nice to meet you Tessia!" I said energetically. 'Using this childlike tone should help her feel familiar with

me more"

"Then Let's start moving before it gets dark. My Mom said that all the monsters come out in the dark so we have to hurry!" She said innocently.

'What a typical story to tell your child but if it is true then even I won't be able to fight and protect her at the same time'

"Alright let's go!"
